Elkin had homecoming last night, during its game with Mt Airy. They had reserved parking and tailgating on the baseball field. Yes, really, and it was really great to see people having fun. The small but very good band performed "great". They played James Bond theme and then Mission Impossible theme. Really Good.
They had not only a very good concession stand but also had 3 food or drink trucks placed around the track for easy access. Outstanding feeling for one and all whom attended the game.
Despite the very difficult season that Elkin has had, they played hard on the field, did not stop, were a complete class act in every thing they did. I hope that a school with a long history of success returns to league competitiveness very soon.
Truth be told, I did not feel good about the game (yes I am glad Mt Airy won) but I sure was glad that I got to experience the entirety of a high school sporting event at a great place.
