South Fork 2A Early outlook

Lincolnton looked little ragged. The OL struggled. The offense moved the ball with their quickness when they went wide, but up front the OL didn't open many holes. The QB (Woods) is very good athlete....can make things happen with his legs. He also stood out on defense....very quick to the ball from his safety position and a sure tackler.

J. Littlejohn looked good the one time he got some running room, broke some tackles and took it to the house. He is big....heard someone say he weighs around 230.

I understand Lincolnton was missing a couple of lineman for the scrimmage. The other teams in the scrimmage were Ashe County, East Surry, and Watauga.

I take it Watauga looked sharpe in a passing attack? Ashe is prob so so but I’m sure has a mean DB and WR somwere?

Nothing on North Lincoln?

Top 3 in the conference will be Lincolnton, East, and Maiden but I don't know about the order. It doesn't hurt when you have an experienced qb back with a weapon like Dollar back on the field.

I think East will be a contender for the conference title. They have 7 starters back on defense in addition to having Dollar back who probably won't come off the field. Their defense was pretty good last year and I expect the same this year.

QB Jones did get better as the season went along last year. IMO he has more weapons around him this year with the addition of Dollar. Dollar, Johnson and soph Lucas are play makers on offense.

To my understanding we have had problems with kids not showing up to practice and 4/5 starting online wasn't allowed to scrimmage.

Which shows Lincolnton is still deep even when kids are in trouble. Y’all got this in the bag lol.

Fully expect a slow start for us per usual but if we can stay healthy I think we can make things interesting late in the season. Depth will be an issue with a lot of kids going both ways.

I have to say I’m happy to see this page made it to 3 pages already. Should be 4 for 5 by now if we’re commenting on most of the teams in the conf with Maiden fans popping up which hasn’t happened yet. I see it dying out when this conf game starts and that conf game starts. Can’t see any comments with NL’s first game. If it’s in bag they’ll not be any post or threads. They play that private school they destroyed last year which after seeing the score I knew they wasn’t tested but figured they might at least have a decent season. Wasn’t the case but there were some good players on the team that return this year and can make a difference.

Sorry wolf meant to leave you a comment. If your players going both ways then wow, expect some wear out if the other teams offense keeps the ball and eats clock. Hope y’all don’t have it that bad but we’ll see.

Since some scrimmages have taken place and people have a better idea how the South Fork May pan out not to mention this thread will soon die let’s go one more round on season top to bottom finish predictions. I’m gonna change mine up a bit. Come on y’all participate.

1. EL- returns and QB play I’ll give em the honor. Lincolnton with lack of players and Maiden may be overrated I’ll take my chance at this spot. I’d just kinda wonder cause they fell hard to NL for 2 quarters til North decided to sleep lol.
2. Maiden- hey their Maiden. Got a feeling they got Lincolntons number and will take advantage of their two way players n lack of numbers. Still don’t understand the lack of numbers.
3. Lincolnton- enough talent to keep them here. Some good calls and opportunities might land them a 2nd, 1st if real lucky.
4. NC- I’m sure they have JUST enough players and athletes and speed to keep them in this spot.
5. WL- man.....smh 4 and 5 is a major toss up but if those 2 zippy backs are returning I can see no lower than this.
6. NL- with this Williams kid choosing North, Cribb busting tackles up the middle/eating clock and Sorrus making things happen on defense and at WR, major chance they can take 5 but I’m sure they’ll find ways to lose the close ones from a lack of a speedy defense.
7. Bandys- could slip past North and has the people to do it. Maybe even take WL too but West’s ground and pound may prove too much, a MAJOR gamble but I’ll put em here. Still no updates on this team, please post.
8. LNC- judging from last year, may remain in the basement.

