MAC playoff discussion round 1

Billy, from what I understand he wasn't ejected, just 1 unsportsmanlike penalty. He showed his butt though and I doubt he gets to play this week regardless. Coach Wilkins isn't one to put up with that non-sense. He and a couple others really embarrassed themselves and the whole team at the end of the game.
Well it's only fitting. They have been embarassing themselves for 3 months, no sense in stopping now.
We scored 6 points on Erwin. Weddington has kicked our good teams asses. They kicked Rico dowdle and aj Logan's ass big time last year before they beat ours.
I know this is a different team, but unfortunately it's a different team for us too. Weddington may have fallen from a 9/10 to a 8/10 this year but we fell from a 9/10 to a 5/10 from last year. As I said, we don't have one quality win this year. We couldn't even beat 2a teams by more than 14!!! Truth be told we should have lost to carver, Roberson, Erwin and Reynolds. Pathetic. We have a 20 percent chance of winning Friday. Hell we dont even know who is even playing friday! I can remember teams at Asheville that would lose a game and the players would be devastated, now we lose and the kids are like "well at least I look good, let me get on Facebook".

Sure hope your right, but it's us AHS fans have been spoiled threw the years. You can just see this team doesn't have it in them. I remember talking to a coach over the summer, he said he feels really good about this team, that it's up to them on how far they wanted to go. He said himself he thought we would be a 4th round team. Oh how things change, I know Erwin fans and everybody else are tired of hearing the excuses, from us AHS fans, but from what he had coming back off last years team, is disappointing very much, it's players that were on varsity as a sophomore and played better then and as a junior then now. Just tells you these boys didn't take summer camp serious if you ask me.
There were 3-5 guys that I thought over the summer would just be dominating people that have just been terrible. I've never seen anything like it before. Asheville typically has guys that are significantly better their senior years than sophomore years but again, we had 3-5 guys that we were really really depending on that provided next to nothing. I don't know how some of these guys look at themselves in the mirror. It's one thing to lose to Reynolds or one thing to lose to Erwin, but to be the only Asheville team in 14 years to lose to both is pathetic. And the worst part is, I don't even think they care.
Carson of Weddington gets all skilled players involved on offense. He's not afraid to throw the ball with a lead in order to seal the win. They have a DL stud from last year that handled #77. They play with an attitude that Asheville lacks this year. Very disciplined team compared to the Penalty Fest that Asheville puts on every week.
You got that right. The only times this team has an attitude is after the play or after the game.
A couple of kids from Asheville lost their cool and were removed from the game. One kid, #3 took his jersey off and made a real a** of himself. He was getting chewed hard on the sideline by the coaches.
That about sums it up. We have some serious attitude problems this year. Kind of like the kid ya'll had last year that socked a ref in the last few seconds of an Erwin game. It doesn't matter what the circumstances are, there is no excuse for a kid to be as disrespectful as some of these kids are now days.
Anyhow, good luck to the Warriors and Rockets tomorrow night. We don't have a chance at Weddington but maybe you guys will get a win. Represent the mountains well fella's.
I can't think of a more fitting ending for this team, than to lose in the first round, against the same team for the 3rd straight year, on their field, 130 miles away, in front of 70 fans. I know that sounds harsh, but they made their bed, now they can lie in it. A complete waste of a season for a team with no heart. I hope Reggie stays healthy and plays college ball. So much for this season for a program so used to playing on thanksgiving. The big dogs still have another 2-4 weeks left, we have 24 hours. We have basically 0 chance of winning tomorrow. 4 months ago I actually thought this team would be a legitimate state contender. What a fool I was. Goes to show you can't judge heart. It will take a miracle to win tomorrow.

There is no bluffing on my part. We scored 6 points last week against Erwin. We may not get a first down tomorrow. I'm sure weddington will take us seriously, they are a good team, the problem is WE don't take football seriously on this team
No Erwin is not bad. I think every year we beat them they always have a excuse. Erwin's early schedule prepped them for these games. Erwin by far was the more physical team, Asheville had multiple players getting hurt and we didn't come into the game timid because we knew we had played better teams. Asheville is OK and they will have a competitive game tomorrow. Our coaching staff actually played guys both ways last week and it showed we have a defense. Everyone talking about Reynolds and Erwin was in that game 20-18 in the third. Reynolds scored twice in the second half and held us to no points. Don't overlook Erwin because we have some athlethes and a great QB.

