predictions on this 3rd round match up? Lincolnton coming in looking as good as they have all season. looks like the Maiden loss woke some people up on this team

Should be a really fun game. Looking forward to Friday!

L-town > 45, Hendo < 20 but that is said with no lack of respect for Hendo.

I wouldn't sleep on this Hendersonville team though, they've consistently put up about 40-50 points a game. I'm excited for the fellas though, gonna be a great game!

Dispatcher, I sure hope our optimistic posters are right. I definitely know one of them and I'm pretty sure I know the other one. Both are good guys, both are smart and both know football.
Me, I'm a little pessimistic just by nature but I believe we win this one because we have the people to do it with.

My problem is I look for stuff that causes angst. I reasoned that their newspaper, coincidentally named The Times-News, did a story about their big win over Surry Central. I went to the website and it talked about their quarterback A.Williford, and him passing for a a school record of seven touchdowns and 498 yards. That' correct, 498 yards. Looks like most of yardage per reception went to T.Landrum, with fourteen receptions and 364 yards, another school record. Too tired to count, right now, and I try not to use a calculator but ain't that about twenty five yards per catch ?

Their coach Sosebee, said they were locked in and weren't going to be denied...Look, I know it wasn't the Wolves they were playing but it doesn't diminish the thought that they have a formidable passing game...There are some more comments and numbers about the Bearcats. If you'd care to see them I left the link.

I personally don't know much about Hendersonville but I know that this Lincolnton team is going to have the most athletes they have seen all season with possibly the best receiving duo is the state. #14 is a possession receiver who can take nothing plays and turn them into big plays and I haven't seen anyone all year keep up with #82 on a "go" route. The QB has the arm strength to actually throw it out there and let him go get it. Hendo better be able to stop the big play or I think this one can get ugly.

No disrespect to Hendersonville. They appear to have a good passing attack as did East Randolph and I expect them to score 3 or 4 TDs. But the Hendersonville defense has to be able to stop the Lincolnton offense to have a chance, and as ER and many other teams have found that's very difficult.

I'm glad Lincolnton is facing teams in the playoffs with good passing attacks because they will likely be facing a very good passing attack in Rd 4 (Reidsville). It gives the Wolves defense more experience defending the pass.

Let me ask a question. Does Lincolnton throw the ball a lot?

Should be an entertaining game but it's setting up what should be an epic game the following week. IMO, Lincolnton is the only team with a chance to stop Reidsville rolling to the state title.

I'd say Lincolnton averages between 15 and 20 passes a game. QB Cordel Littlejohn has a little over 3,000 yards passing on the season. RB Xavier McClain has around 1,800 yards rushing on the season too. It's a pretty balanced offense.

They will have a good matchup this week. Tykel Landrum is unreal. 1 throwing mistake by the QB and it will be a pick (possibly a pick 6). Also if Lincolnton doesn't punt the ball out of bounds they are pretty stupid. He will make you pay with a punt return to the big house. They better keep it away from him or he will make you pay. He has the whole package (WR, CB, PR, KR).

Ok, my previous reply was kind of in response to this then. I'm still picking Lincolnton by 20.

We don't punt.

Lincolnton's offense: Rushing... YPG - 234.7, 43 TDs; Passing... YPG - 245.4, 41 TDs. As you can see it is very balanced.

Hendersonville has talent at a lot of skilled positions, but if Lincolnton has people that can get to the QB, they will be totally neutralized. Reynolds musta had 10 sacks when they played the Bearcats earlier this yr.

QB for Hendersonville throws some lazy passes from the video I saw. Could be some picks for Lincolnton. I noticed he has thrown 17 picks. Hendersonville receiver that was mentioned is a baller on his highlights.

The amount of time I'm afforded nowadays to ponder the intricacies of football is directly proportional to the waning hours of the day I have to do anything not related to my current occupation. So, when I gather the time to make one of the very finite number of visits to this forum in an effort to gather a morsel of information about the fierce, yet unknown opponents we're to face this Friday night I have high (and perhaps unfounded) expectations to find a tumultuous conversation sparked by a raucous pack of Wolves fans. More times than not, however, I'm incredibly disappointed. Get with the program ladies and gentlemen. The inferiority of our opponents should be well known and directly communicated with the vigor and audacity of a thousand hungry Wolves assailing their prey. So with that I say....

Mighty Wolves 100
Harry & the Hendersons 3

The End!

Had a brief conversation with #82 when got home tonight....plus with our oldest original #82(Demery)earlier in the day..and we all agree that Ltown should win this game ...but we have to play the whole 48 minutes based off what we all observed on film....do what we've been doing and stand strong....

Zuke, my sincere wish for your latest 82 is that he catches a plethora of passes. And that his only punt of the night travels 68 yards and goes out of bounds at the one.
He's obviously a special kid. Best of luck to the Wolves. Since I'm tied up until then, I hope to spend a little time with my friend Lincolnton at the championship. I'll hold up my end......

Thanks....your wishes are our(the wife and I)very same indeed...I would say he's due but then again that's a topic for another day...just proud of him to this point of being a team player no matter what.....thanks again!

Hey if #82 doesn't get enough looks his way on offense just tell him to keep catching the other team's passes and we'll be good. Two huge picks last week. He played a great all around game. And both big receivers blocked really well on the outside for McClain.

Harry and the Hendersons...nice!

I was heartbroken as a youngster when the Wolves traveled to Hendersonville on a cold playoff night, only to return home at the wrong end of a 42-0 score.

Finally, vengeance. I will be satisfied if the spread exceeds 42.

GO WOLVES!

Neither team plays defense, I'm betting the final outcome resembles a basketball game. With Lincolnton winning something like 52-48

I don't think that is a fair accusation on the Lincolnton side to say they don't play defense, and I am not a fan (bahahahaha, trust me, but I do like Lincoln County to be represented), this is their first 2 years in the spread with a quick strike offense, I have seen it on the EL side since Byus arrived, here is the thing with these type of offenses that are loaded, they either score in record time or the result is a turnover or punt in 4 downs, the other team gets a lot more possessions and a lot of times shorter fields, I don't know what they avg. giving up but if you are a defense in a high scoring spread offense like theirs and you are giving up a 21 pt. avg you are doing pretty good. There will be games you give up more and some you don't, all in who you play and how the offensive coordinator feels, if he feels he can score on most possessions, bend don't break just don't give up the big play to the other team, if he doesn't feel like he can score at will, going to have to take some chances, blitz, go for the pick, block punts, etc.... . Just my take, good luck

My fellow Lincolntonians,

Confidence should never be mistaken for arrogance. Our young Wolves, while faltering to the Devils of Maiden, are far removed from inferiority. Speak your mind and air your grievances, but careful not to exude softness with your inconspicuously passive remarks. Howl with pride, dignity, and boldness.

Respectfully yours,
Tennvolsfan06
