Athletes all over field.
This is the game everybody wanted last year, Now we will see it happen.
Shelby got few players banged up , so we got to get healthy,
Defense got to be more prepared.

At half though Huss only had 42 yrds rushing, but 3 passes for 148, 3 up for graps,
So really 3 toss up killed us, i agree gotta play better next week

Did Dax get to play 100%. Not trying to be funny... Just wondering
Huss was just that good, no excuses. Their coach was confident, he stated earlier in the week that they had moved some players around, got them in the right positions, and he also stated that their defense is as good as anyone's. From what I saw, I co sign what he said.

The thing that did disappoint me, though, in addition to the poor play in the secondary was that we had too many drops from receivers. Too many!!!! A couple of them were potential touchdowns. The receiver had the defender beaten with nothing in between him and the end zone, but simply dropped the ball.
We needed a game like last night's game, though. We faced some adversity that we hadn't seen or been in before, but yet, we dealt with it and won the game.

As for Shelby vs Monroe, the game will be as good as advertised, in my opinion, athlete on athlete with the better team winning the game. I noticed that Cameron Dollar didn't even suit up for East Lincoln last night due to being sick. And, before FBCofNc calls me out on injuries mattering. He's their star player, D1 commit at receiver. they had already lost their other superstar receiver in Sage Surratt who transferred in the preseason. We're talking D1 commits, not a couple of role players. Their quarterback had minus 6 yards passing last night.

We needed a game adversity and we got it.The Lions made the plays they needed to too win the game.As I have said all year our schedule was down this year with the usual top teams on the schedule not being as good.South Point I believe is the only team left but they have had cakewalk to the western final.Huss with a lot of very good athletes showed we had weaknesses we must work on this week as Monroe will be the best team we have played all year.

There's blame to go around. The dropped passes are going to happen when it gets colder and next Friday is going to be even colder. The oline will need to step up again so we can run the ball. Some of our big running chunks came at the end when Huss was gassed. Up until that point I thought Huss' quickness up front gave Shelby's big guys problems especially #58.

We are just at the point in the season where we have to play our best to win. That's the way it should be in the Western Finals. I think we can beat Monroe, but they aren't going to give it to us just because we are Shelby.
Far as the Huss game goes, man they didn't quit. There were at least two times where they were down and could have just folded and let us run away with it. That's what other teams have done all year. Not Huss, they came to win and played the whole game. Much respect for them, but I expect Monroe to be even tougher.

Check out CJ Ross's interception on WBTV highlights.Great downfeld blocking by the defense.

Didn't have much time to post much on last nights game but here are some thoughts about it and the Monroe game

Huss was very athletic ! Offensively three of their td passes we had great coverage I mean great ! The first one on north end zone Db jumped too early but was there for int! Receiver great catch for td ! What do you say but oh well great job huss there !Second one and we can argue all day but if they wasn't pass interference I don't know what is! Receiver pushed off both hands and it was so hard he knocked #2 down made the catch and waltzed to end zone! Ref was right there ! third the huss qb three into double coverage and Dbs were there but again a great reception for a very athletic receiver .... they get major MAJOR credit on those great catches for tds ... overall I thought the defense played well but we gave up BIG plays that were haven't done but 3 times all year ( 2 at crest and 1 at rs)

Defensively Huss was quick very quick but most times #12 had ample time to sit back and wait for the play to develop ! !hit a lot of the drag routes and #3 for us stepped up big time finding the open areas and making big catches at big times ... We ran the ball hard all night and most carries fought for every inch! Huss was a very good tackling team ... some of our plays against most we break initial tackle and off to races but huss swarmed to the ball as good as any we've faced this season

Bottom line we scored 48 points against the team everyone said would be the best defense we played all season ... yes we gave up some huge plays defensively but hey what can you say ! Credit to Huss for that !!!

Monroe will against be a huge huge test ! They have a couple huge receivers that have made some great catches as well! We have got to do a better job of coverage and I think we will ... they like to run them all more this season as well and again we will have to take what their defense gives us and stay ahead of the chains ... there are going to be bad plays during the game and we will have to keep our heads and just focus on the next play ! We did a great job of that last night ... penalties we still need to work on there were what 240 yards worth last night for both teams ?

Should be a great ball game and it's what everyone has wanted to see for two years ! It only gets tougher each week as it should be ! Good luck Lions ...

It's the 2nd year in a row EL didn't have a star player in the game against Monroe, but the score was closer than last years

This is a game I would love to attend if ED weren't still playing. I expect everyone in attendance to get their moneys worth.

Did Huss expose Shelbys defense in any way by putting up that many points on them? Or was it just missed assignments and blown coverages and not communicating,Monroe better try and get the tape of that game and pick it apart

It helped that Huss had some exceptional talent at receiver and they put them in the right position to do what they do best even if the Shelby defender is in the right position. You can expose them if you have the players(not just one) to put in the right position. Not everybody has ENOUGH of that. Monroe and Huss are probably the only teams that do. I'd pick any 3 of them to win the 2AA no matter who came out of the east.

+plus you have to get a break or two on special teams...Huss did not, but gave Shelby one.

Well....Huss sure did have a very nice onside kick when they created momentum in the 3rd quarter! That count or not? I give props for that...as an observer...coach made a great call and it was executed to their advantage....big call in context and credit is necessary in conclusion....sorry you missed that part! Great call by the coach!!!

why not just not even play the 2AA state title game. being its pretty much a given that the west will win it anyway.
