Qb at Alabama, hasn't even started a college game, and 1 million in endorsements. I'm stoked for the players, but damn this is going to turn into a shit show soon. 36 d1 players have signed endorsements for close to 1 million each. 17 or 18 year kids making that kind of money is scary in my eyes..... hope for the best but damn, its gonna be the same top heavy teams outbidding everyone for top level talent.

The NCAA has started something that is getting ready to spiral out of control. They can't even manage the rules they already have in place.

They had to be compensated some how. Coaches were getting $2M endorsement deals off the backs of their players. That said, I do think something needs to be put in place to help lower tier Div 1 and Div II schools have a shot at top athletes

Yes brother, the playing field will never be level at this rate. Clemson, Alabama, Ohio state, Oklahoma and who ever finds alumni or boosters to fork out tons of money. 1 million for one season in college. Imagine the cars and house and so on these guys will have. Wild times....

NCAA had no choice. They can’t do anything about NIL.

You're right brother, but nothing in place to make it halfway equal.

But your vols will have the boosters lined up. Same with UNC, in a few years we will tell who has the $$$$$$$$#

Pilot/Flying J and Dish Network are TN alums. They could make some nice NIL deals.

The Miami Alum started a new company that’s just for NIL that’s giving the players $6,000.

Saw that as well. Seen some endorsements are simply repost on the athletes twitter page, and boom 60k. The money transfering hands is unbelievable, especially to a former college athlete. Man have times changed.

They're being paid their market worth. Now eventually the companies sponsoring these players may realize it's not worth a million for an endorsement; more like 30k or 100k. But if people are willing to pay then I don't see a problem.

The end results putting that kind money in an 17 or 18 year old hands, imagine what problems could come of this? I could see 10k a year or so on, but million, come on now............ ex. Reggie Bush

They are being compensated.... very well... a free college education. Thousands and thousands of dollars. College football and basketball are over as we know it.

I think the NCAA has lost sight of the fact that these 17/18 year old kids at the end of the day are "Student Athletes". This means that education comes first and then sports.

As I said, a coach makes millions in commercials, based off a kid's hard work, but the kids should be limited to what they can make? Not even a high paying job over the summer most times? I'm not taking away from a coaches work but the player should be compensated for his image being used elsewhere. It's makes no sense that store can make thousands off of your name and image but you're not allowed to? You can not justify that dumb logic.

The NCAA is all about the money and this proves it. They say they have the student's best interest at hand but their actions say otherwise. This is just something else that they can turn their heads and look the other way on. After seeing what went down in the College World Series with NC State's baseball team they have no credibility or integrity whatsoever. Just my opinion.

Its turned into a job now. No classes, money like one million dollars,. What would you say playing for coach like Nick Saban would be worth to stretch your talents to your full potential? IMO it won't work out. To much money, big schools have even bigger advantage now. Highest BIDDER gets the horses.

All I know is the SEC is getting ready to make a ton of money.

The schools aren’t paying the players. The value of a free education isn’t part of the discussion with NIL. This is about marketing/branding $ in a capitalism society. If someone wanted to pay a park scholar (full academic scholarship, ncsu) or a morehead scholar (full academic ride, unc) to advertise their business no one would have a problem with it. The same should be applied to student-athletes.

The playing field wasn’t level before this. College Football isn’t setup like the NFL. Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State are playing on a different level because they care more and they show they care more with their checkbook. They invest more in football (coaching salaries, facilities, player resources) than everyone else.

Look at the SEC slogan — “it just means more”. Ha so perfect, so true. The game is different in the SEC because they care more in the SEC.

NIL will have its kinks coming out of the gate, but we’ll learn and correct things as we go along. It’s ok if it’s not perfect right from the start. This was the right thing to do.

**important thing is federal legislation, which is coming. NIL rules can’t be different on an individual state level**

NIL can work both ways as far as leverage with a player. A player may choose Missouri over Alabama because NIL $ could be greater for him as the starting QB at Mizzou vs middle of the depth chart at Alabama.

Mid-tier teams can use NIL to attract top athletes to their program.

Clemson got lucky with the Dabo hire. They almost got rid of him at 1st. Clemson can thank Kiffin for not wanting Boyd when he took the TN job.

got lucky? ok, so what? it’s no different than saying duke got lucky with coach k who many were ready to run out of town during the early years.

dabo can thank his own ability to sell himself. he got the interim role because the players loved him. from there he sells his vision and gets his AD to spend a million dollars on an offensive coordinator (chad morris) which was not common at the time. then spends money hiring BV as defensive coordinator. win some games and he’s convincing school and alumni to pour money into the program and the rest is history. dabo is the ultimate CEO style coach. hire guys to run x and o and he focuses on recruiting and money donor relations.

Imagine the kid from the hood that signs an endorsement deal for 100k-1 million and thinks he can just go back to the hood and hangout in the off season without consequences.

NCAA had no choice. NCAA lost lawsuits and states started approving NIL laws.

CWS was total BS.

On a serious note, this will end up being horrible for college football and the student athlete experience. Don't expect these kids to study in school with a pocket full of cash. They are all too young to have that kind of money. This will be a train wreck.

They could easily have mandatory financial management classes, being that they are at a school. I think this happens with NBA players(it's part of the Rookie Transition Program). It will help with fiscal responsibility. Plus not every young person is irresponsible, so let's stop with the doom and gloom.

Most P5 schools have created a program to educate their student-athletes on how to navigate the business of NIL.
