This should be a momentous battle. Who you taking in this one? Whiteville rushed for 380 yards tonight on Fairmont, but Whiteville gave up 400 yards of passing. Whiteville defends the pass much better than the Stallions. Fairmont's offense scored as many points in the last two seasons combined against Whiteville and only gave up 15 to the Wolfpack. I'm just looking at facts. South Columbus did not and could not stop Fairmont last year, but I don't think Fairmont will stop South's rushing attack either. This will be a tremendous and exciting battle. I'll gamble here:

Fairmont 36 South Columbus 35 OT

I think the stallions play South Robeson this week. Could be wrong, we are a young team and need to take each week at a time. We can't be overlooking anyone!

Coach Dove and staff are class act. But SC still young but very well coached. When they play Fairmont could get ugly if SC can't cover their recs. Or can't get pressure on Caulder. Other hand Fairmont has to stop South's good running attack.

Going out on limb. Fairmont 34
SC ----28

I thought South Columbus played Fairmont this week. Did not realize that we played them. I need to start looking at the schedule before I post. Should have saved this one for next week. I hope Fairmont is nice to us Friday Night.

SC is gonna have to play pretty well to stop Fairmont....Very athletic...savvy QB with plenty of athletes to get it to including a D1 talent in #4......I say Fairmount by 3 scores.

Scout Columbus county teams are young this year. SC looks good not great. Well coached,I don't think they can cover Caulder and his primary rec. that's an all- state man all might from what I've seen.
Whiteville looked good night I saw them play but WC didn't put up much fight. But off. was crisp and D looked good and aggressive. They ran the option that night very well. Pack Defense and SC Defense I give edge to SC. Looked like 5-2 monster.
No one in conf.can cover Fairmont off.

Its getting better every game from what I can see

I remember a few years back when the stallions come to play an 11-0 fairmont team in the 2nd round of the playoffs and we were told we wouldn't ever be able to cover their receivers or slow down their offense. Needless to say the stallions rolled that game 42-21 if I remember correct. I think coach dove and the other coaches will have the defense ready, our front seven can compete with anyone. I'll take the stallions 28-24

I was not with Fairmont back then but sounds like a Historic evening for South Columbus. How much farther did South Columbus go that year?

4th round held a 10-0 halftime lead over the eventual state champ tarboro, lost the game with 1:30 left 13-10. Todd Gurley was the running back for Tarboro that year

Had a low snap on a punt and our punters knee touched the ground as he was getting the ball so it gave tarboro first and goal with 7 minutes left. We dominated the whole game cards just didn't fall our way at the end. Heck of a game though, tough ride home for sure.

As a player it is more painful than the fan who are watching from within.

How do you see SC finishing after November Mr. SCHS2011

Well swett I suppose nobody will know until the time gets here but IMO anything less than a conference championship and 2nd to 3rd round this year would be a little disappointing. We are young but I feel we have good enough coaching and raw talent to get us to that this year. It all depends on who we draw in the playoffs. I wouldn't wanna be running into that east Bladen team we beat week 1 anytime soon because from what I've heard Priest has those boys playing ball, they gave #2 Clinton all they wanted Saturday night.

SC held Todd Hurley to less than 50 yards rushing that year. Willie had defense right.

26 yards to be exact there Redd. Willie did the HECK of a job with that defense that year. Darquale Richardson was a Hause at Mike linebacker and he played the whole playoffs with an injured knee. They played smash mouth! Probably the last south defense to do so, yet I will say this years team shows a lot of hope for the future!

SC no way near that group....that was a top drawer Team.

Couldn't agree more scout! Definitely a top tier team for us that year and we aren't close to that this year but I don't think fairmont is close to the team they were that year either. Fairmont was loaded with talent that year on both sides of the ball, you don't get to 11-0 without being pretty darn good. Like I've said before though nobody knows until the time gets here but I just like the stallions in this one. Just don't think we will drop one to the Tornados at Kill Hill for the second year.
