Shelby versus South Carolina playoffs

Since 5A South Carolina is a topic here, we thought we could share this.
2A Shelby plays East Surry this Friday in the NC 2A Western Finals.
Shelby has been in 15 of the last 19 2A Western Finals.

We thought this was an interesting comparison.

Back on September 10 of this season, 2A Shelby played 4A power South Pointe out of Rock Hill, SC.
After giving up the lead to SP in the first half, the Golden Lions roared back in the second half to cut the lead to 7 points and had the ball with 2 minutes remaining, before turning it over on downs.
SP, in garbage time, scored another touchdown to make the final score 51-37.

Rock Hill South Pointe will play Beaufort, SC this week in the South Carolina 4A Championship Game.

Earlier this season, RH South Pointe defeated 5A power Rock Hill Northwestern 40-35.
RH Northwestern two weeks ago took 5A power Gaffney to overtime before losing 16-13 in the third round of the SC playoffs.

Gaffney will play Dutch Fork this week in the South Carolina 5A Championship Game.

It appears Big Shelby might hold its own against the biggest and the best South Carolina has to offer

I’m a big fan of Shelby and they’re decades of success. Great 2A program. Watched them get destroyed 37-7 at halftime against South Pointe. Could have easily been a running clock.
SP put up 51 points on cruise control. They started putting in subs early. Shelby put up 14 points during 4th quarter garbage time. Shelby looked like a 2A program getting dominated by a higher division program. 🤷🏾‍♂️

I’m a big fan of Shelby and they’re decades of success. Great 2A program. Watched them get destroyed 37-7 at halftime against South Pointe. Could have easily been a running clock.

That is not correct.
South Pointe kept their starters in after halftime and Shelby adjusted their defense to put our D1 edge rusher harassing the starting QB into an unproductive 7 point 3rd quarter.
Shelby closed the gap in the 3rd and 4th to truly threaten by the end of the game.

This is why i said go back to the 2A board. You guys are hands down the most delusional fans of reality, of any program in the State. You guys had South Pointe on the ropes, and you had -12 yards rushing the entire game. Can't make this stuff up. FYI! if you run 50 to 55 plays a game, and finish with negative 12 yards rushing. You were being mauled, and you were not a threat. There was absolutely no reason for SP to keep starters in the game, and they didn't.

Same here..no1 here doesn't have hate for Shelby but don't come here beating ur chest about situations u nit pick to show how ur team is better than other teams in different classifications. I'll use Weddington for an example..they have been running the 3A brackets..steamrolling the inferior 4A teams but stepped up to the major leagues and saw what it was to play on the big stage. It's easy to pick on Butler and creek now but little do we forget how good they were...along with MP with Chadwick at the helm. Word of wisdom...stay in your lane before u get ur feelings hurt.

Yout passive aggressiveness is cute and humorous but fyi...I was close friends with our old AD Richardson which by the way is at South Pointe..the team that is playing for state in SC and our former AD which beat yall asses back when. Well he lurked and watched the forums here. Well he told me on NUMEROUS occasions he did reach out to Shelby..knowing how good of draw that would be....he said they either said no...schedules didn't match (they always had a game the weeks we had available...go figure) or jus didn't answer or return the call. So I dig u coming up here to 4A running ur mouth...make sure u know what's up b4 u regurgitate shit u can't back up.... Have a good day again sir

Love to see them against the Charlotte schools. I would especially like to see them against the Charlotte powers. Put Dudley and Wake Forest/Rolesville on that list as well.

They did play a NC 4A team this year. They beat a 7-4 ACR team 15-12. ACR was beaten in the 1st round of the playoffs by Hickory Ridge 31-7.

Exactly what I mean. Most years ACR has been 3A when playing Shelby. But now 4A. And they played SC South Pointe obviously. It's always interesting to me whether they win or lose because like 1A Thomasville back in the day and now 1A Tarboro, they punch above their weight class.

It more about a delusional guy from Shelby gloating about scoring points against back up's for South Pointe in a game that was over at halftime. In a failed attempt to collate their little 2A program competing with SC programs in the playoffs. Which was a disaster when he started off the post, typing Shelby.
