Big game Friday night as Northeastern makes the 30 minute drive over to Edenton. Eagles had a bye last week while Edenton squeaked out a win vs Currituck 16-13. From what I'm hearing, Edenton is back to full strength after having a handful of players out with injuries. Coach Hoggard brings in a spread system with him in his first year at the helm. Regardless of Edenton's 4-4 record, they're still talented like their past teams. My pick is Northeastern over Edenton 28-21. Thoughts and predictions?

The truth probably lies somewhere between those two previous predictions. We just do not have the horses that we have had in the last four or five years.

True but The Aces main problems beside the injuries are the penalties. They had four td's called back against Hertford County because of penalties. If the Aces could cut down on their penalties it could be a close game. I saw Northeastern play Lake Taylor and they can be beat especially their secondary.

Hornet, your comments about Hertford County game are right on point. The Aces received 21 penalties for 185 yards in that game with 4 touchdowns called back. If they can get those out of their system the offense can score points. Here's what I hope happened: they played their worst game of the season against Hertford County, then had a hangover 3 days later against Currituck and were overlooking that game for the Northeastern game and that they will now play their best game of the season Friday night.

They going to have to play there best game of the season and need help from the refs to beat northeastern

Mr. Davis we will know for sure in a few more days won't we? It's definitely is going to be a physical game an a very emotional game with some un-sports-man-like penalties because the two team have been talking smack all week plus since Northeastern had a bye last week some of their coaches and players were at the game in Edenton when they played Currituck.

I'm guessing Lake Taylor could expose a lot of teams' secondaries....they are the #1 ranked 4A team in the state of Virginia on at least one other site, 6-0 with 4 of the 6 wins as blowouts or shutouts, and one of their two close wins came over Northeastern 34-27, where I thought I heard that 2 of their 5 TDs were scored on special teams, the more surprising loss to me for Northeastern was 10-9 to Hunt, who is always solid and never anybody to take lightly but I was expecting the Eagles to win that one, especially at home

The game we had a TD called back and we had a 3 player's get hurt 2 of them was our main players but still could have won that game and they 6-1 so it look like a good lose

In a battle of unbeatens, NE JVs score with 36 seconds left and convert the 2 pt conversion to beat the Aces 22-21.

I told yall they were going to need the refs to beat northeastern and they almost helped yall do it good luck the rest of the way aces

Don't put it on the refs Edenton penalties again in key situation and bad play calling when Edenton had the ball at the end of the game really hurt like I said in a previous post Northeastern can be beat and the Aces should have done it on 10/16/15 in Edenton.

Wow JamesDavis06. Please tell me and everyone else who was there and even those not there what in the world the refs did to help the Aces stay in the game?

Wow! What a game! NHS goes up quick 12-0, Edenton storms back and is down 19-14 at the half. Eagles get a FG after half and Edenton scores and gets the 2 point conversion to tie it at 22. 22-22 after 3 and then it gets tied up again at 29-29. Edenton scores on a big run BUT misses the PAT (foreshadow) and NHS retaliates with a 40 yard TD to go up 36-35. Edenton drives down to the 30 but fumbles the ball and Northeastern escapes with a solid win. Hoggard has a solid arm and can run the ball for Edenton with some solid players around him. Don't blame this on the refs JamesDavis06, Edenton is a good team and could have came out with the win. Did a great job shutting down NHS's running game. Big game for Northeastern next Thursday on TIME WARNER CABLE versus crosstown rival Pasquotank. Another classic Edenton/Northeastern game in the books.

Did not say they was not solid but come on they pick up a flag then the fumble we pick it up and they give to them refs had a lot to do with the fourth quarter but they going to win 1 or 2 playoffs games

Still not sure what you're talking about when you say that the refs had a lot to do with the fourth quarter. The fumble that you are referring to was ruled an incomplete pass and besides that was on our last drive when we did not even score so that contributed nothing to making it a 36-35 ballgame. That score was already in the books when the play you are complaining about occurred. Prior to that the Eagles were up 29-22 in the fourth quarter and we made two long runs for TDs to go up 35–29. The refs had nothing at all to do with the two scores that put us up. In any event it was a great game and like you I expect them to win one or two playoff games.

You got to give Edenton their props this is the third year in a row where the guys had to learn a whole new system which make a big difference than when you have played in the same system for years. If they make the playoff I believe they are going to shock some people especially if they continue to get healthy. I also believe that next season with the experience the underclassmen receive this year and the guys coming up from jv they are going to be very solid and do some damage in the conference.

Most DarkHorse fans would agree that Edenton Holmes was the best team Clinton played 3rd round of the playoffs in Edenton) until the state championship game when the played Shelby, in the Edenton game the DarkHorses were the beneficisry of some early breaks such as good teams do they quickly capitalized and when they fell into the usual running game the threw a knockout punch by throwing a unusual deep pass to Skinner for a TD which created a comfort zone they got to enjoy the rest of the game. But you could tell Edenton was a very good team

Hornet and Wizard thank you both for your kind words. Wizard when we played you guys last year in the playoffs you all had that been there done that big game mentality that we were lacking. Hornet, I hope you're right about us. Our leading rusher and fastest running back did not play Friday night but I hear he is getting better. If we can get everyone healthy and cut out the stupid penalties we may surprise one or two teams down the road. That may be our ceiling though this year.

Sar1, good question. He is one of the ones that has been injured. He plays soccer and went down in a soccer match with a hip flexor earlier in the season that just won't heal. Now it is causing him problems with his groin and quadriceps. Missed three games and is still recovering. He is back now kicking PATS only and not punting, kicking off or FGs. He did attempt a FG against NE but just couldnt get it done. Based on what we are seeing now he will probably not be a weapon moving forward.
