Score was 72-4 at half could have been much worse coach sat starters, stopped pressing and made had team run set plays. LKN has a avg margin of victory of 45pts after 5 games with Mallard Creek being the toughest victory by 8pts.
West Rowan lost all five starters. They will def struggle this year.

I look forward to the LKN-WS Christian matchup. I think WS Christian is the only team better than LKN in NC.

If LKN wins first game against Carrollton High(GA) ranked last year #16 in the state GA. they would face the #4 team in the country

I was told last night that West Rowan lost 9 players from last year's team. Most possessions WR did not even get a shot off due to the ball being stolen away, passes intercepted, etc.
There is definitely some great teams in the tournament. I hope NC teams do well!
I said about the LN Men's team that their was a clear starting 5 but had a really good 6, 7, and 8 that would only get better with playing time.
For the ladies, with a few exceptions, I believe the best team the LN Lady starters will face is the LN second team! LN picked up 2 transfers that are really good and have a freshman who's potential is really high.

No disrespect to South Meck they are a very good team ranked 25 in the state prior to the game. LKN dismantled them! They barley could get the ball past half court 1st qt score was 29-4 LKN half time score was 54-9. LKN coach subbed in bench players and did not allow the score to get out of hand final score 72-17. LKN ability to make 3s as a team at very high volume, press off makes/misses and athletic deep bench is unique for a public school. If they win there bracket at Cherokee they should get national ranking like in 2023.
Looking at the east region….Rolesville is looking like a contender from the region. Lost by 2 to Cannon. Of course, it’s still very early.
I was there also, and I texted my daughter (teacher at LN) and told her the half time score would have been something like 100 to 10 +/- if Lake Norman had hit even a mid range % of their shoots. But when you are missing lay ups, OMG and they still beat the daylights out of Statesville. Most of the time (actually) Statesville could not get the ball across the mid court line.
That trapping match up full court press LKN does off makes/misses is daunting especially if their opponent does not have 2-3 above average ball handlers. They man up deny the primary ball handler at all times which generates so many turnovers "easy points" and they don't come out of it until you beat them with fast breaks or your blown out.
I have only seen two teams since summer that have competed with Lake Norman meaning single digits. That was north meck and Thomas Dale out of VA. Thomas Dale beat them by 4 in early summer and is LOADED with talent. North Meck lost by 1 in OT in a game that was a battle. The girls Lake Norman added took an already really good team to a team that is dang near unbeatable imo. They are well coached shoot the ball well but I think the biggest improvement I have seen in them is their defense. They are tough to deal with for 32 mins. You better have some depth.
LKN wins first game 50-33 over Carrollton (GA) at Cherokee Invitational. Was able to stream the game and glad I did. LKN was pressed through out the game and handled it well. Carrollton had to extended because of LKN ability to make deep 3s leaving room for cutters with the motion offence. The also run really good baseline/sideline out of bounds plays very well coached. LKN plays nationally ranked #3 MaxPreps /#7 ESPN Hebron Christian next who beat Cherokee 75-57. Looking at the box score the game was tight the first half can only assume Cherokee wore down some point in the 3Q. Can only hope LKN keeps it competitive🤞

Just looking at the scoring and rebounds it appeared that LN JR Kelsey was the one that played up to expectations. She has committed to Navy and even though she is usually not the top scorer, she is the best on the team in my opinion.
That is not to slight any other player, just a recognition that she is really hard to stop.

Looks like Langston Hughes beat Hebron Christian 55-52 in the tournament but Hebron Christian beat Langston Hughes earlier in the season. Both are National powers and both only have 1 loss to each other.