Based on the numbers, Weddington vs Asheville and Erwin vs Cuthbertson are actually pretty close and even...now obviously numbers aren't everything, just like simmons picked Shelby to beat Crest based on numbers...but the game was pretty close. I'm going with Asheville with the upset and Erwin too!
Erwin isn't a bad team at all. They beat us fair and square, but to even think for a split second they are gonna beat cuthbertson tomorrow and then go on some deep run in the playoffs is pretty ridiculous to think. We were highly overrated all year. We were ranked because we were 9-1 and we have name recognition, not because we had a legit top 10 team. We greatly underachieved this year and the Erwin game was the straw that broke the camels back, so people (mostly me) are ripping this team. Beating Asheville this year was no feather in anybody's cap. Again, I knew when Franklin pisgah carver and newton conover were all giving us all we wanted we were in big trouble. Erwin came ready to play last week and hit us in the mouth and like the rest of the season, we bowed down and let them kick our ass, instead of fighting back. Keep in mind this is the same Erwin team that was a 4th and 12 play away from losing to Franklin, was tied with Enka at halftime, was down 28-7 against Roberson and was down in the fourth quarter to McDowell. So to imply somehow that because they played a tough schedule earlier in the year, they are going to make some deep playoff run is absurd. Erwin really got up to kick our ass on senior night, and they did.

I haven't seen a single Asheville poster make any excuses. In fact every one of us has not only congratulated ya'll for beating us, but has since gone on to call our players on the carpet. I don't see how us saying we have players with attitude problems, who quit in tough games, who are lazy at practice, etc. is making excuses. We're just stating facts. Period.
I mean seriously dude, just take a look at what we're saying. Erwin has a notoriously bad run defense, but they stopped us in our tracks. That's not saying Asheville sucks this year as much as it's saying that when the time comes Erwin steps up and makes the plays they need to make. I don't see how that is making excuses. At the end of the day ya'll came into our house on senior night and gave us a fat lip. No excuses here man.
I guess we can find out tonight if we are truly a different team than we were 3 weeks ago. I have my doubts as well, but I do know Erwin has some talent. I remember thinking at the beginning of the year we actually could be a dangerous team by years end.
The question is did Erwin learn something last week? Have we finally put it all together? Or does Asheville really just suck? That is the million dollar question, and I truly don't know the answer. Either way it's a huge uphill climb in the playoffs for us this year. Even if Erwin wins tonight look at who we will get next week. Crest is nasty, and I don't think we have much of a shot against them if we do get to that game, but lets at least see if maybe we can rattle the big dogs cage just a little.

There is a lot of sugarcoating going on here by Asheville fans. They have a very dangerous team and I wouldn't be shocked at all if they beat Weddington. As for Erwin, they are dangerous too. They have 4 losses to teams that most any 3A team in NC would have lost too. They had a chance against Mt Paran and Reynolds. The Science Hill game was pretty one sided and you can forget Ootlewha. No chance there. Their biggest issue is playing down to opponents. They looked terrible against NB and Enka, but good against Asheville and ACR. I Hope the latter shows up tonight.
I think that Erwin could make a serious run in the playoffs but there is a major roadblock in the way! If we beat Cuthberson we have to travel to Crest. That should be the end for my Warriors. If we pull the HUGE upset of Crest we get Reynolds more than likely. The 3AA west is insanely tough!
Good grief I love how everybody knows more about the Asheville team then the fans that actually go to the Asheville games!
Dude they have no chance of beating Weddington! Unless a different team shows up other than the one I have watched this year and if Weddington is not as good as the last two years they might have a slim chance but they have not beat a good team all year that's a fact! And when a team hits them back they quit! I've been going to Asheville games for a long time and this is by far the most underachieving team I have seen at Asheville!
You are acting like Weddington is Crest or Havelock. They are a very good team and I watched them play Asheville and NG last year so I know what they are about. They are certainty beatable and Asheville is capable of doing it. I am pulling hard for the Cougars tonight..
BD, I promise you there is no "sugar coating" going on with us. If you really knew this Asheville team you would understand what we're talking about. I could explain it to you guys but I'd have to mentions players names in order to do so.....and I'm not gonna do that. If by some miracle of God we do beat Weddington tonight there is no way we make it past round two. Erwin and Reynolds are the only legit MAC teams going into the playoffs this year. No joke.
That's a complete contradiction. "Yea I think we can make a serious run in the playoffs, but we have no chance in the 2nd round" lol what the hell.
