No one in the state should sleep on HPA. Very very big on their front 5. Ball control clock eating offense

Bolt, you had one person who's never seen andrews play so they were overrated based on their opponents schedule before he realized that their opponents schedule was tougher than a good portion of their peers.

A lot of good teams in the mix.

Shelby is head and shoulders above everybody and will romp to the 2A title. The 2AA bracket will be stout with a large portion of the best teams in the class playing in the big bracket. Andrews could go east or west and will make whatever side they land on even tougher.

Andrews is huge up front and very powerful at RB. They have at least 4 that can come in and pound. Their biggest issue is discipline and getting unneeded penalties. I know people do not believe just wait and see.

100% correct, if they can keep penalties down they will be extremely tough to beat.

Shelby will cake walk thru single 2A for three state titles in a row. They will not say it but I will. Injuries or not this team is extremely deep. Lord help everyone else if they get healthy again.

Looking down the roster they will be favored again next year. What other school has 90 plus out for football in 2A every year with 850 or less students?

I see what you mean

Dude you got the wrong Andrews. The one you posted record for is Andrews located in Andrews NC. They are a 1A school. TW Andrews from the PAC 6 2A's record

High Point Andrews Red Raiders. I am a Providence Grove fan, but I will give them credit. They can run the ball.

Should be full strength starting next Monday. DB that ruptured spleen I believe it back next week and DL that broke his ankle should be back.....Ruh Roh.

You made an interesting point...that we had thought about back at the beginning of the year.....90+ out for football with 825 students. You probably didn't consider that roughly half of those students are female. So 90+ of 425 boys.....in other words what school has 1/4th of their boy student population playing football?

'98 In the PAC 6 I say probably less than 5% of the boys come out. What is the secret. How do we get them to come out.

If you build it they will come. Alot of tradition at Shelby that doesn't happen overnight.

It's amazing to me how Andrews never seems to get any credit or respect. It's always our opponent was down, or this or that. Maybe it's our non-flashy style: run the ball, be physical, and play good defense that lulls people. Andrews is a body puncher when everyone else throws jabs. Ask any of the teams we've played if Andrews is overrated. We beat the snot out of two 4A teams, lost to another by a TD, and manhandled everyone else but yet someone who hasn't seen us play is butthurt because Andrews is ranked ahead of their school and says we are overrated. How about acknowledging the effort and hard work of the kids who played? Ask our opponents who game planned the whole week KNOWING we were going to run the ball yet we still drug them for 8 yards per carry. Underrate Andrews at your own peril!

Exactly. everyone wants to be part of a winner. Nobody wants to be left out. Have 3 bad seasons and the turn around process becomes tough. Football in Cleveland County is bred into each generation. Sport success starts way before high school. Shelby is a sport town. They are good at more than just football. Baseball, basketball, golf, and tennis is very good. Not wrestling, they fight like girls. Very good at soccer as well. Not many schools have success in almost every male sport.

Coach Ware told me at the beginning of the season that he thought they had a chance to be 2AA this year.

if Shelby ends up 2AA, the 2AA bracket would be the toughest bracket that the NCHSAA has seen since they split the classes.

ALLREAL Did a little digging on the numbers at ER last year the ADM for football was 821 so using 98's post as a reference if you take half that gives you 410. On ER's listed rosters for both varsity and jv for 2015 you have 70 boys on football teams with 8 boys dressing with both. PG's ADM for same year was 822,weird huh? They have 33 boys listed on varsity and 0 on jv but they have what at least 25 on that team right? So yes PG's numbers are down farther than ER.
However if you look at rest of conference the varsitys have from a low of 31 for Wheatmore to a high of 58 for Andrews with everyone but Andrews in the 30's for numbers. Add in around 25-30 for jv teams and you have 55-80 for participation. 80 being Andrews of course. While not the 90 Shelby has for about the same students it still is around 15% compared to their 25%.
I guess what I am saying is it is raining and I couldn't do anything outside so I looked around on internet to see if the 5% was exact.

once you go through the attrition process, that number usually settles in the 85-90 range for game 1

Newton-Conover has the highest ADM in history with a gain of 200 over 8 years and the program has seen 76 kids or less each year for 5 years. Once we suited up 90 kids routinely. Not winning has produced small numbers. Our other sports programs have been getting lots of state titles since the fall of football. 11 state sports titles but only one title in football, basketball, and baseball combined since 2007.

Hope Andrews go East again, that's the easest route to go, voiding EL, Monroe and Shelby. All those team in the east would not want it, the way we went through them in 2013.

I have little doubt Andrews would at the very least be in the east finals game. I think it is pretty nice of us to send them some good teams every few years like Andrews and Reidsville. Pretty soon we will be delivering teams from Asheville.

The east will find out pretty quick that Andrews is the real deal. Nobody in 2AA west begging to play them.

Stay on your side! Lol

HARRYT, there is this little team called Clinton that might have something to say about that bold statement, just saying.

Hey Kidd I get what you are saying I am sure 15% to 25% can the difference between missing playoffs and winning state championship. I did some math of my own. 15% of 450 is 67.5 and 25% of 450 is 112.5. That is a difference of 45 kids. If you took 40 kids off a state champion I bet you money they may not even make playoffs. Agree or Not.

Haha. Know your place son. I've watched Andrews and their weak schedule. Clinton's athletes are heads and shoulders above what they have. Keep expecting an easy route, you'll find out.

I totally agree with you that the more players you have on any sports team the better your odds are of doing well. More athletes means less 2 way players. Also higher numbers usually means more quality to chose from. When ER and PG were a 3A school they were a consistently better football team. When one middle school was down the other usually was better which led to a good mix in high school. Now with one middle school feeding each HS team success fluctuates more with same athletes coming up. I believe that some of our HS sports lack of numbers can be traced back to middle school teams that once chosen are convincing some athletes to not bother to go out in HS because they ain't going to make it. I think that basketball and baseball/softball are really affected by this. Agree or Not?
