East Duplin @ Bunn 3rd Rd

What can yall tell us about Bunn I see they offense put up some points in the regular season how do you think we will fare against them????.........and I kinda agree I mean up 29-28 with 4 mins left I think u roll the dice on 4th and short just my opinion
Bunn has a pretty good offensive line and some really, really small backs and quarterback. I'm thinking that there defense will not be able to withstand what the Horses will bring against them. They have a lot of guys going both ways especially up front and they were getting very tired toward the end. 10 more seconds on the clock and it would have been ED vs Clinton again!!!

I don't think Clinton will have a lot of trouble with Bunn. Especially if you have backs that can make things happen on the corners..... It's hard to looked back and say he should have done something different if I remember correctly the play before the 4 and 1 or 2 ED had gotten stopped for no gain or little gain. The only thing I think that could have been done better is trying to be more up tempo

I was on the field, it was more like fourth and two, and a big decision had to be made at that point. I'm pretty sure that's why Battle is a football coach and we're not. He made the calls that got us back in the game down 14 against a very good team and when it gets to the 3rd round there aren't any bad teams playing. Easy to second guess anyone, sometimes i question the guy i see in the mirror in the mornings but we got up today and life goes on. I'm amazed at the run these guys had, not a lot of folks put this team in the third round conversation earlier in the season and many so-called Panther fans were in that number of folks. I think the program made some great strides this season and it will pay off in years to come.
youre right pantherfaithful. not many "so-called" panther fans put this team in the 3rd round conversation early in the season. and not many "true panther fans" such as myself did either. nor should we have at that point. and for that matter not many panther fans did later on in the season after we got drug by croatan the first time we played them. just because you didnt see our Panthers in the conversation after several games this year doesnt make you a "so-called" panther fan. it just means you know a little something about football, and you know that if the team performed at those poor levels that they would make it nowhere near the 3rd round. fortunately and thankfully the team started playing at a very high level and could compete with anybody. but please dont make it sound like if you didnt see us doing much this year after certain performances, that you are a "so-called" panther fan. if thats what you saw it just means you have eyes and you are giving your honest assessment of the team. be that good or bad.

Bunn has a good team and their main threats are #7 the QB, and #24 the RB. they are both very quick and dangerous in the open field. but if you slow then down you should win the game, its that simple. while i do think theyre good, they have nowhere near the offensive balance we have and in all honesty we really should have won that game. i really see you guys beating them by at least 2 TD's. although i could be wrong i just dont think they can match up with you guys.

Please don't go there man, if that "so-called" comment got your goat a little, it was not intended to, but if it did, oh well. In any event i'm pretty sure i know a little bit about high school football and you are correct that this team did begin to play at a very high level and essentially came out of nowhere to be where they were at the end of the season. That being said, I am one who said before the season started that this program was a year or two away from being very good and i stand by that as one of those "true panther fans".

I'm not going to sit here and attack other panther fans. Not my style. I'm also not going to proclaim I'm a better fan than any one of you. Again, not my style.

I give credit to the players for making plays and not dropping their heads when we went down two touchdowns in the third quarter. That is what got us back in the game. Their resolve.

I am not, nor will I ever be, a football coach. But I firmly believe and will always believe that we should have gone on fourth down. To say that our defense had trouble stopping them in the second half would be putting it kindly. Give their coaches credit, they made some excellent halftime adjustments.

Battle coached a great game against Croatan, we clearly made tremendous strides between the first and second game against them. He also coached a good game last night... and maybe my comment was a tad harsh... but they didn't really stop us all night and in my very humble opinion, he owed it to the kids to go there.

I question our continued decision to line up and hard count the defense on fourth and short only to call timeout and punt it anyway... again, I'm no coach, but if you're going to punt it, why waste the timeout? Why not take the penalty and kick it? That has never made sense to me... we really needed those timeouts at the end of the game. And their defensive posture suggested they never believed we were going to do anything but hard count them and punt.

At the end of the day, here we sit. Again. Watching everyone in the county play. Again. It's frustrating. Especially because I feel like the better team didn't win Friday night. Our kids laid their guts on the line this year... they really came together and peaked at the right time. Credit the players and coaches... I'm proud of them and proud to be a Panther. I think most of us thought we were a year away and I think we all want the same things. I hope they all, Battle included, come back next year and finish what they started.

EDpanther99,
I feel your pain and frustration and if you are a ED fan I feel you have the right to voice your opinion-you cant be the only person who feels that way...As a WRH fan, we have been in your shoes before after a painful loss...I am bias and Pro Coach Alderigde....I believe that was the source of the ED turn around..Nothing at all against Battle. I dont feel that the ED base gives coach aldridge the credit he deserves....I was a classroom student and player for him----He totally made us feel pride in ED atheletics when he arrived...we still talk about him during family(holiday) gatherings...He always played the best players regardless of their family/boosters and that helped make ED a powerhouse-plain and simple....

Well, there is a reason the field bears his name. He's a tremendous football coach and an even better man. Some of us didn't know what we had until he was gone.

When I moved from ED to Wrh, I knew it then .... It was a blessing to have him as a coach, the best I ever had.

i agree EDPanther99. no need to try and "oneup" our fellow Panther fans. i, like you, am certainly no coach. but i, like you, also cant understand why we didnt go for it on 4th down. despite that fact i think Battle, Aldridge, and the whole coaching staff coached a great game. that doesnt mean i cant disagree with a key play call. the fact is we have been doing the hard count on 4th down off and on all year. without numbers i would estimate the success rate of making the defense jump at maybe %10. if they dont jump either do what you said 99. take the penalty and punt it. or if you still have time on the play clock, audible out and go ahead and punt it. the timeouts would have been so much better utulized on that last drive. but again, im no coach. im just a knowledgeable fan. and yes there are fans out there who know a lot about the game. heck, i played football 6 years of my life. coaches arent the only human beings in the world that know about their respective sport. but like i said. overall Coach Holley and the entire staff coached a great game. also the players played a great game. i hope we pick up next year where we left off.
