A good middle school team could have beat Mitchell tonight. After that showing they shouldn't even get a playoff seed

Not trying to jump into the fight too much lol. As I'm sure you are aware the Starmount team that faced Heritage didn't have their QB. But that team didn't have the defense to go much past Heritage anyway if everyone was healthy. Starmount's team this year is night and day different but especially on defense. New coaches. Just a different team. I know that may be hard to believe but it's true
They both played very sloppy. While I can kinda get the long passes that Avery scored on with 2 starters in the secondary out that doesn't explain the line play while they're young they've been improving but tonight they looked more like at the beginning of the season.
As far as bad calls the unsportsmanlike I'm usually more upset with the players than the refs, when coach is chewing his butt off then the player has done something he should have learned to keep his mouth shut. The only other one that I saw you were upset about was the pass interference well when you knock the receiver down then catch the ball then that's interference.
But ether even if Mitchell had won somehow at the end they wouldn't have deserved it as poorly as they played.
Pretty accurate. Best coaching on our end in a long time. I was shocked at how poor Mitchell was prepared

Well I realize they're sophomore heavy but they looked more like the beginning than the end of the season. And they might have come in a little cocky thinking it's just Avery but you can't do that in any game but especially in a next door county game with a team that had nothing to lose and also after the other county game you got beaten badly in, but I guess maybe they were still licking their wounds from that game and never got their head back into it. Who knows they're just kids after all.
Went to watch Robbinsville and Swain. Brutal to watch all the way around.
If the officials are so bad, why don't you go through the certification process and help improve things? We can't find enough people as it is.
So was Robbinsville short handed or did those kids who quit earlier this week actually return to play?
I know 2 of them are from and live in mitchell County. The one that was so bad was a young guy. He was terrible and after calling 1 for Avery QB signaling a 1st down, and one for him laying the ball on the field. He let the young referee know just how pathetic he actually was and got another one. Someone needs to get this particular guy a new hobby, because calling football games is not in his best interest.
I wouldn't be able to do that. I work at least 2 weekends a month and don't get off til late on Friday most of the time. I do agree that you guys need help. Short staffed and some that shouldn't ever ref a game and I get you have to use what you got. Anyways these forums are intended for fans, not refs. Having said that refs can be fans too and we witnessed just that in Newland tonight. Lol.
Really.... how old are you? Even though this hasn't been a rivalry in awhile. I graduated in 2002 and remember quite well the late 90's through 2013. I just ask all our Vikings (fans) to act like we've been here before. Because I have, it's been awhile but I was very "use to this type of thing". Actually spoiled would be the word I would use.
Right it used to be very competitive which actually is fun. I'd have to look back at my high school annuals to see my first 3 years at Mitchell how it went but I do remember my senior year 1982-83 season Mitchell won at Avery. Back then we were all little Mac 3A and it was very competitive conference '82- '83 was Mitchell first year playing in Mitchell's stadium and the first winning season 6-4 but one game short of going to the playoffs.
As far back maxpreps goes is 2004-05 season. From that season to the 2013-14 Avery won 7 to 3 , 8 to 3 if you count a playoff game between them one year both very close low scoring games and Avery won 4 years straight, up til now Mitchell had won 10 straight.

First congratulations to Avery. Big win for them. I will agree with the other Mitchell folks. That was bad real bad. If you go back and look, I had some major concerns in the early part of the year. All those showed up last night. Due to a weak schedule and some improvement from the kids they achieved more than I would have expected this year. (Especially dealing with the storm). However, tonight was just like they thought all they had to do was show up with Mitchell on the chest and they would walk away winners. Welp, let me tell ya. That didn’t happen. All credit to Avery for taking advantage. Playoffs could/should end soon for this group unfortunately. But man I will still wear my purple with pride.

Well how many were under classman? As that not the same team that played cherokee and 14, 24, 3 and 10 was on jv I beleive. I don't know how many lineman but 72 was moved to center.
