Reidsville vs NW Guilford

We don't play until the 30th. I know Hennigan is out vs Grimsley, but unsure if he's out vs us. Even if Hennigan is out, Nw still has a pretty good team.

If Hennigan is out against Grimsley, that will make things fairly interesting. Grimsley's not all that bad. A potential Tre Turner vs. BFW matchup would be worth the price alone.

NW Guilford is a tough place to win because of their atmosphere and huge student section. 2014 we had the better team and should have won but it didn't work out that way. This year same position except this time we have more depth on the line so hopefully we can come away with a much needed victory over a solid 4AA school.

In 2014 we had a couple of starters out including the Qb, think we would have won if we were healthy. We should be healthy this time around, should be a good game.

I am betting all the Reidsville people dont realize this but Hennigan's father was once the YMCA director in the early 90's. Great family

From the article in the Gboro paper this morning, it doesn't sound like Hennigan will be back. Any NW folks know more?
Hennigan did not play against Grimsley and will be out for several more weeks. It is being reported that he has a micro-fracture in his knee. They're saying he is out 4-6 weeks from a couple weeks ago in the SE Guilford game so he should be back sometime around the last few games of the season or just in time for playoffs. Hennigan takes this NW Guilford team to a whole different level. With Hennigan NWG is a legit Top 25 team in the 4A. Without Hennigan NW was returning something crazy like 19 starters this year so are still good enough to challenge teams like East Forsyth for the Conference Championship. They are loaded at the skill position even without Hennigan. NW has two other big time D-1 players at WR with Tre Turner (has about 16 D-1 offers) and Cam Cloud (has 3 or 4 D-1 offers).

NW is still running a spread offense but its more of a Triple option spread now. They spread you out to run the ball unlike the last few years where they wanted to spread you out to throw the ball. NW has a couple big strong hard running fullbacks in #1 Kyle Finnie and #25 Zach Tyler. If Reidsville doesn't slow down those FB's it will be a LONG night for the Rams. Then once teams start locking in on those FBs the QB #12 Jacob Leonard will pull the ball and has the speed to take it to the house from just about anywhere on the field. Reidsville will need to slow the Option and make the Vikings throw the ball to have a chance to win this game. If the Rams can slow the run down they better have a big time DB that can cover 6'4" Tre Turner on the edge. NW is very physical on the O-line as well and I think in the end they will have just too many weapons for 2A Reidsville even without Hennigan. NW rushed for almost 300 yards against Grimsley last week but struggled at times when they were in obvious passing downs. I still like NW in this one and I hope Reidsville can make it a great game but my gut is telling me NW by a few scores.

NW Guilford - 35
Reidsville - 17

I respect your observation but you haven't seen Reidsville this year. Unlike previous years this is the first year they are playing NW with a healthy team and with depth on the Offensive and defensive Line. I'm going with Reidsville 35 NW 21.

I hope you're right that the Rams are healthy and have more depth. One thing you will notice is a few of the Vikings play both ways at the skill positions. I hope Reidsville can make it a game because I'm going out this week and would rather watch a good game. If Reidsville comes in and wins this game I will say they are a legit contender this season to make a run. Their biggest problem in my mind will be matching NW size upfront on the O-line, matching the power on the inside running game, and matching the explosive athletes on the edge. NW is not as dominate on defense as the stat lines say. They are very suspect on teams that line up and run it right at them. They really haven't played a dynamic offense to date either. The best they have played was SEG and that's not saying much in my mind.

This is going to be a fun, fun game. Although they might not be as highly-touted as the marquee players from NW, Reidsville's got a few ballers of their own. The Ram offense will be by far the best that NW has faced. It'll be interesting to see how the Vikings handle Tanner Wilson. On the flip side of the coin, can Reidsville stop Tre Turner and Kyle Finnie from going off?

Can't wait till Friday. I'm sticking with my original statement. Reidsville by 3.

Put your mind at ease. Reidsville will make it a game.

Probably more so than you will like.

What are you talking about? More so than I'd like? Did you not hear what I just said... I hope it's a great game and I hope Reidsville can make it a game. If Reidsville wins I will be the first to come on here and congratulate them. That btw will be a huge win for the Rams. It will also be an embarrassing loss if it were to happen for the Vikings. There is no way one of the largest schools in GCS should lose to a small 2A school. NW has the big time D-1 players and they should have depth and numbers. If Reidsville were to win it would be a huge upset...I don't care if they are 5-0 and have won so many state titles in the past. It should be a close game but in the end NW should start to pull away in the late second early third quarter.

I like watching NW Guilford football but I don't like the fact that the best offense the Vikings have faced this year comes from a 2A team. Coach Rolfes has to do a better job scheduling if he ever expects NW to take it to another level. You can't play teams like Smith, Western, Northern, and (no offence) Reidsville and expect to be ready to play teams like Butler, Page, East Forsyth, West Forsyth, and Mallard Creek in the Playoffs. If NW loses this game I just hope they don't use the Hennigan excuse like they did against SE Guilford. Yes it was a big injury but they have 2 other Major prospects on the team one who is getting triple the offers of Hennigan as a Junior. If the Coaches didn't have a plan in place to get someone else the ball in case Hennigan wasn't in the game that just really bad coaching.

