Erwin/TCR updates

For the record, I thought the comment about "family" was out of line as well. When you're part of a football team, you should be like brothers, and brothers are family.

As for the game.....
Two or three bad snaps for Erwin. A fumbled handoff. An interception. All of these gave TC great field position and for the most part TC was able to capitalize on those mistakes. That being said, TC's coach made some horrible play calls in the 4th quarter. They were able to run the ball all night against Erwin, then when the had not one, but two chances to put the game away, they went to the air and it looked like the receivers were running the wrong routes. I've said it a million times. You never give a Bucky Tarr offense the ball with time left on the clock. Last night when Erwin got the ball back and was driving for a TD I told my wife, "watch this.....it'll be a fade to Austin in the back of the endzone." and sure enough that's exactly what happened.

jeez. Im not saying its wrong or offensive, I just think its corny, and I assure you im not in the minority on that one. It just looks tacky, which is probably why the other 250+ schools in NC don't also do it.
Roberson can do whatever they want and put whatever they want on the back of their football jerseys.

Yes, they played a tough non-conf schedule like Erwin, and like Erwin should not have because they can't handle big time football.
Yes, we will kick TCR when they are down because of how your baseball team acts during baseball season.

Lol as I said before I am not a fan of any one team. I go to a lot of different games. I go to some erwin games because I work with a guy who has a son who plays for erwin.

Cougar 1 had an opinion on TC's uniforms which is perfectly fine. Some may or may not agree and that is fine too. He shouldn't be vilified for it. I don't think he was being nasty or anything. He just stated he thought it was corny.

There are things everyone dislikes about other schools stuff.

I am an ACR fan and that is not a secret on here. Some things I don't like or would change (not in any particular order)

1. Erwin's grey uniforms are too dark.
2. TC's logo on the helmet this year ( yuck)
3. Asheville's all scarlet uniforms. ( just not a fan)
4. ACR needs to put the interlocking ACR on the helmet.
5. Owen's midfield logo should be a horseshoe.
6. Enka's attitude toward football in general.
7. North Buncombe needs to put red back in their color scheme.

These are just my opinion and aren't meant to start any argument. Just simply an observation from the stands.

I agree with Bama on all that. I don't mind our all scarlett jerseys once a year for homecoming but it isn't in my top 3 of our uniforms combinations. The others are spot on. Especially the Owen one. Why would they put a big O? It seems like the horse shoe would make much more sense. Come to think of it I wish we had kept the old "A"

Erwin home red jersey and white pants, or all red.
Grey is just ugly.

Idk, I like the paw in the middle, at least we have A on the 25 yard lines. If we are criticizing uniforms I think Erwin and Reynolds use of the grey is ugly. I agree with NB and Owen though. I think my favorite Asheville uniform combo is the black on Cardinal.

TC has a notoriously crappy program, so a new coach comes in and makes some changes and in an attempt to unify his team he puts "family" on the back of their jerseys. I don't think it's that big of a deal. As for the uniforms, I also agree with ya'll. Erwin's school colors include no grey anywhere and those grey uni's are ugly. Speaking of ugly, Enka came out with that two toned blue and that's gotta be the ugliest uniforms in the MAC. As for Asheville.....you can't deny that when they come out of the field house in all black they look like they're ready to kill people.

All black uniforms make all but the shrimpiest teams look more intimidating.

I'd be curious to know what our record was wearing all black in the Danny Wilkins era. We even wore it for an away game one year when number 1 ranked carver wore all gold at home and we beat their ass.

As for the Roberson thing, I think the bottom line is they just don't really care about football. Every now and then they will be good, but for the most part, they are a school who cares primarily about soccer, tennis, swimming and baseball.
It is ironic I get jumped on for saying the "family" thing is corny, but yet, as volfan already said, the Roberson baseball fans are notoriously vile. So don't say anything about these "hard working 'kids' jerseys but if we want to cuss people in the stands at a baseball game you better not say anything"

That's another thing I hate too, how teams who are always underachieving or losing always have the fans that come on here and say "give them some credit, these kids come to work every day" etc etc. The teams that are 0-11 and 16-0 all work equally hard. It's a team sport that lasts 6 months, we all know how much ALL of them work. The idea that somehow a school with 1,800 students, tons of money, famous alumni and talent should get extra special sympathy because they struggle is indicative of how soft the entire country has gotten.

1) Erwin's schedule prepared them better this year for MAC play. Result was better showing vs ACR than Asheville. Asheville hurt by a weak 2-A schedule.
2) Past 2 years Erwin's weak schedule did not prepare them for the Asheville showdown. Undefeated before playing Asheville is good, but not when you want to be considered a WNC elite. Result is you didn't win the MAC and you lost 1st round in the playoffs.
3) Sexton wanted to better prepare Erwin for MAC and playoffs, so he scheduled tough opponents this year. Result is Erwin plays a 1-A close, smacked by Science Hill, and blanked 48-0 by halftime vs another 5-A.
4) Asheville vs 5-A TN State Champ Knoxville West had the lead at halftime 2 years ago and was at least in the game last year. Result is 2 MAC championships, 2 years ending Erwin's undefeated season, and making it to the 3rd round in playoffs.
