Borders sounds like a beast. From what I saw tonight I don't think that SP will offer much of a fight this year. They seem to be lacking the explosive running game since Bray has left and I just don't see them putting up many points on the Shelby D. I would not be surprised if Shelby doesn't take the CC title this year. Crest was in no way impressive and actually may be worse than last year. I believe they will have a hard time putting up points on the lions quick And smothering D.

That was one heck of a game...Since 79 i havent seen a Shelby squad that is has explosive as this team and quick strike....
Just need to cut turnovers down a bit....
On D..we bent but didnt break...need to get alittle better on run stop on corners..but we played against to me...best back in state...
Now Freeedom...very good team..Offense very good.size on line..2 great backs...and good Qb....on D there not that great..but good and i say gets better....

Nah, he's right. Camp is originally from that area. He began at Hickory before going to East Rutherford.
I felt it was a hard fought game between two really good teams. As the filmer for Freedom, it was hard to see the game and film.I am proud of our boys effort, when they got down 14-0 they could have easily gave up but didnt. I felt we made some key stops like in the int in red zone that was returned. I admit we got some work to do but we will get better. Shelby is a solid team and was a good test. this game will only make us better
I agree...Freedom is really solid on offense. ..great size...very good backs...There D not great but im sure will get better into year...good luck rest of year...I feel u guys go unbeaten till playoffs
You think? You do realize that we faced the best running back we will see all year tonight. Freedom will be a beast in 3A. I predict if Emmons stays healthy they'll be in the Western Finals.
You should watch ACR's Rico Dowdle's Hudl. He scares me more so than Emmons does. Seriously! He will be the fastest player on the field, he's very shifty, and posses great vision as well. He has size, too. ACR has moved him to quarterback this season, though, due to him being a freakish athlete and the emergence of other good speedy backs in their program. Dowdle has D1 offers.

They had slow dbs...our offense to many wepons....I do belive D got to work out a few things..but still played solid....

Hey and Calvin Camp played for the Newton-Conover football league most of his young years. Newton, then Hickory, then Shelby. Need to get that kid a passport.
Congrats to Shelby! Well coached as usual. As the QB develops he should be very good.
As for us, I think running the same exact play 20 times in a row probably didn't help....
but that is our coach. We have way too much speed and athleticism to run such a tight
stack offense. Hopefully we take some things from this game and get better.

He had some turnovers, but Darquez Lee really impressed me. I love his poise in the pocket, which helps the offensive line as well. RJ, although a two time state champ and one of the best quarterbacks in Shelby's history, often was quick to run around and scramble back there, and you guys would get on the board saying, "Poor RJ, our line has him running for his life." Our line was very good last year, and it's very good this year, returning all but one lineman from last season. Lee, if he proves durable, will put up huge numbers and break records in the process.

I agree Lion Attack..Lee was 5 yrds off most passing yardage in single game....Im not a fan of his throwing flat footed.
But he will stand in pocket...A few times he did telegraph who hes throwing to,good dbs will pick that up...He will only get better.

Yeah Newton-Conover thought Camp would be our next special running back but he signed with Hickory. Then signed with East Rutherford. Then signed with Shelby.
We need to stop developing these kids for others just to win youth games. See the whole state in four years. I love traveling too. Good luck to Camp. He is special, has been since 8 years old.
Freedom, may end up 10-1 regular season due to favorable schedule, but no way with the defense I saw last night will they reach western finals without vast improvement.
They gave Shelby more than I expected. To that I give credit and props. With that being said, I'm still not convinced, but I can see them being a little more competitive than perviously expected. I wouldn't have them in the 3rd round just yet though.
Patsfball, I thought your coach played a little to tight to vest the second half. I figure he was doing that to run clock and keep our offense off the field. I thought with your athletic QB and RB he may would have ran more zone read? Emmons would also be great taking direct snaps like Crest uses Harbinson. He may incorporate more stuff as the season goes along. Y'all have to many weapons just to line up and run at people.
I know Hitman. It drives me bonkers. I was very negative last year and want to be careful
not to say something that would hurt feelings. Hopefully we will open things up against

Our D lost a lot from last year.... 8 very good players, the DC and two other experienced coaches.
It really showed against Shelby. We applied very little pressure and got scorched in the
secondary. Good size and athletes on defense, so we look for improvements.
I believe that there is not another 2a team in the state that will beat Shelby,,,,early offensive mistakes in the season may bite you in the butt once or twice but what I saw from your defense is that they don't break...kind of upset that Freedom never changed up their offensive plays after halftime because I wanted to see Shelby's pass defense...I know Freedom has two beast running the rock but you also have to give your QB a chance....
