Richmond Compared to Scotland

In all fairness....Richmond is gonna be quick to bring up the past. Yes...no doubt that Richmond has a long history over the Scots. However with that being said....that was then...and this is now. I do respect their program more than I did 10 or so years ago. They work hard and deserve what they have. Their biggest fault is fan support to their own program. Nothing worse than faulting a coach for plays he didn't run himself. Richmond lost that game as a group. The whole team screwed up that night. Not the coach or his son. Outstanding guy hands down. I remember being by the Scots on their 2-8 and 1-9 seasons or whatever it was. Fact is these kids went 11-2 for the season and that ain't good enough for you. I was the first to commend Richmond on their win against Butler, but yall just ain't satisfied. In short keep blaming the coach.....ill keep supporting my team like I will this up coming Friday. P.S. I'll bring back my original post of congratulating Richmond when they won the game against Butler. This goes to show how quick the fans are to jump on the coach.
Scotland is definitely The power program in the Southeastern 4A Conference right now. Scotland has always had a strong program but for several years could not break through. Chip Williams changed all of that and the Scots have been on a roll ever since. However that is not to take anything away from Richmond Co. who still has one of the top programs in the state. I think the future looks very bright for both programs. Go Scots !

Since the Y2K or since the year you celebrated 1999 with Prince or when the Longhorns came up short or when Ricky Williams put on a wedding dress, Richmond has been confirmed Conference Champions(until 2010) and in 2008 State Champions. With still a great program, they have not been able to achieve the big stage appearance. What changed since 2011, is the work ethic still there?
In 2012 they came up 11-2 and did not reach the big stage. In 2014 the same effect; 11-2 and came short of glory. Why do teams like Richmond who's record stands out, lose in games that could easily be a demonstration of destruction with what they have?
The Rhythm stopped in 2007 where they were only losing 1 game per season, except of course 2001 where they lost 2.
8,9,10 fumbles(no one knows the exact count except the stat dude). Anyhow, that to me is embarrassing for a top dominating team as Richmond 190-27-1 to warp their historic story and make it even worse with this years TRAJECTILE LOSS. With what I saw, they should have went a lot lot further.

I do not think that is a talking point. The concern is where has Richmond been. I do understand your schedule but put that aside and just think 11-2. Now put that aside and think at most 10 fumbles in a playoff game.

This was a playoff game and not the first game of the season. I'd be upset if that was the first game but 10 fumbles at most on a playoff game and you have SPEED, AND A PROGRAM, EVEN WORSE IS THAT SCOTLAND CAME TO YOUR BACK YARD AND MADE IT LOOK EASY WHILE MAMA AND POPS was at the grocery store.....

Richmond - 7 largest classification state titles
Scotland - 0 largest classification state titles
Richmond - best winning percentage in NC history
Scotland - oh, geez...not even close
There's nothing to compare here. Richmond is the gold standard of North Carolina high school football, the team that all other teams in the state evaluate themselves against. Indy was built by Tom Knotts to specifically compete against Richmond, not against Scotland. Butler was built by Mike Newsome to specifically to compete against Indy and Richmond, not against Scotland.
To all of North Carolina's nationally ranked, nationally elite powerhouses, Scotland is just an afterthought. A novelty. A nobody who's done nothing of 4AA relevance in their entire history, and not much of relevance in any other classification, either (one lower class title ever). Richmond's power years come and go, but the target on their back never does.
The day when Scotland ever walks into Charlotte, beats all of our champs on our own fields (or even more impressive...at Memorial Stadium), and then goes home with our trophy is the day that anyone in this city will look at them in awe and reverence like we do at Richmond. I won't be holding my breath until then.

Before there's a hundred hate posts in this thread...and in fairness to the many good Scots fans out there (and there a bunch of quality ones)...it was NOT a Scot who started this stupid thread. I started a serious factual thread that is based on concrete facts. I might put a little bit of humor into it but I am honestly curious what is going on over your way with a great program that Richmond has.

I think the issue is with the coach's unwillingness to make a change when your other options have proven reliable. I don't know the correct answer, but that is what I'm reading.
5. My concern is why can Richmond absolutely dominate the non-conference schedules and blow through the conference most years but struggle when they come down the stretch? What happens in late Oct/Early November to these young men that suddenly makes them complacent? sloppy? etc. Cold weather? Basketball? Football burnout? Coaches getting too tough? Coaches getting too light? Coursework getting harder?
It's a trend that I don't like. I want to see a team get better and be playing their best ball in November, and Richmond seems backwards for the past few years.

SUV you're just a Bandwagoner, your school does nothing especially football to be at the top not on top so, you jump on with the Scots. As far as the answer to the hump that Richmond can't get over: It's simple. As the year goes on and other teams progress forward, Richmond gets to a point and throws it into neutral. When teams know weeks in advance how they are going to defend your offense and make no secret about it and then they do it; come on, that's not progressing, that's being predictable and that's what Richmond has become. Oh well, another year down in 2nd round. Time for baseball. Hope all has a great Holiday Season and spend as much time as you can with your loved ones!

Gentlemen, I by far am not board, bord, borde to just come here and have you bite the worm. On my down time when I am not in my Army uniform I usually spend my self taught artist clown arse doing little painting projects on a 30 X 40 canvas like the ones I finished below.

swett2victory you are a very talented antagonist, i would like to purchase the first painting,i believe when you are done with the Raiders they will make you famous. Remember they have a lover in Charlotte who will tell of there greatness. On a serious note how much for the painting?

I do appreciate it. I grew up coloring books as a child, then drawing cartoonish type creatures, then I slowly started moving up to black and white pencil, color pencil and now Acrylic. Next is oil. I wish I would have went the University route by I chose the Military. 20yrs and change now so I am ready to retire as soon as someone FISSES me up.
I have these plus a share of drawings here at home but have not decided to sell them just yet. Nothing towards you or anyone local but if I sell it here I will get little to nothing. So you ask how much?.I do not have a price on it......that all depends on the artist and there are different avenues to take this when reaching a price( time, material, gas, medium, ect).

I however have been here the better part of 15yrs and know his antics and call it like I see it as well. Don't blame you for taking up for him, after-all, he did a lot of research and took the time to write a nice LONG article about a team he has no affiliation with. Pathetic!
S2V, I want to thank you for your service. That being said, man you really come off as a douche. Scotland doesn't need you as an ambassador, Go Scots is bad enough, you keep posting about Scotland and Richmond with your big bolded font, like someone already said it's like you want people to be against the Scots. Stick being the Rams blowhard the Scots does't need another one.