Bandys has looked pretty good in the scrimmages so far. They seem to be playing pretty hard right now and havent had too many turnovers with the new offense. Not sure of the talent level they have played against but seems likey they could have a decent year for first year head coach Eanes

Word out of NL is the Williams kid has moved to SC. I spoke with a connection in Davidson County who said the Knights scored at will on Thomasville in last week's jamboree and that the Knight defense was all over the Bulldogs throughout the scrimmage. I also learned that North Lincoln scored twice on Burns before a storm shortened that scrimmage.

Wouldn't surprise me. The Williams kid is orignainally from South Pointe Rock Hill I believe. Big loss for the knights but they'll be okay.

What's the outlook for week one? I know my wolves have Stuart Cramer at home and east opens up with Ashbrook if I'm not mistaken. We will give SC a way better game than we did last year at their place but I'm not sure we will have the depth to go all 4 quarters. First two games will be rough for us but after that I can see us running the table possibly.

Thanks for the input on NL and bout the Willams kid. Wow guess he and his folks wanna go we’re the real college scouts go ha ha. Sucks but I bout can’t blame him.

Isn’t Thomasville usually a state ranked 1A team most years? And Burns is a batter team than last year? Can’t put too much emphasis or hope on a team based on a scrimmage but it all sure sounds good. Maybe Bazzel has the formula to make North competitive again.

I love using this example just cause of were I’m from- Burke county. East Burke in 06’ had 3 wins. The very next year in 07’ everybody came back and a much improved Shatley carried the ball, won conf championship, gave the Charlotte All stars(Independence) a run for their money in 3rd round only to lose by 2 scores. What’s sad and crazy is the very next week, many of those Indy players were suspended for ineligiblity and they lost the next game. Had that happened BEFORE they played EB, their mighta been a state championship banner in the stadium today. They were better than the team that beat Indy and went on to win in pretty sure.

Could all this be the same effect with North Lincoln. More than likely not that deep and successful but I expect a better season than a 2 win deal from last year. Let’s see if it happens.

I quoted and replied to wrong post, was meant for NM88. I’m guessing you graduated from North Meck in 88’?

East opens with forest view and North opens with Thomas Jefferson

Also North scored at will against East Davidson they had roughly 30 Yards whole scrimmage. Landon Beard the Quarterback for the knights also looks very well.

I was alittle concerned for North at the QB position. Last years QB wasn’t bad at all and made plays when the Oline gave him time.

So if Williams actually stayed, how did he look in scrimmage?

Scored 4 touchdowns had an interception also he was moved to the varsity during game situation scrimmages. The Oline looks very well for North this year. North also has a great addition on defense Terry Ferrell from East Lincoln. Bazzle is looks to really be changing the program mindset in just a short period of time.

Good for North. Still think they're going to go through some growing pains but I think they can sneak into the playoffs this year.

Glad to hear all this good news and additions to team. Bazzel must really have a connection with the fans and players. I wouldn’t say growing pains, I’d say if what they don’t get done this year might be a while before they can do it again. Losing Cribb after this year will be a pretty big blow but I hope I’m proven wrong. Willams if he don’t catch Lincolnton fever should help carry them for a while too.The program never really got anything super big going since losing Hopkins in 07’ and that defense from 07’.

Great to hear the Williams kid is still out north. Sometimes getting wrong news turns out good. Could be an interesting year there in Pumpkin Center. Bazzel's a great motivator.

Glad to see this post is still rolling. Started out real slow lol. From what poster cribb said he scored 4 TDs in a scrimmage, I’m guessing he’s being left on JV to develop and learn, which is smart. With North having a bruiser like Cribb carrying the rock with Sorrus on some plays as the quick back and some backups that do a decent job as long as the Oline holds they seem to have it under control. You def don’t want your
star getting hurt or exposed to too much.

Only star freshmen RB i remember that done varsity all 4 years every play every down if I’m not mistaken was Travis Paggent of Crest. I’m sure there’s been more here and there but TP really stood out. How is Williams speedwise as far as track and a open 100 meter dash goes?
