Let me preface this by saying I have no East Rutherford affiliation whatsoever. That being said Coach Russ and staff have done a tremendous job. 3 years ago they did not have a varsity football team because of apparent issues. That could have been a death blow to spiral into staying in a constant state of 1-2 or 3 win seasons for a long time, but whatever those guys are selling their kids believe in and play hard for them.

We get so caught up in who is better and pulling for alma matters and all those things, which is great it is what makes the game so special. But sometimes its nice to recognize someone for doing a really good job and essentially restarting a program. So props to the coach and his staff. Also school admin and community for allowing the guy to do the things that needed to be done.

Look East has always had athletes and good size … they have always been just a coach away (imho) last year when I went to watch the East v Chase I was impressed with the coaching staff and this year I watch the Brevard game and thought that East had a real football team and finally had a real coach that wasn’t afraid to coach to win instead of just trying to hang on and not loose. Well done cavs

Sounds like you got a good coach then. Hang on to him. Good luck against Brevard, it should be a great game. I know that previous games in the season can't always be a judge, but I think this one will probably be similar between you guys.

One of the greatest upsets ever, congratulations to East and the head coach that shocked the entire state.

Absolutely correct. So next in this next game, remember the unsung heroes behind the scenes! Celebrate the dedication of Coach Russ and his staff. They’re not just building a football team—they’re instilling pride, resilience, and a winning mindset!

Run defense or not I don't think anyone thought they were going to shutdown Reidsvilles offense.

I didn't expect the short DB's to do what they did either. Reidsvilles offense did move the ball up the field, but they just couldn't score in the red zone.

Not really, their run defense was exposed all season, everybody saw it, even me and my new glasses aren't even here yet.
Still won enough games to insure themselves of their perpetual home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Thats the one thing about Reidsville I have a hard time understanding, How they seem to rarely ever play on the road. With carefully scheduled non-conference games along with yearly domination of a typically weak conference they virtually guarantee themselves a #1 seeding come playoff time. This is an art in and of itself.

I would be highly entertained if you responded to any quote from 2nd To None Dynasty with this same verbage.

This year’s Brevard game showed their growth under the current coaching leadership.

Everyone sees it.
We would have more respect for them if they just admit it.
It helps also to have homers in charge of things.
Not so much art as it is enablers.

With carefully scheduled non-conference games, do you think this strategy might backfire if they face a strong team outside of their conference in the playoffs?

Given the Rams have won 5 titles the previous 8 years with 2 other appearances.... Probably not.

Last year was last year. This year is THIS year, Reidsville played teams with a combined win loss record of 57-77. THIS year, that made a difference.

And yet somehow, even with such a "terrible" schedule that was made 4 years ago with zero foresight for this season, SOS and OSOS were strong enough for Reidsville to get a 1 seed.
