Ledford 9 ND 7

And DCmayor, I don't really understand your tone here with that, it will help nothing, if you read the posts of the ones you called out, you will see they are very supportive of ND football. I for one don't get on here bashing players or coaches, do I always agree with their play or decisions, of course not. But I will support them as I have since leaving North some 25 years ago. I think any and all that want to come cheer and watch should! Everyone is welcomed!!! It is a loss and yes it is hard to accept, but, its a whole new season now and time to correct the mistakes and get better from them.

Some people don't believe in moderation. There are those who think the world is sunshine and rainbows and those who are all doom and gloom. I'm in the middle lol. I live in the grey.

He's made comments before. Likes to chastise people for talking simple football, even if it's not all yay and happy. Even had the sack to say, "but I'm just a former davidson county mayor. What do I know?"

I dunno. What do politics have to do with football? Nothing. Based on Obama, I'm inclined to believe most politicians are fools when it comes to sports... Not everyone can be Bill Bradley. And politics have definitely done only a bit of good for sports while causing a bunch of idiocy that wouldn't have occurred otherwise...

Outside of the town of Midway and Wallburg, there are no other municipalities that would have a mayor. Looking back at the towns of Denton, Lexington, Thomasville and Denton, there are no former mayors that are still living that have the technological wherewithal to create an account such as this, much less have any reason to give a flying crap about the intricacies of North Davidson football.

Haters hate on..... I’ve experienced bad coaching before at ND. None of you have any clue what your talking about. Lose Flynn and watch what would happen to North Davidson.... Fair weathered fans are the most dangerous. Y’all stay tuned. Y’all were AMAZING players in your day.. be a part of the solution, not the problem. Shake my head. You ALL should look in the Mirror and be really really ashamed.

Welcome to the board, but let me make myself perfectly clear, if you call out people by names again, your time on these boards will be short lived.

I can promise you that it’s not a former mayor of Thomasville. There are only two and neither are on these boards. But it’s amusing thinking about it.

34 for ledford was amazing. All over the field. He's their best player, not 23.
Weatherington is a great player but Reich is the best player on the field - you don’t make many tackles when you’re playing on the edge and shutting down the field.

Meh. Not about making tackles. He's a great db but overall 34 is better as a football player. He certainly didn't shut down the field from what I saw. He did get lucky that a few dropped balls didnt burn him. And made a hell of a tackle at the 3 to save the game. Speed is his thing and he needed it there.

#34,#50 are Ledford's best play. #23 is a great athlete. Technique is questionable. Needs play more loose and aggressive on defense. Shelby receivers would be a matchup nightmare specifically for him.

#50 is an animal on that D-line and 34 is a man child. Very smart and aggressive players

First I'd like to congratulate Ledford on the win and the CCC title. Hard fought game with no turnovers that I can recall. I feel really bad for #99 being injured like this on his senior season. Kudos to the Panthers for running a play right at his spot the next play. After that point our defense adjusted and played really well. I have some thoughts but I will say that whatever job we have we all make errors at some time or another so I'm not throwing stones but just making observations.
The procedure penalty before the first half FG attempt cost us 3 points as the attempt sailed right at the last moment.
Here is what I saw at the end of the game as it was right in front of me.
after the catch to get to the 3 yard line by #6(who played a great game).
Play#1 this play with QB was had resulted in 2 of our longest runs so no problem Ledford adjusted and made a great play.
Play#2 A pitch to the short side which put it on the right hash. Only play I have issue with in this sequence.
Play#3 We put #1 in the wildcat and it appeared to me that it was designed to get the ball to the middle of the field but he turned the wrong way but by the time he realized it Ledford stuffed it.
Lets come together and pull hard for our boys moving forward in the playoffs .Prayers to #99 and lets not be concerned about years to come stay behind this team and staff this year. The future will take care of itself.

Play #3 looked to be a fake toss to the right then come back left toward middle of field. I thought the fake toss was a bad idea as it took time away from going left to middle of field. Once they had 1st and goal at 3 I thought they would pound Maddox Johnson right at them and stay in the middle of the field.

Thanks for all the prayers for #99 Stephens thankfully there is nothing broken we follow up with the orthopedic doctor today he should be back and ready to go in the playoffs next week.
(JMO) Getting on here bashing the coaching staff isn’t riite thing to do the world is full of arm chair quarter backs and wanna be John Maddens we lost a game so be it this team and coaching will bounce back and learn from it and be a better team as whole as parent of a player this coaching staff has 100% of my support. (Not trying to start a debate just stating my opinion)

The clock is ticking now. How much longer before Oak Grove is the team to beat in Davidson county??
Team to beat may be a stretch. I think it will bring about a more balanced conference with the Grizzles being one of the 4 or 5 teams battling for the top spot!

I Dunno that school is beautiful, it makes North Davidson High look outdated, and I can see kids finding a way to get there. I could be wrong but my $$$$ is on sooner than later
Great deal of respect for Mark. Great coach and man. He has already done a wonderful job. When you say team to beat I hear continual dominance which I don't see. The school is beautiful but if a football player is concerned about how pretty a school is well...........

