And they lost big to some really bad programs also.No reason a program with that tradition should be putting up results like this:

Something reserved for those programs that have a memorable season and win 4 games.
I know a few coaches that have been there more recently and left. They told me it was the overall interest in the program, lack of on campus coaches, discipline/attendance issues, low numbers and kids looking to do things other than play sports. Those conditions/issues kill sports programs fast and are hitting schools all across the state. They have had some really strong teams in the past but of recent have struggled for sure to make a comeback. I saw them scrimmage last season and was shocked they only had enough kids to barely field a varsity.Wow. Those scores are shocking. What is the problem with this program?
I get that but this is a 3A school. Not a rural 1A school with 250 students. I don't know HPC's exact numbers, but if they are 3A, I assume they have at least 1000 students there. And they can't come up with 40-50 kids that will play football and take it seriously? Sad if that is the case. I get that high coach turnover is not good for a program and can lead to inconsistencies, having to learn new systems over and over and no one around to make certain off season workouts and weight room time is getting done. But how can a 1A school like Tarboro come up with enough kids to play football and be willing to put in the work but HPC can't? At this point, HPC football is as bad and embarrassing as the Garinger program in Charlotte. Getting skunked and spanked by the likes of Smith and Atkins is pretty awful. Both those programs are also bad but they are light years ahead of HPC.I know a few coaches that have been there more recently and left. It’s mostly about winning. Teams that win consistently attract kids who want that experience. Conversely, it doesn’t take many years of getting beaten regularly for kids to stay away. Peer pressure can be a powerful motivator both ways.I get that but this is a 3A school. Not a rural 1A school with 250 students.
