Well the 2016 season is upon us! Kickoff in the Pit @ 7:30.

Panthers get a couple 1st downs then are forced to punt. Asheville gets a first down but then is forced to punt. Cougars muff the punt and the Panthers take over. Franklin scores for a 7-0 lead 1Q.

Asheville goes 3 & out. Panthers move the ball down the field with surprising balance and score again. 14-0 Panthers 1Q.

After some really sloppy play by both teams (Panther muffed punt catch & a fumble Cougar2 fumbles the Panthers drive again and score. 21-0 Panthers 2Q.

Cougars put a good drive together and score, pat bobbled then thrown for 2pt conv. 21-8 Panthers. 2Q.

Asheville goes 3 & out to start the 2nd half. Franklin marches down the field to score again. 28-8 Panthers 3Q.

Panthers driving again after a Cougar punt but wr fumbles after a nice pass completion. Cougars put together a long drive to score & get back in the game. 28-15 Panthers 3Q.

Panther drive stalls after a couple 1st downs. Another long drive with some big plays & here come the Cougars! 28-22 Panthers 4Q.

Asheville has stormed all the way back to take the lead! Brewer kid has killed Franklin in the 2nd half. About 5 left in the 4th. 29-28 Cougars.

Panthers drive down & throw a pick on the Asheville 31. Cougars fumble on the next play. Franklin completes a 4 & 13 to keep the drive going. On 3rd down the panthers run a bootleg pass that's wide open at the goal line but is dropped. on 4th down the 30yd FG attempt is wide left. Final: Asheville 29 - Franklin 28. Congrats to the Cougars as they never gave up.

Thanks for making these posts, CANE, they're really helpful when you can't get to a game.

AHSDYNASY, those Cougars are gonna put up some numbers if they can play like they did in the second half all year. It would be fun to watch all of the big 3 play each other in the MAC this year: Erwin, Asheville and AC.

Funny how the difference ended up being two missed field goals (hard to fault him on the 41 yarder that came up short) and Asheville's really good execution of a fire call on that bad PAT snap.

We were fortunate to win last night but I'm glad to see the team have some fire and not quit after that team last year. To come into the pit, drop that many passes against a great, tough opponent and have 5 turnovers and still win is a testament to the coaches and players. Any time you can beat Franklin, you did something. They are kind of like the opposite of TC Roberson, they don't really pass the eye test and then they pound you into oblivion by being strong and incredibly fundamentally sound. Roberson looks like they are an division 2 college team and then go 3-9 every year. Then again we kind of were just like roberson last year.
Every coach in WNC would be happy to have players year in and year out that play as tough as franklins do. If you're going to go to Franklin and win, you have to match their effort and I feel like we did that last night.

Ahscougar1, still not as bad as Roberson last year. 9 win season is better than the 3-5 wins over in skyland every year.
