This is a two part response to tonight's NE/Kinston game.

1. Hats off to Kinston for capitalizing on the breaks that fell their way tonight.

2. They exposed our weakness with that middle screen...NE should have picked up and adjusted but they did not. Good game planning Kinston coaches.

3. The qb #17 was like a timex watch, took a licking and kept ticking. Someone said he wasn't getting touched...well ask him...he should be in a bucket of ice tonight..but he hung in there and flung that ball. My son popped him SEVERAL TIME early, but he adjusted and got rid of the ball in the 2nd half.

4. #32, 56 and 66 are GROWN MEN on that defensive front! Gave us fits all night.

5. #80...the first female kicker that I have seen get actual playing time in a big game....nailed her kicks like a pro!

6. And finally, #1...the smallest man on the field....and the QUICKEST! He hurt us with that 50 some yard run when we had him boxed in on the sideline...great run.

Now the 2nd part of my reaponse. NEVER in my life have I seen such a one sided football game! I guess the Hertford County game pissed somebody off? Here is what I saw.

1. 1st and goal from their 5 and 4 plays later we were 3rd and 35 from the 50! 3 back to back to back penalties on NE.

2. The NE qb scrambles to the outside to avoid the rush and is 2 steps from the sidelines and throws it downfield, out of bounds. He was called for grounding!!

3. TD called back because of a phantom hold when no NE player was in sight?

4. Is the band allowed to play when the opposing team has the ball? Or is that just a college rule? Somebody look that up?

5. One official called 7 penalties. .
All on NE, none on Kinston, even after he saw the Kinston player kick our kid
when he was on the ground!

6. When forward progress was stopped, they allowed the play to continue, while the Kinston players attempted to body slam our rb. But in the same breath blew a play dead when our rb shook off the tacklers?

7. Pass interference calls on crucial 3rd down plays against NE...Kinston only had one called when we scored the 1st touchdown.

8. Clock doesn't run with less than 2 mins to go for an entire play...officials run only 3 seconds off the clock!

9. Though we should have caught the interception the previous play, the game winning td catch was as blatant a push off by the Kinston receiver as you will ever see! And the official was standing right next to both players...no call.

10. And finally...I checked the weather report....it hasn't rained in Kinston all week...yet the field was muddy and damp..really Kinston?

As I said earlier, if they win ANOTHER game I will be shocked...unless they have the same officials of course. I enjoy watching GOOD games regardless of who I'm cheering for....officials like that spoil the entire experience....disgraceful.

People need to understand that refs have no affiliation with one school or the other. They are screened and will never be sent to a game where being biased could be an issue. There is no home cooking. I don't know what the radius is, but they travel a ways to get to the games they officiate. And Kinston and SWE area little over 30 miles apart. We haven't had rain either, but we did have some last week. Field is still damp and soft.

Heard Andrews added sand. Didn't help?

No, didn't help. Both teams slipping and sliding all over the place. Running backs could not plant well to make cuts. Several times Clinton's RB's had opportunities for long runs but were tripped up by the "Turf Monster". That being said, I agree with Wiz that they should consider a turf field since that stadium is so heavily used.

ever since the field took that good soaking a couple weeks ago, it has been pretty soft. It was not watered or altered in any way I can assure you

SWE'98, you REALLY had to be there to even fathom what I'm talking about! No affiliation or not, Kinston IS NOT that perfect of a team to not have penalties called against them. That is a crap excuse that just because the officials are not from the area that they aren't biased. Who knows...one of them may have attended Hertford County way back when? I don't know, but I know the difference in penalties was quite shocking....and allowed Kinston to remain in striking distance all night. Now SWE'98, we are just preparing you for what SWE may get next week in Kinston...so don't call sour grapes on us just yet. I commend the NE coaching staff for being able to keep their composure last night...I would have been thrown out in the 1st half after the Kinston kid kicked my player and nothing was done. I'm a realist too...every big play that we broke but didn't score, I shook my head because I knew we wasted a opportunity. ....the very next play each time, the yellow flags came flying. This was the 3rd round of the playoffs....and we weren't that undisciplined as the penalty yards made it seem. Damn shame.

Guys-I have to disagree that officials are not allowed to referee games or schools they may be affiliated with. I've personally known refs call games and they live in the same county as one of the teams playing. I've seen refs call games and they had close family members playing for one of the teams.

You never and I mean never know what ties a ref may have to a school. The ref blatantly ignored the Kinston player kick the NE player while the staff and sideline went crazy as it happened. And as one poster said one of the officials made calls all night against NE. He made calls from the right side of the field when plays were ran to the opposite side. There was the wrestling play as well. No whistle.

