MV plays a very weak schedule. Martinsville lost to MV last year 51-37 in a game in which Martinsville had 5 turnovers and MV had 1. Martinsville had 130 more total yards. Credit MV for the win, but I think you get the point. The game was much closer than the score with Martinsville driving late in the game at the 10 of MV only to throw a pick six. MV is ok, not great. They play a weak schedule in that they don't play William Byrd (Roanoke Area) like they did last year. William and Byrd beat them. MV is not beating GW Danville. That's a loss. Martinsville will fool you some this year. They have 2 Div 1 players and a bunch of seniors. 4 seniors-starters were hurt in the first scrimmage and they return this week. I know, they look ugly going by scores in the first few weeks, but trust me, they are much better than what their scores and record has shown. They have been wounded, wounded, and injured some more. By the time MV plays them, they should be healthy and trust me, the game will be close. Even if MV beats Martinsville, they are 7-3, but no match, no contest to be a threat in the state of Virginia to teams in their classification such as Salem, Lake Taylor, Dinwiddie, Blacksburg, William Byrd, Smithfield, Lafeyette, etc. They will advance to the 2nd round of the playoffs (final 16) and maybe, maybe the 3rd round (final 8) and be gone. No chance of getting past the final 8, and more than overwhelmingly likely, not getting past the final 16 in round 2, especially with Blacksburg, William Byrd, and Salem, and Heritage of Lynchburg all within the same area. All 4 of the schools above are at a minimum, 2 TD's better and Salem and Heritage are 4 TD's better. They will finish no better than 7-3, and with that record, that means they go into the playoffs with a low-bad seed and will face a Salem, Heritage, William Byrd, or Blacksburg in round 2 and it's lights out, trust me. At this level, the lineplay becomes to overwhelming for M. Vista, and the lineplay on the teams listed above is far and away better than MV.
