Almost there to the end... this week is very important for playoffs and seeding.

Oak Grove at Montgomery Central
North Davidson at Central Davidson
Asheboro at Ledford

OG will destroy MC, nothing to see here. MC is better than they were but only realignment can save them at this point if they want to get where they want to be. OG rolling towards a showdown with Central next week for the conference crown or at least a share.

Central is focused and revving at full throttle. North has now lost consecutive games to the Spartans for the first time since the 80s. North had a ways to go but hopefully a rivalry game wakes them up. North must score on offense because the defense will he gassed by the end if they can't make three and outs happen... Central is the clear favorite and once upon a time I would have scoffed at labeling them our rival... not so anymore...

Asheboro got their statement win last week and will try to continue their good fortune. Panthers are what the doctor ordered, as Ledford has shown no signs of competitiveness within the conference. Aboro should be good to go, then next week finally get their first win over MC to displace themselves officially from the conference cellar they occupied the last three years. Congrats to Coach Brown and his staff for the work they've done over there.

Thoughts?

Middle School standings headed into final week

ND 6-1
OG 6-1
CD 5-2
Ledford 4-3
Tyro 3-4
Thomasville 3-4
Brown (East) 3-4
South 1-6
Lexington 0-7

One would think but Central beat both OG and ND. Central lost to Ledford and Thomasville.

Three guesstimates :
I'm gonna say Ledford gets it together and " upsets " Asheboro by six.
Central Davidson over North Davidson by ten.
Oak Grove by thirty some over Montgomery Central.
P.S. Looking forward to viewing the North Davidson at Central Davidson game on the television set between flippin' back and forth to the Yankees and Dodgers event.

I had the same feeling about Ledford. We shall see.

ND 21 CD 20 Double OT what a game...
OG 30 MC 7
Aboro 51 Ledford 35

One week to go and OG has already got at least a share of the conference crown. Way to step up for ND, I feel bad for CD because that game deserved no losers. Aboro with a spanking to mark Ledford as their cellar replacement. Foozeball is like a box of chocolates...

Ledford’s been pretty decent the last 10 years. It was bound to go downhill at some point.
Ditto for ND. Wallburg was a bigger loss for Ledford imo. People will call me crazy but Welcome and Arcadia are better equipped population wise and probably athletically overall compared to Hasty and Pilot. Just an opinion. On the other hand OG got the best combo possible for athletes and funding the program.

Agreed, OG benefited. I’ve always thought Wallburg, Arcadia and Midway had the best athletes in the county.
Maybe LHS moving down in classification will help when it comes to sports like football. They still do pretty good in other sports.
Pilot attends East D and Friendship attends Ledford. Some of Wallburg attends LHS but it’s a smaller area closer to the High Point side.

Ledford had benefited from families moving to the district from High Point and Thomasville the last 10 years. Many of their better athletes grew up in Thomasville and transferred/moved in middle school or high school. Laurel Oak Ranch in N High Point and the Hasty area are becoming rental neighborhoods. OG also has gotten a few TCS kids over the years.
