Well if history continues to repeat itself I say Northside. Hard to b at a quality team twice. Will be a close one but I am going to say Monarchs
Well, East Duplin didn't have to beat an undefeated Clinton in the playoffs... because we beat them in the regular season.
You didn't even think Northside was going to get this far, so... anyway.
East Duplin is going to win. Why? Because they're better. ED has a better defense, a better offense, faired far better against common opponents and already beat Northside on their own field.

Must remember playoffs is a season in itself to coaches and players, playing at Northside we had 3 seasons, non conference, conference and playoffs. NS playoff road has been much tougher. I think our offense is doing great, and defense is still playing very well and ED will have a tough time with our defense. And even this All world defense that everyone will bet there lives on will let up points. Saw ED vs HC and Hertford could have won that game if they connect on 3 or 4 slightly over thrown balls. Don't under estimate the Northside offense. I'm not speaking from straight biased opinions when I talk about Northside or there opponents. And also must remember they just beat Clinton at Clinton. But Clinton was better? There offense was better? There defense was better? It's playoffs everyone comes to play and Northside at its best can hang with the best of them But give credit where credit is due, ED is a great team. Great coach. Good athletes. This game will be close
But to answer ninja. I'm going with 21-14 Northside. Why? ROAD WARRIORS. On the road since round one. Home field is nice but to the Monarchs right now away is home haha. Defense has more experience against this style offense since the last meeting. Offense will have a game plan I'm sure, east Duplin defense is great, but they can be scored on.
There is a reason you're on the road. Hope you've seen everything you wanted to see because the journey is over Friday night.
Certainly... 7.0 ppg all year 99 TOTAL points... remind me again how many points Northside stuck on us a few weeks back, my memory isn't what it used to be.
every team has three seasons. not just the "trend setting" Monarchs lol. you act as if thats something new. and youre right, our defense will give up points just like any other team. but not very many. check the stats. and yeah, Hertford did score more points on us than anyone else this year. WHY??? because they have the best passing game we have seen in probably the last 2 or 3 years. they couldnt run on us at all. can Northside pass like Hertford??? heck to the no!!! and i seriously doubt they can run on us consistently. noone has all year. and do i think Northside is capable of beating us? of course i do. they are a very good team. but i agree with EDPanther99, i still think we're better in almost every facet of the game. im not saying a lot better. but clearly better. does that guarantee victory for us? of course not. all it takes is for us not to play well, or just have a bad game, and Northside to capatalize on our mistakes, and they can beat us. when you get this deep in the playoffs, anybody can beat anybody. everybody knows that. but when both teams play well, usually the better team wins. and being i saw the first game between us, i have no doubt that we are the better team. and obviously NS isnt the only team thats improved since then, we have too. and you know very well that without their stellar passing game, that Hertford would have never scored on us like they did. its hard to beat a team when youre so one dimensional like they were. we mostly ran, but we mixed it up some too. we can pass when we need to. if we come ready to play, and play well, i think we'll win this game. also, you guys are right, it is hard to beat a good team twice. but i can assure you if we do it, it wont be the first time its ever been done. i just think we are overall a better team. ED has just as much momentum as anyone out there right now. This team plays with as much heart and pride as I've seen in recent years. NS is good, but the Panthers are better. Defense wins championships is what I've always been told. Look for a low scoring affair in this one. ED 19 NS 10.

No. I was referring to 1997 when we beat Clinton at Clinton and then lost at home in the Eastern Championship game.
Young gun 13, you make good points all valid. I read the ED post and they continually point toward the past. This is the present, the here and now. You mentioned the DarkHorsed possibly being better offensively and defensively. I think Clinton is but you know what you beat a better team. It can happen, it did and for that I tip my hat!

