Radio guys said since he was in the shotgun it was intentional grounding. Didn't make any sense to me.
Got off work at 7:00 so I went to the closest venue. Farley had a field day on a pathetic Bunker Hill. If Newton can't score 40 points next week then they are in trouble for sure. Maiden has three receivers who can catch anything around them. If Newton doesn't get it done next week they will finish 5th in the conference again. Congrats to West Caldwell.
Wow what a game to say the least would have never came to the misses fg but West dropped a 1st down pass that would have ended the game. West also had a fumble in the end zone. Refs threw tons of flags on both sides but two really good defense's for sure. Now Newton go beat maiden next week
WC beat Maiden the last time they played in Maiden. The WC-NC game wasn't as close as the score. WC had 100 yards in penalties and a fumble in the end zone in the first half alone and should have had at least a 21-0 lead. WC make's too many mistakes, mistakes they can't make against teams like Lincolnton and East Lincoln. Maiden-WC is without doubt the SD-7 third place game. Can't say Maiden belongs in the top tier with the Lincoln county schools when it's apparent they lack defense. If SC can put 28 on then then WC will put 40 on them and the Lincoln county schools will top 50
A few of us Lincolnton faithful ventured down to East for this game to take a peak before next week and I personally was ready to leave before the half. From reading this thread and from what I actually saw last night...the SD-7 will be determined in the next 3 weeks and will not go to the wire..East is a good team that to me hasn't faced a decent and consistent offensive threat yet and a half decent defense will really put them to the test...Bandys was seriously its own worst enemy on both sides of the ball....
Not sure how it could have been 21-0 when NC scored on its second possession. Both teams missed opportunities. NC had a receiver down field who beat his guy by 10 yards, the ball was under thrown on their first possession. The same receiver beat his guy by 10 yards again early in the 4th quarter, ball was over thrown. Slot receiver beat his guy down the seam in the 3rd quarter, he dropped the ball. Both teams had costly penalties, but none more costly than the two on NC in the final 20 seconds. Those two backed NC up and the field goal came up 3 yards short. Just right here NC left a possible 24 points off the scoreboard. Both teams made mistakes, both teams played sloppy, WC just made their extra point attempts.
If West wr don't drop the ball with 3 min to go it don't even come down to that kick cause newton wouldn't have got the ball back

Look at the stats dipshit. Y'all only had 234 yards of offense and WC had 365, I don't know what game you were watching. Final score should have been at least 28-6. 234 yards, that ain't crap. WC shot themselves in the foot the whole game. Coach installed a new cadence system and it was atrocious. WC is a 3 TD team better than N-C. Get serious, you bragged all week , now shut the F up and eat your Crow! And besides that dummy, spiking the ball outta the shotgun is stupid and a penalty

First off, I never said WC didn't win the game, or did I ever say they didn't deserve to win the game. I pointed out that both teams played sloppy and made mistakes. You pointed out mistakes made by WC. I pointed out mistakes made by NC. If you didn't see those mistakes and missed opportunities in the passing game, no problem, just pay more attention next time.
Second, score should have been 28-6? Really? So, which one of NC's touchdowns should not have happened, because both were drives by the offense. NC scores 12, you say they should only have had 6, but in actuality, there were the opportunities I spoke of for many more. NC didn't make those plays, but needs to going forward. If WC doesn't fumble, yes they would have had another score to give them a total of 21 points, not 28. Fact is they did fumble, just like NC didn't make their plays. Penalties? Yes WC killed themselves, but just as NC not making the plays or WC fumble, that is nobody's fault but their own. NC hurt themselves with penalties, just not as much as WC. As I said in original post, both teams made mistakes and played sloppy.

Couple of points. On the inadvertent whistle, the kid would not have scored. The WC defense stopped because of the whistle. It was a bad call but it did not make a difference. One NC TD that likely would not have occurred without the aid of the referee's decision is the second one. I was literally 20 yards away from where the pass interference was called on 11 for WC. It should have been a no call. 11 was completely turned to make a play on the ball and there was minimal contact initiated by both players. On the intentional grounding call that cost NC a closer chance at the winning field goal, the head referee made a decisive call and said that the ball had to make it to the line of scrimmage and did not. Was he right, i don't know.

Burke, actually all those girls in blue that were cheering along with the boys standing with them are all students at NC. That was a small part of the student section NC has at all home games. They were wearing blue in honor of the West Caldwell student that was tragically lost a couple weeks ago.
Thanks for the insight. I feel horrible now(seriously). Forgive me you guys. I remember they brought that banner over and the announcement before the game. I guess it was the stuff they were hollering over there after a while that sparked my sarcastic remark and not thinking at all bout earlier. I told my buddy that in the stands and even he was laughing and we're both Christians. Didn't mean nothing by it guys but I'm really sorry
Wanted to ask any Newton fan and yourself if they/you attended NC middleschool in the 80s?
Your principal was my great uncle. He passed in 09'. Joined the Navy when he was only 14 so he was a unique man. I sure miss em'
