Two elementary schools…Fair Grove and Pilot. But keep in mind that, without that 1983 local bill that froze the district lines, all of the students in the current city limits would have gone to Thomasville City Schools. I believe that has only happened one other time in North Carolina history but can’t remember where. In other cities with city systems, where annexations occurred, they became part of the city schools.
Lexington’s situation is somewhat unique due to an agreement between the city and the county school administrations.
The only way it will change is through merger and redistricting. Not in my lifetime.
