Ok guys lets get it going. Who ya got, why, etc. let’s talk some good old fashion EC football.

Top dogs (no pun intended) are as follows:

WRH
ED
Clinton

Then:
JK
Goldsboro
Midway

Spring creek no longer in the league.
WRH has Havelock, Wake Forrest in non-conference
Clinton has Cape Fear, NS-Jacksonville
Just to name a few.
 
I may be a little biased, but I have Clinton winning the conference. Coach Johnson and crew has pumped new blood into the program, and the kids-and the parents-are even more excited about Dark Horse football. I haven't felt this much excitement since 2005. Wallace is Wallace. East lost a lot of players from last year's team, but they do have some players coming up from JV. Goldsboro will hold down the fourth spot. They were a strong team last year, just didn't have the coaching. James Kenan lost their QB, who created so many opportunities for them with his scrambling capability. Midway will round out the last spot, although this team is improving. They have some pieces, they just need a few more.
 
Also I really like Clinton's schedule this year. I think it's great that we're playing two teams (Central Cabarrus, Oxford Webb) that we are unfamiliar with. Maybe in the future we can schedule more 4A teams if they are willing to play us.

I heard that we basically reached out to anyone and only received a response from those 2 schools.
 
I think it comes down to WRH and Clinton, wish it was the last game of conference! Looks to be a heavy weight showdown!

I agree...Wallace returns alot basically everyone minus the QB and they had a monster JV team last season that pretty much whooped everyone kinda similar to that group we had back in 2013.....East Duplin is going to compete not alot of buzz coming out of Panther country but they have a good staff their they will be in the mix......for Clinton we return a good group still some holes to fill and questions to answer think we will learn more once August rolls around but kids seem to be excited alot of interest in the program numbers seem to be up and of course we have one of the best defensive players in the nation so im looking forward to a exciting year......ill tell ya what we will find out right out the gate how good we are tough scrimmage vs 3A Terry Sanford and first 2 games Cape Fear and then East Bladen who should be very very good this season
 
Give Midway a year or 2 and they will be pretty dang competitive they have a really really good group coming up from the middle school went undefeated the last 2 years this last year whooped everybody including Sampson Middle Clintons feeder school 30-0....if those kids stay together and continue to play/improved i could see Midway breaking into the top 4 in 2-3 years

don't forget at Jacksonville Northside following East Bladen to start 3 consecutive away games with long rod trips

Yes Northside-Jax always a tough game especially on the road and they should be alot better than last year that was a rare down year for probably one of the more consistent programs they have a really highly rated 4 star athlete in Ja'Qurious Conley UNC recruit

He is big on Carolina's board. He is currently predicted to be a unc commit, so in Wiz's mind that means he isn't good enough to go to Alabama or NC state cause we all know those two are the most dominant football programs in college football.

I'm assuming NSJax will play him down in the box against Clinton till we try and throw some on them, IF we do.

He was the one that had the big hit that injured Donte this last season...watched his film against us he had a pretty good game defensively flows nicely to the ball good tackler.... he's fast

Give up the hate bias04; you bring up State again but for the record Alabama and UNC aren't in the same recruiting circles; not the same ballgame, never will be! Which means he's not good enough to go to Alabama; not many are.

And correct me if im wrong but we havent won at Northside-Jax(Away) since the 06 Eastern title game have we....should of won the last one in 2017.....ugh and dont get me started about that 2016 3rd.round playoff game......i honestly would consider Northside-Jax a rivalry game definitely had some classic matchups from the ECC days in the mids 2000's and some classic playoff games

Yeah i believe that 25-0 win in the 2006 Eastern title game was the last time we won on their field...had some close ones but just havent won out their in a while hopefully that changes this upcoming season

I saw where UNC got a 2020 dual threat QB that Alabama was after......i guess he decided he wasnt good enough to play with the Tide so he chose UNC lol......Brown bringing quality recruits to Chapel Hill guys that Bama and other powers are after aswell

Mack could always recruit. I just hope he’s learned how to make game day decisions better. As a Tar Heel fan, I still have nightmares of that ill advised and unnecessary pass on Virginia’s goal line when three runs and a even a missed field goal would have put us into a major bowl. Cost us several million dollars and a top five finish. That was the most egregious example but there were many more. Hopefully, there won’t be repeats. But recruit? Few are better unless they are at traditional behemoths.

I agree just disputing a statement made about some UNC recruits and targets not being able to play at Alabama but low and behold a player Alabama wanted and offered chose UNC over the Crimson Tide

He will decomitt before he is officially signed, realizing why go to Carolina when u can go to state, the next best thing to Alabama. He is just waiting for them to offer, you wait and see.

Heard Midway has a stud QB/baseball player coming up from the middle school......baseball doesnt surprise me but supposedly pose to be really really good QB aswell....just something i overheard in the barbershop not sure how true it is
 
We will get to see how good Wallace is this year early and often with a non conference schedule that includes Southwest Onslow, East Bladen, Northside Jacksonville, Havelock, and WAKE FOREST.

Clinton too with Cape Fear, Northside Jacksonville, East Bladen, Central Carrubus.

34 to not be A UNC fan you sure keep up with their recruiting but that’s right you’re a Ohio STATE FAN; get serious Alabama and UNC are not recruiting the same folks to PLAY football. Sure there are recruits or transfers from Alabama going to other schools because they’ve come to the realization THEY AREN'T GOING TO PLAY, because everyone on the roster is as good or better than they are.

Maybe UNC will recruit him too!!!! Look Midways sport is baseball and golf. They will never compete on a consistent basis with Clinton in football.

WRH FAN in all seriousness with that schedule WRH could finish .500 and still have a hell of a team!!!
Let’s pray for a non-hurricane season to not disrupt the continuity of the season. With the weather suspensions and 2 open date (Souther Lee canceled) Clinton only played a 9 game season and didn't play at all during the month of September! This is not good!

You're right! Many teams down East did not have a consistent season last year.

Well look up Malik Hornsby and tell me Alabama didnt offer him a scholarship??? Oh wait they did.....so he was good enough to go to Alabama otherwise wtf would they offer him

Goldsboro returns #4 cant remember his name but definitely a helluva athlete not sure what else they have returning....Cougars biggest problem was coaching during the Clinton game their Head Coach made some head scratchers that one before halftime was Pete Caroll terrible lol
 
Wonder if maybe with Spring Creek leaving does this open the door for Southwest Onslow to return to the ECC next realignment....Clinton,WRH,East Duplin,Southwest Onslow,James Kenan in the same conference thats must see playoff caliber football every Friday Night
