I know it may not be feasible but really wish conference teams did not play each other in 1st round of any state playoffs in any sports. Take PAC6 volleyball what if Wheatmore and ER played in early rounds? One of the best 8 teams in state would have been sitting at home. Looks like if we can put a man on the moon or watch people grilling in their backyard via surveillance satellite we could make a bracket which would take this into account.
agree, the NCHSAA used to now allow conference foes to square off in round 1 but that has since changed. there's quite a bit of conference rematches in round 1 across all brackets this year and a lot of folks aren't thrilled about it.
Want to see conference teams do well even Randleman. Now they may pull a Villanova and beat Andrews but that is not likely. So other than having a maybe bigger gate what is the draw? Football fans are going to follow their teams even if it is 2 hours away so looks to me like matchups would be more interesting if it was against teams you don't see every year. They have 30 other teams in 2AA they could play that are not in conference? What if Carolina played Duke in first round of NCAAs? Big crowd yea but where is the fun in that? Just saying.

OK OK PG dominated Randleman especially defensively at least according to paper. Wasn't there. Was watching ER give up 21 points in about the last 6 minutes. UGH.
More immediate how are both teams going to do Friday? Randleman against the #1 Andrews and PG taking a 3 1/2 hour drive up to Mountain Heritage? Does either team get to practice more than 4 days more than ER?

I think that PG pulls out the win. MT Heritage has a QB that produces 90% of offense for them. I think if PG can figure out how to slow him down then they have a chance. I see it the same as the Randleman game. Slow Welch down you got a shot. I say everyone gets a chance to see them in action in 2 weeks in Thomasville.
It's not given that Andrews will beat Ramdleman a second time. It is hard to beat a team twice in one season. The first time they played if we had not jump on them early, it would have been a much closer game. I remember in high school we beat Durham Hillside 40 to 0, We had to play them in state championship and they were leading 8 to 6 with a min to go. We berly won ( William Penn ) 12 -8 with last second TD. The Andrews coaches are stressing this all week, hope the players are listening.
Kind of my point HARRYT. No Andrews is not guaranteed to beat Randleman tonight but they are favored. Randleman is a good team. If they were playing someone from another conference then their chances to advance might be greater. Hard to beat a team twice in a year yes. Hard to beat a team you have only seen film of a few games on might be even harder. Just wish conference teams could be split up to see how good conference is compared to others. Using my ACC reference I would like to see a Final Four with only that conference in it. That could not be accomplished if they knock each other off before they get there.

I tell you the truth Kidd. I agree and having a great coach like Handy it will not be a shock to me to see the Tigers take them out. I am pulling for all PAC 6 teams tonight.
