Dont tell me what I would do. How do you know that. I would not send my kids to any other school. Robbinsivlle is the only place for us. And I am not saying they are rich. I am saying they have a big advantage. So you are wrong. Continue

I tell you this....most parents and kids from Bishop McGuinness and other schools like WS Preps ......Charlotte Catholics (I bet you think that school is silver spoon school) Charlotte Catholics will make mincemeat of out Robbinsville football team quite easy. I am not talking about the size of the school. I am talking about the discipline and LUNCH PAIL attitude they bring to the football field. Bishop McGuinness has not have a great football team in long time and probably will have middle of the pack team for a while. I know some parents that send their kids to Bishop are hard working people that earn hard working money. They are not rich and some of them have two jobs in order to send their kids to a better school. If you have same opportunity to send your kids to better school, you would do it in a HEARTBEAT.

Don't judge people from other schools unless you are in their shoes!

Just because its a private school doesn't make it a better school!!!

Really the way it is currently set up now in the Western Highlands 1a/2a Conference is the only way that people will not have a cow around here. The core group of the WHC Avery, Mitchell, Mountain Heritage, Madison, and Owen have played together continuously for around 30 years, with teams like Hendersonville, Polk, Pisgah, Brevard, West Henderson, and East Henderson making up the other 2 or 3 teams to go with these 5 over the years. If Mitchell and Avery had to join an all 1a conference I guess the closest drive time wise would be those southwest foothills teams like Thomas Jefferson, Cherryville, and Bessemer City, but man that would just seem like an awful fit geographically and rivalry wise, just wouldn't be mountain football.

From the mid 70's to mid 80's, Avery was part of the old Blue Ridge Conference, which was made up of Avery, Alleghany, North Wilkes, East Wilkes, West Wilkes, Elkin, Northwest Ashe, Ashe Central, and Beaver Creek. Avery had to do some serious traveling in that conference, but in the 1984 or 86 realignment, the WHC was formed. It consisted of Avery, Mitchell, Mountain Heritage, Madison and SYLVA-WEBSTER. Not a bad travel conference except for that last school. Talk about a long road trip on a week-night!!

From the standpoint of a fan of a current MVAC team, I really like this Eddie. Not only do we stay away from the advantaged, but we lose Starmount as well. Most of the alignments I have saw have us ending up with Starmount though. Oh well, you gotta hope. Doesn't really matter in football, but the Rams have been all that has been standing between us and outright MVAC basketball championships.