Thanks flyfalconsfly. ...you OBVIOUSLY were at the game last night. Everyone that agrees with the refs have YET to comment on the kicking of our player.....but they saw EVERY other play...smh.

I stand corrected. I thought that the association made evey effort possible to put distance in between refs addresses and the games they officiate. And I hate it when a ref from one side makes a call on the other side. Its like dude, really? There is no way u saw what you are calling.

In this round of the playoffs, the referee crews come from a region that neither team playing is in.

Long time reader first time poster. I was standing on the NE side all night. I’ve never read such blatant BS in my life and find that I have to respond.

1. 1st and goal from their 5 and 4 plays later we were 3rd and 35 from the 50! 3 back to back to back penalties on NE.

There was a 10 yard holding penalty, and two obvious false starts on the WR on NE’s side. That made it 3rd and goal from the 21. But I understand you want to exaggerate to make it sound worse.

2. The NE qb scrambles to the outside to avoid the rush and is 2 steps from the sidelines and throws it downfield, out of bounds. He was called for grounding!!

In high school football there is no “outside the tackle box.” #3 threw the ball OOB while being chased to avoid the sack. That’s intentional grounding in high school football. Legal in college and the pros not legal in high school. Pretty sure someone else tried to tell you that in the other discussion.

3. TD called back because of a phantom hold when no NE player was in sight?

The holding foul was on #28. The NE coaches were yelling at him after the play. It was a good call. #79 and #72 were holding all night. You’re lucky they didn’t have more holding calls.

4. Is the band allowed to play when the opposing team has the ball? Or is that just a college rule? Somebody look that up?

In high school bands can play anytime they want to. Again college rule not a high school rule.

5. One official called 7 penalties. .
All on NE, none on Kinston, even after he saw the Kinston player kick our kid
when he was on the ground!

Not true. That same ref called a pass interference on NE’s first TD pass. I also remember him calling a false start on KHS and a foul on the Kinston snapper when he moved the ball. So if he called 7 penalties then at least 3 of them were on KHS. You can't split 7 more evenly than 4 and 3.

No one was kicked. The Kinston player tried to pull his leg away from the NE player who was lying on the ground holding it. It’s amazing that you think you’re smart enough to know what another human being saw.

6. When forward progress was stopped, they allowed the play to continue, while the Kinston players attempted to body slam our rb. But in the same breath blew a play dead when our rb shook off the tacklers?

Total BS. The refs let both teams play and gave runners an opportunity to break free. On NE’s last drive, they killed the play twice when #4 was gang tackled and trying to strip the ball. I guess you think he was going to break away frimnghat mob.

7. Pass interference calls on crucial 3rd down plays against NE...Kinston only had one called when we scored the 1st touchdown.

More BS. I remember 2 pass interference calls on NE. One of them came on 1st down, was marked have the distance to the goal and didn’t even give Kinston a fresh set of downs.

8. Clock doesn't run with less than 2 mins to go for an entire play...officials run only 3 seconds off the clock!

Actually they took 5 seconds off the clock, taking it down to 1:55. It doesn’t take that long to block a field goal. They took more time off the clock when the timer didn’t start it later in the final drive. The head ref even went on the microphone and told the timer to start the clock when he blew the whistle. The refs were on to the clock operator.

9. Though we should have caught the interception the previous play, the game winning td catch was as blatant a push off by the Kinston receiver as you will ever see! And the official was standing right next to both players...no call.

More sour grapes. Why weren’t you complaining about the officiating last week when a TD was taken away from Hereford? Because the call went in your team’s favor? Because you’re just pissin’ and moanin’ your sour grapes.

So please stop spewing this BS. You lost get over it move on. Basketball starts next week

Yeah I'm sure Swett2victory drove to Kinston last night and watched two teams he cares nothing about.

I notice you didn't dispute any of the points I made which I'm sure others who were there can vouch for.

#OWNED

If there really was a problem with the refs, have the coach send a tape to the NCHSAA for review. If they see that calling was biased, they will not use that crew again. However, it will not change the outcome of last night's game.

It's just sour grapes sasha from one unhappy parent. I watched the game. NE gave it away in the last minute. Otherwise we wouldn't have heard a word of it.

Good luck to your team if they're still playing and good luck to all the teams playing in December!

Yeah, mine is still playing (South Point in 3A). I was checking out the 2As since we will be moving down the next realignment and came across this post.

Every thread you are in, you are complaining about officiating. Obviously things didn't go well for your team and your children last night.

It goes to NCHSAA and the booking agent of the crew automatically. Then forwarded to the crew.

That wasn't a fair shot Sportsnut17. ..I just read your comment, but I understand how it goes. Just blew off some steam HOURS ago...and you can understand when you blood is involved you tend to view things a little differently than most. It's a dead issue on my behalf, my apologies to the board.
