Butler had 2 length of the field drives to open the game, so this was all set up to be a high scoring shoot out (Butler's D was not going to stop the MC O tonight, probably to no one's surprise). But then AR-W got hurt early in the 2nd qtr. Butler still did OK in that qtr, scoring once on a 20 play, 96 yard drive drive and only trailing 21-14 at halftime. But then the wheels fell off after the break. Turnover after turnover after turnover in the 3rd qtr and that was ball game.
MC has been my pick all year to repeat, and they started out a lot slower this year than I was expecting, so I didn't know if it would happen or not. But they're coming together nicely now, so I think you're probably looking at this year's champ. And they return pretty much their entire two deep next year, so pencil them in for that one as well. Butler is still the only team in the state to beat MC since 2011, so with them now out of the picture, MC is feeling no pain right now.