Northwest is the largest institution , enrollment wise, in Guilford County, Mister War Head, and the twenty fourth largest such institution in North Carolina. Greensboro's Walter Hines Page, with a mere four students smaller than Northwest, is the twenty fifth largest school in North Carolina. Charlotte Myers Park has the largest enrollment in North Carolina. Good luck to both participating squads in this athletic event.

I would love to see Northwest mix in a West Forsyth, Dudley, Hillside, Vance-type team into their schedule.

However, I would also love to see them keep Reidsville on the schedule. Not only because the Rams are a quality program, but also because Northwest will be the only competition Reidsville will have before the second round of the playoffs.

At least Northwest will have some good tests in their conference. I'll be surprised if any team in the Mid-State comes within 30 of Reidsville. The Mid-State is just plain sad this year.

Would it be an embarrassment to loose to Shelby, Lincolnton, East Lincoln? I'm a little bias but beating Reidsville is not an easy assignment. From a depth angle, NW has more than double the students. Almost 3 times. That can always cause trouble for Reidsville when it comes to injuries and late game stamina. From a talent standpoint, I feel we match up very well. Another benefit from being a larger school is you attract more college recruiters. I would say if you took Reidsvilles top key talent and flip flop schools, youd would see same offers on the board. I have no idea who will win on Friday, but I will venture to say NW will face some of the fastest and aggressive players you'll see all season.

Folks in Reidsville have had to put up with such condensing talk from people in Guilford County for many decades.

It will not be a huge upset for the Rams to win. In fact, I expect them to win. You will find out very soon Friday night that the Rams are just as big and fast as the Vikings. And they have athletes all over the field. And that will probably be a shock to you and others in Guilford County who have a hard time believing smaller schools can also play the game.

And yes, these teams will play again next year.

Au contraire Mr Warhead. You should take great pride in the fact NW is not afraid to schedule a smaller "powerhouse" school such as Reidsville. Much like the fact the Rams cant help that their conference is, well, downright pathetic, NW cant help the fact that the big 4A schools they like to schedule are not that great on offense.

But unlike a Dudley... or a Page... or a just about any other school 3A or 4A school in the Guilford County... NW is not afraid to go up against a high quality opponent that happens to be a 1/3 of their size.

Ok, first off it will be a HUGE upset if the Rams beat the Vikings. Reidsville has been beaten by NW Guilford every game since they started playing again back in 2013 and they are a very small school. If Shrine Bowl WR Hennigan was playing I would say the Vikings by as many as they want. 6'2 App State WR on one side 6'4 (15 or so Power 5 offers) Tre Turner on the other side and then Cam Cloud in the slot. That's the best receiving group in the Triad. Without Hennigan I would say that the Rams have a chance to win. NW was awful last year and finished 4th in their conference and still beat the Rams so size of school does matter. It matters late in the game when it comes to quality depth. Now NW Guilford has gotten back to what they do best and that is running the ball in the spread/option/wing based attack. If they get it rolling it could be a long night for the rams like I've said before. I've also said multiple times I hope that Reidsville can make this thing a good game. If they beat NW good job! NW offense can be tough to stop because one play they're running Triple Option Veer attack and the next they're going spread and attacking vertical with 6'4 WR Tre Turner. Like I said this will be a big challenge for the Rams but if they pull it off I will be the first to say congrats (not that any rams fans care lol)

Rams weren't very good last year. Might have been the worst Reidsville team I've seen last year, due to injuries and youth. The 2014 game was very competitive though and the rams were missing some players that year.
This would be a huge win for the rams though.

If that 2014 team was healthy I think they would've beat NW. They almost still did with just one man wrecking crew Rankin. That kid was a beast! If NW can some how just get by and win the few games before Hennigan returns they are a legit threat to topple East Forsyth and win the Piedmont Triad 4A for the first time since 2013.

Yeah I may go to that Nwg vs Ef game. That 2013 nwg was really good destroyed a pretty good Reidsville team.

Hopefully we used the bye to get other players ready to go. Our back 7 on d cannot be our 5 skill players on offense for entire game. Rams going to have to stop the run and get a pass rush as I personally have 0 confidence in our dbs. Gonna take team effort to win this. Let's go Rams!!!

This is exactly why I think the Vikings will win this game. It should be a close one going into the 3rd but NW should be able to pull away in the 2nd half. If NW gets their inside running game going with Tyler and Finnie it will be a long night for those Defensive guys. The Rams have to win 1st down just as much as the have to win 3rd down. If NW can just run their option attack on 3rd and 3 the Vikings will cruise. If the Rams can get them into 3rd and long and force QB Jacob Leonard to throw they can have alot of success. NW also has a very good receiver screen game and attack teams in a lot of different ways. In the end I don't think its about the skill guys in the secondary. Its can the Rams front 7 smash the NWG O-line? I'll be back this time tomorrow night to give a breakdown of the game. Can't wait! I hope this game lives up to the hype.
