Rico Dowdle from AC Reynolds is a Parade All American

shelby was definitely the best team we played all year im so happy that rico is getting the attention and rewards he deserves i think he will excell at the next level he didnt make the all state team? that really is absurd but i wont take anything from the kids who did make it congrats to them as well

Awesome....Happy for the young man... What an absolute talent.. It was a treat to see him play in person this year.... Good luck at next level

The All State QB, Chazz Surratt, made the Parade team also. Dexter Lawrence of Wake Forest HS was first team D tackle.

Dowdle is a nationally elite high school football player. Glad to see him get the recognition. What all positions did he play as a senior other than QB. USC plans to play him at RB and expects him to see a lot of time as a true freshman.

East Lincoln’s Chazz Surratt named Parade All-America’s national player of the year
Surratt, who signed with UNC, holds career N.C. football records

A three-time All-Observer selection, Surratt threw for 3,546 yards and 51 touchdowns as a senior. He ran for 1,345 yards and 15 touchdowns. In four seasons, Surratt led East Lincoln to two N.C. 2AA championships and his teams were 55-6. He ends his career with N.C. records for total offensive yards (16,593) and touchdown responsibility (229)

i didn't read the article so I missed the other guys who made it.

Congtrats to them as well. It wasn't my intent to leave anyone out who made it.

I just found it amazing that a kid can't get some attention from his own state's sports writers (AP) but can nationally.

Yes, I know NC Preps was on board but the AP was as usual ignorant of the talent in WNC.

One problem when voting is what is the definition of "athlete" for the all star team. Is that a spot for a player that excels at multiple positions on one side of the ball, plays O and D at a high level, plays one side of ball but is a specialty teams weapon?

If a QB puts up huge numbers running and good numbers passing is he a candidate as an "athlete"? If so then Dowdle is the obvious choice. If the definition for that all star is multi position may be not as I am not sure what he played other than QB this year.

I support Surratt's selection as the all state QB 100%. Great player!

I expected. Just like seeing three from NC.

AhsCougar1 has a jizz willy for East Lincoln and is still butt hurt from the beat down administered by Mr. Dowdle and the Rockets..
Bama wasn't starting this thread to snub the other selections. He started it to point out the lack of recognition by the AP and to give Rico a shout out. Take a lesson from Btango he was able to add to the conversation without being a douche about it. If you have such a flamer for East Lincoln go start a thread about them in big bold letters.
