They have ready started on the ground work for Lake Norman of getting turf. South Iredell may be next.
Hate to hear that. Football should always and forever be played on natural grass only. Though, I understand high schools often use the football field for other sports and do not have the resources, money and personnel to keep a grass field looking pristine all season. But, there are still plenty of high schools in NC with grass fields and they manage to make do.They have ready started on the ground work for Lake Norman of getting turf. South Iredell may be next.
U must never been to LN then bc LN has one of the worst fields in all of NC n iredell co. Turf was most def neededHate to hear that. No, I have never been to LNHS. Sounds like the people that were tending to their grass fields when they had them needed to attend some courses on managing facilities. If other schools can have nice grass fields, no reason LNHS could not when they had them.U must never been to LN then bc LN has one of the worst fields in all of NC n iredell co. It’s also the way that field was built - They too much of lift in field and it’s just never kept up esp later in year bc u have 5-6 different sports on it at 1 time - Turf was necessary and LN has been trying get turf for yearsNo, I have never been to LNHS. I don't like it, but I can at least see why high schools have turf fields with the multiple sports played on them and them not having the money and resources for upkeep that universities and NFL teams have. Just call me a back in my day and grumpy old man. I have always preferred grass over turf and grass is also safer and players generally prefer it over turf. It ticks me off more when universities and pro teams have turf. They have all the resources needed to keep a grass field nice all season and depending on if it is college or the pros, only have 7 to 11 games on their field all season. It’s also the way that field was built - They too much of lift in field and it’s just never kept up esp later in year bc u have 5-6 different sports on it at 1 time - Turf was necessary and LN has been trying get turf for years
Thank God!I didn’t realize this but seen and read where 3.3 million was not only approved for the new turf and track of Lake Norman but also renovations on visitor stadium as well. This is something South Iredell needs badly is new visitor stands which can hold more fans plus also replacing the aging bleachers they already have.
