From my understanding what I saw NCHSAA announced that there will be price increase in state playoffs for 25/26 not only for football but other sports as well.
Example
Football
1st/2nd $10
3rd/4th $14
Regionals $16
States $20

Now Yall understand the reason for 8 divisions.. Hike up the playoff ticket prices because you have more playoff games. NCHSAA is not even ran by the state. Where is the money they’ve earned and will earn in the future going?

This was a request by the schools. They claim in some cases playoff game cost less than they were charging for regular season games. Maybe they should have lowered their ticket prices.

The price increase is needed. Some host schools are going in the negative. To make money you are better off to be a visiting school. The NCHSAA has kept ticket prices the same for many years, yet everything has increased in price. From officials, security you have to hire these days, paint, field maintenance....etc.

doesn't the NCHSAA have millions of dollars in a endowment fund? you would think that they would start sharing that money with the schools who made them that wealth to help with officials, field maintenance ect.

Possibly unpopular opinion:

The Tar Heel Card is BS. Just because youre 60 you should get in free? And schools are LOSING money hosting many events. Sorry. Makes no sense..

Anyone no where to go in Cleveland County

Another "different " opinion: I will be 74 just before the football season starts. And I attend a high school football game most Thursday nights, all Friday nights, and many basketball games, some soccer, and some baseball.

I actually consider it a privilege and a bargain to even at the new fee schedule when compared to almost any other entertainment option.
Plus I am supporting whatever school hosting the event.

Who I feel compassion for is a large, newer/younger family with several children. But, to my belief, most schools provide "bargain" options to them like season passes for small amounts. At my local school, the last 3 years a group of fans have made it possible for any and every student to attend every football playoff game free.

I am not saying anyone else should not look into these Senior Passes, but for me, I would never consider it.

First of all, I do not attend any games anymore, so I have no dog in the fight. But I do have a couple of semi objective opinions.

First, I doubt there is much money involved in this senior program. Many of the people who use it probably wouldn't attend if they had to pay, so not much revenue is lost to the schools. Zero from zero equals zero.

Second, if you are 60 or more, you have probably paid enough in state and local taxes for schools that you deserve a break on something as minor as free admission to a school athletic event.

If you want to pay, I'm sure they will be more than happy to take your money, and you can feel good that you did what you believed was right. But I personally would never shame a senior for accepting such a small benefit.

Do you guys think its okay for the school ticket to ask for your ID if you show the senior pass? I have witnessed so much abuse with this card over the years. As you said above very easy to obtain. Most places as you stated "here you go". One rival school in my old league had 50/60 plus of these show every game we hosted them. Small school 1A games thats a huge chunk of the crowd. Our AD (way under 60) went to the senior center in their town, walked in and got his card in 5 minutes.

The question is, how many of those 50/60 would have shown up if they had to pay? If none of them would have come, then you really didn't loose anything except for having an extra 50/60 pulling for the visiting team.

The driver's license idea seems good, except for the fact that someone would have to read the birthdate and calculate the person's age, which in a crowded situation might be aggrevating. They probably would just glance at the birthdate very quickly, and if it looked like about 60 they would just let them in without a fuss. No harm, no real foul.
