Week 3 and we are matched up against a county rival after playing two teams outside of Catawba county. What are your thoughts on this old-time rivalry?

Two young teams with lots of speed on the field. Hickory is 0-2, but have lost to Statesville and South Iredell, so they have lost to some pretty good teams. NC is 2-0 after beating Asheville in what was a great game. I like the Devils chances, but these young kids need to stay focused and be ready for the next challenge which is Hickory. School starts this week too, so that is a little bit of a change from the first two weeks
Hickory struggles on the line. Straight from a coach last week. QB has lots of experience but height forces him to exit the pocket to see the field. Some skill but not normal Hickory caliber of yester year. I stopped in at a practice one day and I didn't see any size that would negate N-C's.
I hope they shock the conf this year and upset Lincolnton and East. East is a possibility, Lincolnton.... Ehhh prob not. Too deep too fast too powerful and they upset South Point.
May take revenge on West Caldwell this year. Should West at least keep it somewhat close with Hibriten this Friday in the famous Black n Blue game, they're gonna be a team that all 4 tops(Lincolnton, East, Maiden, & N-C) will and may have some concern.
I know this is N-C thread, but West is no joke this year. Beam will have to get on the A game when the boys come down to Gamewell. 1st 2 games were against below avg Tallent for West. We'll see Friday a better idea how this conf may turn out.

WC is just like Maiden.....one dimensional at the QB position.... given that Titus didn't play against us(Lincolnton)last year cause he was injured.... We know the deal with them... I told my son I'm more worried about WC in conference this year than any N-C or Maiden team....and surely not concerned about East ....and the SD-7 is still the best conference in 2A football....

Newton scores on 15 yard run. Up 50-6 and clock will not stop 4 minutes into the third period. Gonna be short game but a loooong 10 minute ride back to Hickory.
3 years ago they were a decent team. Beat Statesville and hung right with South Iredell. After that they went downhill
I ate lunch in Hickory this weekend at a popular Hickory High stronghold and some felt Beam ran the score up. Tell me how you play the JV kids as the starters and run the score up. I for one would never tell kids to not execute the plays they spent all year running. Could have been 80-7 based on the half score.
The addition of Harvel to the coaching staff has been a blessing. Defense is still the key to wins. Its half the game. Game 5 will signal the return to respectability for the Red Devils.

Ran up the score? We threw like 8 passes the whole game! Backups played the 4th quarter! Have those idiots ever been to a Hickory High girls basketball game? Barbara Helms has never seen a lead or 60 or less she felt comfortable with... No one from Hickory should EVER talk about running up a score. Just laughable!
