It's 7 on 7...lolWhat going on with these NC teams .. it’s not looking good at all!... Anyone have eyes on this tournament?
I am glad to hear that. I saw the Vance players a few different times and my first impression both times was how small they were. Many of those kids looked like JV kids, they looked good buy small. Most of our starting lineup didn't play including our senior QB. We played with pretty much our jv team. They played good overall.. time 2 put the pads on now n get the big boys out there!! Its almost that time!!
Yeah plus u gotta remember this is 7v7 so u won't see and 6ft3 250-300lbers out there. The kids had a rough week so a well deserved rest was needed. Plus we played an excellent 7v7 vs butler, CC, and sun valley earlier in the week. It's almost that time again anyways..enuff of this 2 hand touch stuff.I am glad to hear that. Hoggard had the same problem on the defensive side of the ball. They only brought 2 starters and one player JV last season.
U cant judge these 7v7 preseason jamboree games...hell even the 1st reg season game of how a teams yr gonna b. If that's the case we can use butler as an example when we played them earlier in the week...we beat them at their 7v7 and it wasnt even close when we played everyone n they turned around and was 2nd place on Saturday. I agree some teams will underachieve but u cant judge that on how teams play in the middle of July on a 7v7 field.I witnessed a few games... and I did see a few backups in for a few teams.. Hough , Vance , and a couple others.. Not everyone was backups tho.. I seen a couple Starters missing from the offensive side of the ball.. defense had most of there guys.. I still feel like things should have looked better from teams that’s ranked so high in the I Meck...Don’t get me wrong... I know with pads on things will be different..but there are problems that need to be fixed defensively for sure... guys were running by defenders too easy! Should be some great games this year. Somebody’s overrated... we will see.

You jus know the shelby guys gotta come on here for something. Biggest wins they had n yrs with lil meaning n they gonna get some rubs in.I am just not sure how you evaluate a football team with being able to look at blocking and tackling. I think these things have some limited value from a preparation standpoint and I do think getting your kids competing in July can be important as well. I just know in the end your not gonna see MC in 5 wide more than a dozen times a year. There not going to be running rub routes inside the 5 yard line. There coming downhill.
I'm Shocked that self proclaimed DB University Hough who specialize's in 7v7, were only able to win 3 games. I heard they put up a great fight against each other?
Benched their temple commit qb...lost 2 shelby 30-13. I like the kid the few times I met him but I'm not sure about him n his progression as a qb. Great athlete 4.4-4.3 range at 6ft3 200+, jus my opinion vs stout defenses that can stop the run will b a problem for Hough because with them passing 2 win will b an issue. The maye kid would have been a better fit for this team...but like I said its jus my opinion. Myers Park will b an issue later in the yr for teams.I'm Shocked that self proclaimed DB University Hough who specialize's in 7v7, were only able to win 3 games. I'm not hating on the kid I'm jus pointing out what happened...when u sit the healthy senior starter because of poor performance in a 7v7...that's not good. Nagy was their heart n soul on offense last yr... hes gone...that barber kid is really gonna have big shoes 2 fill.Rising sophomore for Hough actually had better timing than the starting QB. Reads were better as well. I would never judge a team off of 7on7 but I will see weeknesses in the QB, the passing game, the agility of LB’s... and the coverage skills of DB’s..I would also never say that 7on7 competition is worthless!
No hate on anyone. Facts are facts! He’s not the only one tho. I just feel like if you’re a high school QB , you should know how to read a defense! Especially a rising SR!...I watched multiple QB’s struggle, and these are QB’s from teams that are ranked high in Charlotte!
That’s why guys get overrated!... If you can’t read defense at the high school level you are not going to do well against the competition!...You will rely more on broken plays and guys coming open late. Turnover ratio will be significantly higher!...Definitely won’t be able to handle blitz pressure! Unless you have a heck of a run game it won’t turnout good well without reading defenses! Most HS QB do not read defenses. Most throws are "HIM THROWS" Throw to him. You can break down many tapes and see this the majority of the times. He might see a curl and then a checkdown, but you cannot checkdown in 7 on 7.
So who in ur terms is "underrated" and who YOU think should b rated better than Sam?That’s why guys get overrated!... I seen him cheering for AC Reynolds n 71st on other posts.....hes trolling smh.I'm beginning to believe he's just throwing stuff out there, to see if it sticks now. WTH?
Cheering??.... you are funny!!...I just watched the film of a guy that most of you have Miles ahead of everyone else! For some reason it couldn’t get done!.. With 5 min left and you have the ball in your hands, SHOW everyone why you are the best in the Carolinas.. PERIOD. 13 points against CC. Sacks in crunch time. This my reason for MY overrated opinion!... Do it against the comp. Don’t tell me about stats against mediocre competition!... but I’m just throwing stuff out there don’t pay me no mind! LolI seen him cheering for AC Reynolds n 71st on other posts.....hes trolling smh.

So blue and gold I’m showing ignorance because I think high school QB’s should know how to read defense!... Buddy it’s ignorant to think not!... I was teaching 10 and 11 year old QB’s how to read defense!... You are never too young to learn!... If most of the coaches around here feel like it should be a “ him or him” throw them they are setting there QB up for failure!..I hope your not a coach if you believe that nonsense!
Reading defenses implies that a HS QB steps to the line, recognizes formation and has a firm idea of tendencies then checks out of a play and into a better option. Not only does this not happen on a HS level but it happens rarely in college anymore. Everything is RPO now with a simple read of a DE or LB. Now, in many cases there may be a deep to short read given to a QB on one side of the field. If this is what you mean by " reading" a defense then you are correct. However, this is not a read as much as it is a simple two step progression.
I cant speak for every HS football program in the nation but the vast majority of plays are called at the sideline and any check is made by the coach upstairs or on sideline. Most pass plays are designed to go to a specific receiver in a specific spot. Period. The most sophisticated offenses I have seen at the HS level may have some simple hand signals between a QB and receiver which dictates a route depending on whether a DB is in press or not.
FYI- WhatcanIsay has a pretty solid idea of what a HS QB does and doesnt.