The thing is... Oak Grove is going to get the best athletes per capita in the immediate area. Midway, Wallburg and a bit of suburban Arcadia sprinkled in.

Thomasville is the wild card. The Bulldogs have a coach now and will always be in contention. Then there's Salisbury. North and Ledford are going to take a dip talent wise. Will coaching make up for it? Remains to be seen...

Tville may also continue to lose students and go back to 1A as well. If that happens Oak Groves competition and parity in the conference will suffer.

Ok, that's enough about the future. You'll get no more from me on that til the season is over... Good to hear about Blake. Our defense is great but when he is on the field it changes the whole dynamic of what we can do.

Good luck to both North and ledford in the playoffs. May we meet again... I also look forward to potential matchups with Randleman and a rematch with South Granville. Good to see what other schools have to offer if you don't obtain home field advantage. It's like a bit of tourism...

I can tell you south Granville has little visitors seating

Well that sucks cause we bring a lot of people lol! May have to join you on the home side and keep my head down haha.

As mentioned before, middle school/JV teams don't correlate to good varsity teams. However, Central Middle won the Davidson Co football conference. Maybe things will pick up a little for the Spartans in the future. I sure hope so for their program.

Gotcha. I had you confused with another tarheel of theirs. Go rams, dude. Bring it home.

Middle school ball is awesome. Kids are not old enough to really give lip but are old enough to pay attention when you're being serious. Best three years of my life... Joe Howard needs to be given a better opportunity. He could do so much based on what he gets the kids at Tyro to do. It doesn't always show up in the overall record because of athletes and numbers, but the man knows football.

I am a little biased here so apologies ahead of time, Ledford obviously has an extremely strong defense this year led by #3 Little (LB) and #34 Wetherington (LB). #3 Little, a Senior, was the CCC Defensive Player of the Year last year. #34 Wetherington, a Senior, leads the team in tackles and is the Defensive Captain. #22 Turner, a Senior, has had a strong year at Defensive End and leads the team in Sacks. #50 Shiver (Defensive Line), a Junior, is a large man on the line and hard to run at or block. #91 Dudley, a Senior, (Defensive Line) is the other player on the line who leads the team in Tackles For Loss.

Biased observation comes in here, #23 Reich has had little action this year as it relates to passes his way. This can be illustrated by the fact that the DB on the opposite side of him, #4 Martin is tied for the most INTs in the state of NC (2A) with 10 Interceptions. #23 Reich has not allowed a touchdown thrown to any receiver he has been asked to play head up on. #23 Reich is used in multiple ways as he plays Offense, Defense, Punt Return, and Kick Off return, which most on this board already know. Ledford as a Defense have only allowed 57 points this year (Average of 5 points a game) but the weak conference has not helped. Consequently, North has allowed less points this year and has scored more points than Ledford. Ledford has allowed 4 Receiving TD's, 3 Rushing TD's, and 3 FG's on the Season (6 points by Extra Points).

It is not a secret that Ledford is anchored by its Defensive Line and Linebackers so running the ball can be difficult, also allowing time for a QB to set up and throw can be difficult. If teams choose to pass on Ledford then they have to pick their poison. Throw to the side of #4 Martin who is tied for the most INTs in the state (2A) or throw toward #23 Reich who has 3 INTs.

Ledford's only loss this year is to Randleman by 6 points, who as of last week was ranked as the #4 team in 2A based on the NCHSAA Adjusted MaxPreps Rankings. Randleman ended the regular season undefeated and is projected to be a #2 seed. Usually the Adjusted MaxPrep Rankings is updated on Monday afternoon however since there are some games being played Monday night the updated rankings have not came out yet. Ledford has helped their case with the win over North and their only loss is to an undefeated Randleman team who is #4 in the state. I believe Ledford will get a #3 seed and North will grab a #5 or #6 seed.

ALL criticisms are valid and points can be made for or against specific players, coaches and teams. At the end of the day, it is high school football. Referees are less than desirable, Coaches put in long hours and do not get paid enough, and Skilled Players are the wildcard for winning teams.

North and Ledford will both be fine in the 2AA state playoffs. They are Senior heavy and both have extremely tough defenses. Their offenses are running more efficient, in my opinion, as we enter the playoffs. North has an advantage over the field because they have been there before as it relates to last year's run. Ledford has some advantages too as several of their skilled players are 4 year Varsity starters who have been to the 3rd round of the playoffs once during their 4 years. Both teams will represent the Central Carolina Conference well.

Also the future looks bright for Ledford still. Ledford Middle School team finished second in the league at 7-1, Ledford's JV team went undefeated this year at 9-0, and obviously the Varsity went undefeated in Conference play and finished the regular season at 10-1.

Excellent analysis, Reichone. As a Thomasville fan, I was very impressed with your team. Best of luck to Ledford and North in the playoffs. Both are teams that can make a deep run.