Ninja you know that I have never in all the years I been on here have given a score or have I ever said that Jacksonville will win. Go back and look. All I can tell you is this anyone who plays the Cards think that they are not in for a game or sadly mistaken. Because these dirty birds will get off the bus ..That I can promise you.
Thanks wiz, I am a true monarch fan but when it comes to coming on the boards I can be biased at times, but I have nothing but respect for ED I played against them 4 years in a row and it was always a fun time. It's honest what I'm saying. But when you have a lot of pride for your team you can try to one up everything everyone says. The fact is it's going to be a close game. Both teams are going to score and people are going to enjoy a show. Sure we scored 7 the first game but like you said both teams have improved but we will see just how much each team improved Friday. Much respect to the ED posters, just remember it's the eastern finals .

i for one have said the whole time that Northside is capable of beating East Duplin. but i also know that East Duplin is capable of beating Northside again. i think it will be a close game just like you guys.. but i still think we are a slightly better team, so if we execute and play well i think we'll win. im sure you think Northside will win. there's nothing wrong with that. we all have the right to our opinion. what kills me most of all is that just because Northside beat Clinton, many of you non East Duplin fans now seem to feel like Northside will automatically beat East Duplin. it doesnt work that way. the same way next week's ED vs NS game will be a completely different game than the last time we played (which im already aware of, but you guys keep reminding me of), next week's game will also be a completely different game than the NS vs Clinton game. NS might beat us, they might not. but just because they beat Clinton the second time around doesnt mean they'll do the same to us. i cant wait until next Friday night, so they can settle it on the field.
whether we make it past Northside or not i dont know, but this years team is loaded with more quality athletes than that 97 team was. that 97 team had a few superb athletes, but the rest of the guys were just tough players who played with a lot of heart. win or lose this years team still has a lot of heart, but we have athletes all over the field.
Never said that just because we beat Clinton we would beat you guys, I was stating it as in we went into a power house and won. Which takes a lot. You are right we all have our own opinions. just feels like when someone posts something some people are always trying to one up it.
I'm not trying to one up anyone. You're entitled to your opinion as am I. ED has been the better team all year. They've proven that over the course of 14 games... I've seen nothing to suggest we're suddenly going to stop being the better team this Friday night.

tough yes, but you guys make it sound like its impossible. even if NS does beat us, its not necessarily because we beat them a few weeks ago. either way im sure they will be ready, but so will we.

Everyone regurgitating that tired axiom... seems to me that it's much more unlikely for Northside to go on the road and beat Clinton & East Duplin in successive weeks.

Ed has not shown anything new since conference started till now because they have not needed to they run the ball control the clock play field pos and pass when they need to I am very confident that there are plenty of formations and plays that are practiced every day that have not been seen Panther faithful can think back and remember some that showed here and there to try out against competition and have not been seen since all good coaches have them. Defensively they make you 1 demitional and rely on quality athletes to cover the rest adjust as needed yes they gave up some fri hats off to hc they were the best passing attack that Ed has seen and were learning on the fly scout o can't recreate that level in one week

Aldridge vs Eason..... Neither could ever close the deal for a state title. Pollock vs Holley somebody is going to finally get the school there. Reminds me of old ECC where beating someone twice is hard. My pick ED by 2td, but Northside beating Clinton was a surprise. If Northside wins my predition is Pollock gets job offers from all over.

I wouldn't say Northside doesn't have a huge fan base haha. Just not consistent. Northside has had some huge turnouts at east Duplin. when I played for Northside I always loved playing east Duplin, always looked at the message boards to see what people would say just for fun. But I also really wanted to play the games at ED, by far my favorite away place to play was always ED. Northside and ED have had some of my favorite highschool football games there. I'm excited to go back and watch!
Doesn't matter how good your teams is there are always people trying to make sure everyone knows and reassure themselves, but the ED posters have a great knowledge of Northside which I love haha. It's football, people will say there team is better. And they may be right! ED may be better in most people's eyes, but as everyone knows it's the eastern finals and everything is on the line and anything can happen. I think the Monarchs are going to win, and I have good reasoning for it. As do the ED people for there team winning. It's gonna be a slugger and a brutal football game. How it's suppose to be
Got an honest question and this is coming from a guy who was a student under Eason and a person who knows Pollock a little off the field. Who is the better coach?
