Kinston At Whiteville

I bought a nice gore Tex rain suit from cabelas that I’ll wear Friday night. It’s the Johnnie Morris elite guide coat and pants. Almost 500.00 I wore the pants to one game a month ago cause it was light rain but they were so warm I pulled them off at halftime.

This man hates Whiteville so bad. Still sour from us taking his beloved coach Bob Lewis years back.
40 years ago there were no concrete bleachers on the home side. Several upgrades all around the stadium that he must not be aware of.
You got your concrete bleacher before we got the same exact one in 1984. Hate Whiteville? I have no hate for Whiteville. I'm just not impressed with their facilities. Been to many games there (not just against the DarkHorses) and nothing has really changed except very expensive video scoreboard that just ran commercials when we were there. (Have they ever pressure washed that concrete bleacher?) I just think Kinston is the better team and is more prepared by playing much tougher competition.

Behind the bleachers are a very nice field house that was built in the past few years, not for the fans though, except for the bathrooms. Again, can't do much on the visitors side because of the baseball and football shared field. Think we do a good job for the team when they play at home and its a definite advantage to play us at Legion for the Pack. Wiz I think you are wrong with your pick but you have been right a lot, and I respect your opinion regarding this pick. Don't know about defending the Clinton teams and their rogue coach the last couple of years though..............

I think what that Clinton coach from last year, Cory Johnson, did was so low. First he recruits players from all over the 910 area and builds this “910 All-star” team which is fine whatever it’s cheap but I guess legal, even though I bet if they were investigated during his time at Clinton he’d been shut down. Then he leaves Clinton highschool and the town hanging out to dry takes the best players from the program and takes the trip to South Carolina. Makes all this buzz about bringing back culture to Marlboro county just for them to get shut down because he isn’t capable of making stars only recruiting them. He ruined the season for the Marlboro County dawgs especially the seniors, and the Clinton seniors too. Had the players stayed at Clinton, I don’t think they would’ve been the same team from last year but Clinton still would’ve been comp.

What year did we get the concrete bleachers. Were they there when Chester and the boys won state. I thought it was shortly after that. Sure doesnt seem like 40 years ago but Wiz may be right. If so, I stand corrected. I thought it was late 80's to early 90's. Buck or Strick..ya'll know?

Im not sure if the bleachers have ever been pressure washed or not. Whats that got to do with anything we are talking about? Theres only so much you can do with Legion Stadium/Field. Limited space and you dont want to take away from the historic atmosphere thats been there so long. The locker rooms at the baseball field have been updated, new field house behind concrete bleachers and a scoreboard that many colleges would envy. The coaches do a Hec of a job keeping the field and diamond in top knotch form. Don't know what else they could do to impress you but who cares anyways.

I've been reading these forums for a long time. I can't remember you ever showing much respect in your posts for Whiteville. I have been to several of Clintons home games. You may not remember but I met you at one of the playoff games...the year your sons team won state. I even went to Chapel Hill to pull for you guys over Shelby. Respect!!

I will agree that Kinston has played a tougher schedule but the only win that stands out is E. Duplin and they had a down year. The 2 Ayden -Grifton wins don't hold much weight in my eyes. Barely got by S. Columbus and we beat them handily in season. I'm not going to say that they can't win but hard to believe it will be by +21.

Don’t get it mixed up, I’m pulling for kinston first! An ECC eastern final is something we haven’t seen since Wallace and JK last met, or maybe it was SWO in the mix, either way I need it once again!

I think whiteville and Kinston will be a great matchup! I hope whiteville isn’t undermining this Kinston team just because of their recent years, if so they’ll be in for a rude awakening.
East Duplin and Wallace played in the eastern final two years ago. Great game

I see this game as a toss up but will give the slight edge to Whiteville. Home field advantage and weather favors the Pack. Kinston has had a great year and based on stats has some skill people that can hurt you. One good thing for Kinston is they have seen their share of the Wing-T offense the past four years playing WRH and ED and then South Columbus this season so it will not be foreign to them.

The earlier posts about Whiteville and Legion Stadium sure brought back some memories. I think some on here are far too young to remember the Wolfpack and how great some of those teams were in the 80s. The 85 team was probably one of the best teams to not win a state championship featuring the great Patrick Lennon at tailback and a defense that gave up 6 points the entire regular season and 37 total in 13 games. Frank Ciamillo and Bill Hewett were great coaches. I was there in 1987 when the Pack finally won the title in a hard fought game with Thomasville. What else could be said about the late great Chester McGlockton? Those teams were something else in that era.

Yeah you’re right lol that totally went over my head. That JK v ED v WRH match ups are such familiar games for me I didn’t even think about it, feels like every game between the three is always big no matter the stage

I think there were 5 or 6 D1 players on that team in 85.

The Pack wins 48 Kinston 21. The offensive and the defensive line dominated the line again. We only rushed 3 on defense most of the night because the QB from Kinston was the real deal throwing the ball. Somebody must have made #58 mad because he dominated on the rush and the passing game getting multiple tackles and sacking the QB. they could not contain him even with double teams all night. #24 and #21 both had over 100 yards easy. # 2 is a great receiver catching the ball, but we contained him for most of the 2nd half. I think he had 2 touchdown passes. One in the first half, and one in the early second half. Now it is on to NE next week for the eastern championship again. I hope it is a great game like last year with the Pack coming out on top this time. Sure wish we were playing at home, but that is the luck of the draw. Number 1 and 2 seeds. That is the way it should be. Go Pack.
