It's rematch time here in Haywood County and this time the Pisgah "American" Bears (I dont see color) get the Murphy Bulldogs in Canton. Our Bears looked great in the last scrimmage from a potential standpoint and I'm excited to see our most talented players playing both ways. Last year I believe I picked the Bears to win by 35 and they didn't quite live up to that, but with us playing at home this year I am going to put my prediction at Pisgah 35 Murphy 3.

No way Pisgah has the defense to hold a Gentry coached Murphy team to just 3 points. I see Murphy winning 31-13

Murphy has failed to score a TD in a game exactly three times in the last 25 years, two of those three opponents went on to win the state championship. Point being Murphy isn't being held to three points.

They don't kick FG or extra points very good either.Bears by -7

Thought Murphy was going to have a good kicker this year but the kid hasn't been at any of the practices that I've seen. If it's a close game could hurt Murphy. I think Pisgah should be favored either way, there the home team and bring back more than Murphy. Not saying Murphy can't win but Pisgah should be favored.

Murphy has a new QB. I think you need to test him. Try to get into his head. I don't think the kid has QB'ed in a big game yet. Good luck to the Bears. Hope you take the dogs to the woodshed.

No way Murphy will score 31 points on our defense. Mountain Heritage couldn't even score one in a scrimmage game against our starters.
21-14 Bears
You didn't score against their starters , you didn't even get a 1st down in the real live scimmage lol

Actually, we did score against Mountain Heritage’s starters. It was a fluke touchdown by Wike who out jumped a MHS defender on a pass. :D

Our offense will be fine. I think it will be a close game, with the Bears winning by 4.

I just want to say that I'm jealous as heck of you guys. It is so beautiful where yall live and I hope that one day I will be able to move my family out there. We took hwy 64 and drove across the state. I remember stopping in Franklin and taking pics of their football field. Its so different over here in the east, aside from a handful of teams like WRH and Clinton the fans don't get behind their teams like they do in the mountains. Even though I'm a Northeastern fan I still troll through most of the topics so I can stay informed.

You are right. I am one of the lucky ones born and raised in the mountains. Best high school stadium in the Mountains is in Cherokee. IMO, Pisgah’s is the next best.

Thanks for that info, I will be going there this Nov for the wsop circuit and I will for sure go check it out.

You can never bank on what you see at a scrimmage. CC is a very football savy coach and would never show his hand in a public scrimmage. Even jersey numbers can be illusions. All I'm going to say, is that if our QB is on target Friday, Murphy is going to have a rough night.

Asheville high has North Carolina’s best stadium and it’s not even close.
Cherokee has a great small venue.

Lot more scenic, and better atmosphere at Cherokee than Asheville with all their panhandlers and weirdos ....

BTW, good luck to the Murphy Bulldogs......I always support the SMC regardless of which non-conference opponent they play!

He was finally at practice yesterday. Said soccer had been taking up all of his time.

Good for you. Me I choose to support a great guy who happens to be from Rosman. It's not sour grapes. I always come on here and tell the dogs good luck. When the dogs were playing for baseball championship, I went down and thru my support and offered my Congrats. In this particular case I choose to support one of our own. Go Brett.

Nope. It's big but always dark and depressing. The field seems like a mile away. Only stadium I watch my back walking to the car after a game. We won't even get started on their fan support. Cherokee is amazing. Surrounded by a National Forest with freaking elk chilling in the parking lot. No comparison

Based on what a lot of people say. The field and the atmosphere are top notch.

I've been to numerous games there in the field is no better than any other school in Buncombe County or other schools that have turf. They all look the same basically. Ask for the atmosphere it's not what you make it out to be. Really just a bunch of hicks standing around the fence yelling at the refs with a stench of stank coming down the river.

The only thing I smell is a jealous Mountaineer Troll....

You call our fans hicks, and my eight year old son has better grammer then you.

Watched some film on Murphy's scrimmage with Asheville. Big, slow, and easy to contain. Hardly any passing and a few plays for 5 or more yards. Low hanging fruit for our defense IMO

Your either trolling or a flat out liar. Murphy scored 4 times in that scrimmage and all four scoring plays were 30+ yards.

Last time I checked, Bret isn't playing friday night....Yeah, he was a great player for the Tigers, and has done a good job at both East Henderson and Pisgah, but turned Rosman down twice when interviewing for previous Head Coaching Jobs for the Tigers....Of course, I don't blame him for not coming back home because he's got a better situation at Pisgah than he would have at Rosman....With that said, I'll always have a lot of respect for Bret, and what he accomplished while wearing the Orange and Black, but I will always root for the SMC, and could care less what YOU or anybody else thinks about it.....PERIOD!

I said "some" film not the entire film. Wasn't impressed enough to watch it all. Again from what I DID see I will say it again. (From what i watched) They are big, slow, and easy to contain. Hardly any passing and a few plays for 5 or more yards. Low hanging fruit for our defense IMO.

Murphy 21 Pisgah 14 .. should be a great game . I’d like to see this one but I gotta check out my braves and see how we are rolling .

I’m a homer but I think Cherokee is great . It’s close and there is freaking elk chilling with you while you tailgate. I know I hate them but I also think Swain’s stadium ranks up there

Brett did turn us down the 2nd time after he was already at Pisgah. The first time he wanted the job but our lovely staff down at the compound in Brevard wanted to give the job to Freddie. All Brett wanted was a job for his wife and for some reason the people at the other end of the county could not honor that request. So Brett had to turn it down could not afford to only have 1 household member working. So we get the lovely Freddie. Now when things went south there. our school board the Brevard clique did go and offer Brett and his wife jobs. But Brett was already est. at Pisgah and he did not want to uproot family again. The Brevard clique never wanted Brett to have the job at Rosman, cause he is a good coach. The only reason we got a good coach this time is because parents finally stood up to the Brevard clique. I'm glad you don't care what I think. Just giving my two sense on pulling for hometown kids who are getting things done. A lot of people are proud of Brett that is why I will pull for him and the Bears. Like I said earlier I hope Bears take the Dogs to the woodshed!!
