Central had a 4th and 75 tonight, possibly the longest 4th and long ever in a football game!!

Good job by East tonight. East coaching changes actually made a world of difference tonight. In what was expected to be a close game, East finally opened up the offensive playbook tonight, throwing the ball down the field and calling more than just a single back formation and ran the ball well. A little offensive creativity with no turnovers will go a long ways toward winning a game.

Radio said they went for it on 4th and 75 and gained 61.

Yep, Central QB threw up a bomb and one of their receivers came down with it but was tackled as soon as he caught it so they turned it over on downs. I have never seen that much yardage needed for a 1st down before and probably never will again.

What caused a 4th and 75? Where was the ball spoted at first ?....Thomasville had a first and 31 tonight and scored on a running play up the gut,and I thought that was a long way

The 4th and 75 was caused by a slew of penalties on Central combined with a couple of QB sacks. Central players were getting frustrated because the way the game went and had a few late hits. There was at one point I believe two personal fouls after one play that led to 30 yards being marked off. The ball was originally spotted on the East 7 yard line.

there was a college game a few years back (and I don't remember the teams involved) where a team had a third and goal from the other teams 8 yard line...and a after a huge sack and fumble that was kicked and mishandled by a number of players....the ball ended back on the offensive teams seven or eight yard liine....so that made it a 4th down and goal to go from their 7 or 8.............lol......but 4th and 75 is quite impressive.................

Wow.. so they had 92 yards to go to score or punt the ball. That has the be the longest yardage ever needed in a football game.

I didn't have a chance to go to the game last night but it is good to hear that East finally opened up their offensive playbook last night. They have a solid quarterback in Spencer Leonard, good receivers in Coco Jones/Chris Wright and a very good RB in Eli Everhart. I understand that East likes to run the ball but when you have a QB with a good arm and good receivers on the outside, you have to get them involved. You have to keep the defense honest. Hopefully last night will be something East can build on for the rest of the season.
