Post 1st Round Playoff Scores!

I'm sure there were some good games all over the state tonight but I bet nobody had a more exciting and crazy 4th Quarter than what RRHSJAX and myself saw with Roanoke Rapids and South Granville, whole 4th Quarter was intense, Last 4 minutes were INSANE....I'll share a full story at some point over the weekend

South Granville 20 - RR 16. Final

great to meet you tonight tarheelg!!! Good luck and safe travels next week
Great to meet you too, always good to meet others from the message board, and it's rare to find folks who know where Gates County is.....(in a related story, I hated seeing that the Barons lost tonight to Washington Co. who they beat in regular season; guessing there was an injury issue the last few weeks)....game's been over long enough for you to be home and I'm still too wide awake to think about going to bed any time soon, that was indeed a hard-nosed slobberknocker of a football game, both teams left everything they had out there on the field; it felt more like a 3rd Round game

Incase you haven't read it on the scoreboard or other sites, SG survives 20-16.....It was mostly a defensive struggled for 3.75 quarters......RR had kicked a short FG on first play of 4th Qtr to take the lead 9-6....SG offense got stopped and had to punt, got ball back with defensive stop and a touchback on punt brought ball out to 20, then the last 3-4 minutes were insane pandemonium: SG scored with leading rusher breaking loose for 41 yd TD run with 3:24 to play, RR gets big kickoff return plus an extra 15 yards for a late hit to start in SG territory, and eventually score to take lead to 16-13 with 1:09 to play.....SG gets a nice drive going with a pass completion, then a big run. Trailing by 3, SG throws a bomb to the end zone; one of the TEs is out there, but so were 2 RR DBs trailing the play and one of them picked it off right at the goal line, with a little over 30 seconds to play. After the pick, RR was given the ball at its own 1 yard line, tough to kneel when inside the 1, and SG had all three timeouts left. RR fumbles snap or handoff on first play, SG recovers at the 2 yard line, and scores two plays later with 0:15 to play. RR gets another decent kick return and has time to for two snaps but were unable to score...it was the ultimate "Survive & Advance" kind of game, where both teams gave it everything they had, and the only thing missing was overtime, will post my article/blog over the weekend for more specific details from the game

Here is the full story with full box scores....and as you can guess from above, the paragraph covering the last four minutes is longer than the paragraph covering the entire first half or the previous 20 minutes of the second half
