Lincolnton vs Hendersonville rd 3

I don't think that is a fair accusation on the Lincolnton side to say they don't play defense, and I am not a fan (bahahahaha, trust me, but I do like Lincoln County to be represented), this is their first 2 years in the spread with a quick strike offense, I have seen it on the EL side since Byus arrived, here is the thing with these type of offenses that are loaded, they either score in record time or the result is a turnover or punt in 4 downs, the other team gets a lot more possessions and a lot of times shorter fields, I don't know what they avg. giving up but if you are a defense in a high scoring spread offense like theirs and you are giving up a 21 pt. avg you are doing pretty good. There will be games you give up more and some you don't, all in who you play and how the offensive coordinator feels, if he feels he can score on most possessions, bend don't break just don't give up the big play to the other team, if he doesn't feel like he can score at will, going to have to take some chances, blitz, go for the pick, block punts, etc.... . Just my take, good luck
I could go for days about our so called "play calling"...but I'll leave it be for another time...because I'm absolutely positive it will surface again...but to add...yes let's just outscore everybody and pray the "defense" can disrupt things on the other side...because once you hit 42 pts in a lead then the clocks also on your side....smh

Good point. Lincolnton's scoring stats this year compared to last year's final stats: Offense 2016 - 49.1 ppg, 2015 - 38.8 ppg; Defense 2016 - 21.7 ppg, 2015 - 15.1 ppg. So Lincolnton is scoring 10.3 ppg more this year but allowing 6.6 ppg more on the defensive side.

If this game is anything short of a barn burner I'll be shocked. Both teams have HPO's which was proven with the amount of points they both put up last week. I think Lincolnton comes out on top as long as the athletes are used like they should.

Final Score: 72-44 Lincolnton. Following a 27-27 half time score in which Lincolnton lost 3 fumbles the Wolves outscored Hendersonville 45-17 in the 2nd half.

Cordell Littlejohn threw 8 TD passes in the game....4 to Surrat and 4 to Givens. Surrat, who entered the game only one TD from the all time career TD reception record for NC, now owns all the NC HS career records for receptions, reception yardage, and TD receptions.

Better tighten that defense up....before you load the buses next week because the Rams will shut the offense down

Was there anyone on the defensive side of the line of scrimmage? LOL
Congratulations Wolves!

Might want to work on your O. 10 points at the half might get you a running clock in the second half.
Yep. What he said.

Looking very forward to next week. Shut down our offense?? Tell you what, King. iIf you do, I'll stick around and clean the portajohns in the field behind the visitors "concession" Stand. Will the old guy be selling drinks from the cooler this year?

What I don't get is how in the world did Maiden beat this team...as good as they are??? LOL.

On another note, more pertinent to this thread...Hendersonville had some nice players. 10 was excellent, in a non-starting role. The QB was sharp, and 7 is a fine receiver. And your fan base traveled pretty well, too. I've decided to drop my grudge against you for that loss in the 70's, and just call it even. Safe travels!

Gotta say, some great play by the Wolves. Maybe the best game I've seen 82 play. Offense, defense, extra points , finesse and force. 14 is something else, on both sides of the ball. 8 runs violently, and is closing in on the all time yards for a season. 5,3 and 6 have speed and heart. 11 had 8 TDs and will be a side note, lol. The kicker made two saving tackles, coaches made some great adjustments, and a Legendary player motivated the team at halftime to overcome a sloppy first half... 65 is nasty. 2 reminds me of a rock skipping on water, 73 plays big, 55 owns his space...Whew! Danged fine display of heart, will and skill.

Shout out to 40...injured blocking for a kick return. Pulling for you, kid. Gonna miss watching you out hustle and out heart players twice your size who have two good knees...Godspeed in your recovery.

GO WOLVES!

Thanks CM3 for that explanation. I know you musta thrown up a little in your mouth as you wrote that, but it makes sense. If you could possibly explain the positives of the no huddle play calling from the spread, you'd save my blood pressure on Friday nights! Lol. Soooo many coaches in the stands.... Do y'all get that from the orange seats?

Very well said....team effort goes a long way....when utilized!!!

Crazy exciting game. Hendo #7 was a baller. Very talented. The HHS young men played hard to the end and seemed to play clean and fair. Kudos!

The L-town offense is on another level right now. Just leaves me shaking my head... 140 points and one punt in 2 games. Not unstoppable but scary good.

After reading this for the zillionth time and heavily pondering the thought...I just have to know...what makes you positively think that you can just up and shutdown our offense like turning off a light switch...and trust and believe....the charter buses will roll into community stadium just like last year....No doubt about it!!!

Yeah, they need to play somebody. If we had that schedule our defensive sadistics ;)would look much better as well:)

Oh yes, Reidsville just does things because if an easy schedule. Never much success on the gridiron. Never have beaten Lincolnton. Charter buses will roll in. Hopefully the entire town does not evacuate out of fear.

"Evacuate out of fear" ..lol. I like that!

No need for evacuation, but if you'd truck some hot chocolate over to the visitors bleachers Friday night it would be much appreciated.
