Week one kicks off this week so let's get this thing started. I've seen everyone scrimmage this year except Swain. There are so many variables with scrimmages, kids being held out, playing out of position or teams playing vanilla so they don't show too much. Here's my picks, curious to what everyone else thinks.

1 Murphy
2 Robbinsville
3 Swain
4 Cherokee
5 Hayesville
6 Rosman
7 Andrews
I could very easily see the Braves finishing third.

1. Murphy
2. Cherokee
3. Robbinsville
4. Hayesville
5. Swain
6. Andrews
7. Rosman

Bulldogs and Braves could easily be switched IMO, but i will go with the Dogs because im not sure how the Braves will mentally handle being a dominant team. If their coach can hold em together and they can stay healthy, they are going to be nasty good. I dont know what it is but I have a strange feeling about The Knights, that they arent going to be as good as usual. (but im probably wrong) just a hunch. I dont know a thing about the jackets but I do know The Devils have a lot of work to do up front. And, this year 1 or 2 injuries could devastate The Devils. Rosman had to cancel their JV season and pull all freshmen up to varsity. Thats just how I feel but what will probably happen is:

1. Knights
2. Bulldogs
3. Devils
4. Braves
5,6,7. Who knows

There should definitely be some good games between the top 4 teams or so. The conference is alot more fun when there is more than two teams that are good. Should be some fun Friday night's.

Sept 23 Cherokee at Murphy
Sept 30 Murphy at Robbinsville
In my opinion, these 2 early smc games will be huge. As far as how things may end up.... Im going Dogs, Knights, Braves, Devils, Yellow Jackets, Tigers, Wildcats

From what I seen at pisga lots of work to be done. But the Devils are no stranger to work so who knows

1. Robbinsville
2. Murphy
3. Swain
4. Cherokee
5. Jackets
6. Andrews
7. Rosman

I do think that there is a chance 4-7 could change

If Murphy stays healthy I think they are the best team and could still be playing on the final Saturday of the season in December. NEVER count out the Maroon Devils though. I aint buying that they are down that much. Robbinsville will be big and tough as usual. Cherokee has to come to The Hill so advantage Bulldogs there. One more prediction is when opposing fans in the SMC see Murphy's JV backfield the words "uh oh" or "oh s***" will be rolling off their lips. LOL. Ready to see some football !!

Murphy's jv backfield has the potential of being scary good. Speed everywhere.

Heard McCracken still isn't at Murphy yet but that he will be eventually? It won't matter much this season because the JV skill group is still beyond loaded with Dorsey, Murray, Smith, Clapsaddle, etc.

'Dogs likely 2017 varsity skill group is absurd: Curry, McRae, Jackson, Creelman, Blalock, Nelson, McTaggart, Roberts, Allen, Dorsey and Murray. Hopefully Vining somehow ends up back at Murphy too, either way an embarrassment of skill position riches in the 'Dog pipeline for the foreseeable future.

MBD I counted TEN running backs on your list for 2017 with a stud QB. That noise you heard is my evil laugh.........A coach told me last year that the 2nd best SMC JV backfield last season was Dogs 2nd string.......Anyway back to this year there is a BIG TIME opener Friday night at Hendersonville.

From what I'm hearing sounds like Robbinsville's jv backfield is pretty fast this year, they also have good numbers. Swains jv line probably bigger than their varsity. Sein kid, jv RB at Swain can play, kids a baller. Should be some good games on Thursdays.
