Independence at Hough and Mallard Creek and Watauga are tough Second Round matchups for sure

Look like from what I saw up on Hwy 105 in Watauga the rd is glaze over with ice and snow. Be interesting to see what they will do about the game.

Quick check of their county website now says it is a remote learning day. Dont see this game getting played tonight. Could also see the Mtn Heritage game moved in 1a. They are also on remote learning due to snow it appears.

Watauga schools on a 2hr delay. Weather Change...They are calling for 6 inches in the mountains.

Mt Heritage might be different story from what I saw up Yancey Co seen where there is 7 inches with more snow falling. But that was up 4,000 foot elevation. Also Yancey Co was expected more snow than Watauga

Day: Windy with a few showers early. Mostly cloudy later in the day.

High around 42F. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 30%.

Higher wind gusts possible.

Evening: Partly cloudy skies. Low near 30F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Coming from channel 3 for Saturday

So hear is latest update I seen on weather forecast in Boone. They have up to 2-3 inches now with snow showers on n off throughout the day then tapering off by this evening. So hopefully tomorrow the sun will be out warming things up some. One thing about it. Good chance for anyone that wants to see two HS games this weekend

Hough is just flat out the most well rounded team in 4A. If they lose it’ll be because of the usual collapse they have but this team is different.
The difference in the game tonight was simply the trenches. After they settled in it was evident that Hough’s size was starting to wear on them and would eventually be the difference maker in the game. I think we see a Hough/Weddington Western Final.

Let's be real, this is like a battle between a mountain lion and a mallard duck. We all know Watauga is used to that high altitude training and will have the stamina of a marathon runner. Meanwhile, Mallard Creek might need some oxygen tanks to keep up. So who's ready to see a tundra team take on a bunch of ducks?

I'm just kidding folks

Good luck to both teams and bundle up tight

I agree I think we’ll see a hough/weddington finals this year. Hough’s dline got after it tonight. Completely shut down Jones and gave Little no time in the pocket. Just flat out relentless all night. I think their 21’ team was their best team, but this squad isn’t far off.
