I'll be in the house for this one. Last season, PG beat ED 42-0. I'm expecting a much closer game this time around. Looking forward to seeing what this years edition of the Patriots look like. Hopefully, the rain stays away.

Hopefully ED can get that running game going and keep PG offense off the field for a little bit. It is good to have an experienced QB/RB back this season to run what I call that "Naval Academy" offense. I can't believe that High School football is already upon us. What they say is true. The older you get the more time seems to fly by. Good luck to all teams tomorrow night. I pray that God will be with these young men and keep them safe.

PG gets the Week One win. 31-14. Patriots jumped out to a quick 21-0 lead and put it on cruise control. The story of this game was PG's Zander Cheek. The Eagles simply had no answer for him. Great overall effort from PG on the defensive side of the ball.

First impressions......I'll start with ED......

The Eagles are a gritty bunch with some decent size. Had some success running the rock at times. Josiah Allred ran the ball hard. I liked ED's quarterback also. He looked pretty decent with both the feet and the arm. The PG defense had him running for his life half the game. ED's fourth down pass plays were well-executed. The receiver was just missed by one or two steps on both.

ED is going to have trouble with any team that has a shred of speed/athleticism.

Now for the Pats....

They looked pretty good last night. My fears about the trenches were unfounded (well....for this game). PG controlled both lines of scrimmage pretty handily. PG debuted a new QB, Mr. Andrew Canter. Canter had his good moments and bad. He floated a nice ball to Zander Cheek to set up PG's first touchdown. He also floated a nice TD pass to Chase Whitaker over the middle in the second half. It'll be interesting to see how he looks down the road.

Defense overall looked good. Linebacking core is strong as expected. I really liked the play of Brady Collins and David Braddy. Tucker Batten looked good kicking the football.

Despite the positivity, I don't think this year's edition of PG will be as good as last year's. I hope I'm wrong. The biggest concern will be depth. The Patriots looked to have around 30 players total. They can't afford to have any key injuries.

PG got a favorable matchup last night. I think the games with Southern Guilford and Ledford will tell a lot more about this team. Conference-wise, I think the Patriots will be alright against anyone NOT named Eastern Randolph.
