My realignment proposal

I have posted my realignment proposal for conferences on my web site. It's not perfect, but no plan is going to make everybody happy.

Let me know what you think of it, and if you have any suggestions for improvements, I will certainly listen.

Here is the link:

Looks well thought-out. I do see two possible errors:
  • West Iredell is listed in BOTH 3A-4A Conference 6 and 4A Conference 7
  • Lake Norman Charter (4A Conference 5) is starred as not playing 11-man football. They did play 11-man this year, just did not play football as part of the South Piedmont Conference. Are they dropping football, dropping to 8-man, or is this just an oversight?

Some suggestions I think might work decent:

SW Onslow in 4A Conference 1

Red Springs and Fairmont in 3A Conference 2

Midway, Princeton, and Goldsboro all in 2A Conference 4

Union and possibly Lakewood in 3A Conference 4

I'd welcome Hickory but hard to imagine splitting them from all the Catawba schools.
I wouldn't mind that move, but it would make more sense and renew old rivalries to place Hickory with McDowell, Watauga, St, Freedom, South Caldwell and Alexander Central. That would give each conference 7 teams and be a more even split.

For Vance County, I would be extremely excited if this was our conference. We play J.F. Webb who we play annually and South Granville who is also in our conference and in the next county over. Vance County rarely plays Franklinton and these schools are less than 30 minutes from each other and the schools don't play that often. So I think that that is exciting. I mean Northern Nash is a ways away but I was expecting more Nash Schools to be paired up with VC. Also with this conference, you will have 6 non-conference games to schedule which you can use on other local teams, such as Warren County and Louisburg. We will see what happens when the first draft is released. But if I'm Vance County I like this conference.

the way Vance County don’t face Franklinton much, even though they right next door, just shows teams missing out on some real local action. If someone set up a conference to get these games crackin’.......folks could see some wild matchups and build up connections between the schools. Plus, with six non-conference slots to grab up local teams like Warren County and Louisburg, their more chances for rivalries and that local swagger.
