This has been in the works for over a month. Chambers lost to Hough last year during the regular season. Than they were smoked in the playoffs. Kid's have been jumping ship in CMS, for over 2 decades :) Talk about late to the party.

not late just fact , like u said iy's take Da hold county 2 make charl/ meck a championship team,U's just said that. Thank U Mr. news man.

Before Knotts left for Dutch Fork, I always suspected he would cross over to South Pointe or one of the other Rock Hill schools.

So now that is Brand and Hackett leaving Chambers in recent years, and now this guy. It is very interesting and at some point you have to think its going to take a toll on their great recent success.

Multiple posters seem to think there is something rotten at Chambers. It is not Chambers. Peel the onion back. Perhaps it is the CMS system. It is too big, too unwieldly and has at times been openly antagonistic to high school athletics. They don't deal with little problems until they become big problems then they smash a small nut with a big hammer. The county arguably has the best collective group of athletes in the state. The transfer rules and its results are what they are and some coaches have utilized them to their advantage. Fairness and equity is the constant whine but all that happens is talk. The media coverage for high school sports is head and shoulders above everywhere else in the two states with the athletes and coaches being promoted extensively. The area has some distinct advantages. It is, however, a coaching carrousel with few exceptions (hats off to Coach Hales at Butler as one of them). So why do the best coaches and administrators leave the Mecklenburg system once they establish their reputation? More money? Dealing with bureaucracy? Overly intrusive parent influence who think their little Johnnie is the next Heisman winner (probably about 300 of these in Mecklenburg county alone) or the offense/defense scheme is wrong? Underappreciated? That is your common denominator. That is the question that should be explored. Carlos Richardson has received nothing but praise from coaches who worked for him and his peers. An absolute class act. He is leaving at the apex of his career accomplishments to date and good luck to him. One more person who has managed to succeed in Mecklenburg County and has chosen to advance their career elsewhere. Why? There is your story.

No its about the $$$$$$$$$$$$. And why would you not go to SC for that. Thats my plan thats other football coaches plan, win here in NC where they pay scraps and then go to SC where you will get paid a decent salary for what you do. I work in Wake county the highest paying county in the state and it is not what most SC districts pay for coaching. So is there something rotten at Chambers probably not the guy is just going to make more money in another state

It's well documented from people who know Tommy Knotts. He qualified for his NC retirement, and got his pay day in SC. Mike Palmieri almost doubled his salary, and received a 10k pay raise after his 1st year at Denmark. Knowing Carlos and AB, I'm thinking the money is 85% of the reason why they left. I co-sign with Sammyk. It's definitely the money. These guys are getting between 30k and 50k pay raises. Throw in lower taxes in SC. No brainer. Bureaucracy, Crazy parents and all that other stuff does not cease when crossing the State lines. It's just easier to deal with, when your financially compensated.

100% Nepsy. In listening to Brand and Knotts they both seem to indicate the better players, and better game is in NC. But SC has the salary and infrastructure. Then add in the double dip and its a no brainer. The question we have to ask is how is SC able to pay so much more and have so much better facilities when NC is much bigger and more fiscally secure than SC? Is it just because they love football so much more and are willing to sacrifice more? Are booster clubs in NC allowed to pay coaches?

Here is what I have learned about NC and SC in regards to football. North Carolina likes football its Ok. South Carolina Loves Football. Fridays mean more down there. I have friends who are down in SC and a few coaches on my staff either from there or have coached there and it;s like night and day

So do the booster clubs and passion for football create more coaching revenue? And infrastructure? Or is ot systemic where NC puts money in academics and SC sports? ACC vs. SEC like? Football in NC on the field IMHO is much better than SC.

Well NC has twice the population as SC but I would venture to say that neither state is "Investing" in education. The facilities in NC are for the most part shameful

SC isn't having any problems building schools. NC has some school building issues. Seems that SC leg is doing things a little different than NC leg.

My dad use to say life is a $HTT sandwich. The more bread you make, the more $HTT you have to eat. That logic falls apart with high school coaching, especially in Mecklenburg county. Agree 100% Nepsy that bureaucracy and crazy parents will be everywhere but they seems to be more prevalent in the Charlotte area. More people, more affluence, more entitled elitist attitudes and simply a numbers game. Add in 4 strong private football programs (well maybe only 3 now, sorry Country Day) willing to poach talent with the opportunity and couple that with a loose transfer regimen, that creates choices and you have what you have today. Every team will have a few prima donna parents and kids. In Charlotte, without naming names, there are several teams of them. Smaller towns and South Carolina seem to have more of that middle class "you have to earn it" philosophy. High School football is also treated differently in SC. Some head coaches don't have to teach and their programs are well resourced. Their jobs are better than many small college jobs. So yes it is about the money but it is much more than just the money.

I don't know all the guys that made the move, but I know 3 of the 4 guys i mentioned personally. It was the Money along with the resources. Also you have to take into consideration, although you make more money in SC, the expectations are much higher. Don’t win enough game’s, and they’ll send you packing.

I definitely plan to double dip in the future. Hard for NC border school districts to compete with SC, especially upstate SC counties, specifically York and Lancaster counties. Quality of life, salary, and lower taxes are attractions.

Chambers has hired their co-offensive coordinator/ associate head coach Montis Lash as the new AD.

Happy for the young man, get that money while you can. All cash isn't good cash, but this seems to be well earned in my book

Great guy...not sure of the credentials. Well I'm hoping for the 3peat. Nice way for me 2 ride off into the sunset and retire my orange and blue pom poms. Really enjoyed the ride.
