East Bladen @ South Columbus in 3rd round

One thing is for certain it will all be smashmouth football I can grant you that.
We just getting started a season in advance. Next year's conference will n
be a slaughter house.

Hope the stallions can break the curse! Whoever has won the regular season matchup has lost in the playoffs since my senior year of 2011.

SC looking better every game and the offense looks as if it's unstoppable right now. East Bladen is always a tough game and a great rivalry. Should be a lot of fun Friday night watching two great backs in Leggett for SC and Hines for EB carry the football.

Don't hold me to this but the word I got was that if south wins Friday they will have to travel to Northeastern if they win. Both had number 1 seeds but I think from what we were told that Northeastern has the outright 1. Not sure how that's determined but that's the word.

But by no means can we think about looking ahead till this Friday is over with, we know all too well what east Bladen brings to the table and they will be looking for revenge. All I can hope for as a fan sitting in the stands is that these boys keep playing with that REFUSE TO LOSE!! Mentality and keep the train rolling!

(1) All ties for seeding in (a), (b) or (c) will be broken by:

(i) All Head-to-Head Competition Note: The non-conference game(s) that are dropped for seeding purposes may still be used in breaking a tie. Note: All teams involved in the tie must have played each other.

(ii) 24-game record (11-game, Football; All games, Tennis, Wrestling and Lacrosse)

(iii) MaxPreps Ranking (last available ranking at the time of the seeding) (iv) Draw

Hope this helps!

Yep, according to the ranking on MaxPreps South Columbus is ranked 124 in the state and Northeastern is ranked 78. So therefore South will be on the road in the 4th round granted both of these teams advance.

Leggett or Hines? I would put my money on Leggett any day. Go South!

If SC can just make it past this tough one I like our chances to be in Raleigh as much as anyone's! The stallions are flat out playing determined football right now, smash mouth just like the old days. I just love it man, win or lose Friday the future looks awfully bright!

I think where SC is ahead is they have Leggit, Bellamy, Buffkin and Spencer that can run any play. Should be fun to watch.

That's a good foursome, but I wouldn't underestimate what EB has to offer in terms of multiple options. Yeah, Ethan Hines is our stud with 1829 yards at 9 yards per carry, but we have several other significant threats. D. Wooten has come on strong, didn't really play much RB until our 3rd or 4th game and he now has about 800 yards at 6 ypc and several 100 yard games. Eian Hines has close to 400 yards at 8 ypc. And occasionally run the bruising Higgins kid who has close to 400 yards as well. All in all, pretty comparable rushing numbers to those for the stallions.

Without knowing the exact stats from the basketball game versus Fairmont this past Friday, here's SC's rushing stats (from Maxpreps): Leggett 1575 yards @ 9.0 ypc, Bellamy 841 yards @ 7.8 ypc, Buffkin 611 yards @ 6.5 ypc, Spencer 348 yards @ 7.1 ypc.

EB has the obvious edge in the passing games between the two (although neither team is proficient at it). Bedsole for EB has 518 yards passing (22 yards per completion) with 12 TD's and 4 INT's.

Spencer for SC has 180 yards passing (18 yards per completion) with 0 TD's and 1 INT.

Those are the stats, do with them what you want. Both teams are vastly different and improved than what was seen in the first game of the season. I may be wrong, but I see this one being a barn burner, that's a little closer than some seem to be predicting. I say both teams score 30+ and whoever has the ball last wins...

I'm pulling for SC. Then they will play our conference's no. 1 or no. 2 teams in NE or Edenton. My Falcons were merely a 4th place finish. Go SC!

I agree. Don't over look EB at all!! Hein's is a stud and they have other weapons as well. They are a well rounded team. I don't agree with the stats though. I know that's what's preps post but they are off. Neither team is the best in passing I agree. Spencer has thrown several TDs this season. He threw one for 30 plus yards in last weeks basketball game lol. But I know it's just stats.

I for one agree that EB is one of the toughest teams SC will play. Hoping SC comes out swinging and playing hard on their home field. No Doubt should be a good one! Hope to have a big crowd!!

Well I'm sure if SC makes it there we mine aswell stay on the bus according to the posters from NE on here. Like I said earlier on here, take it for what it's worth but the Falcons didn't see the stallions running at full speed. A healthy SC and that game isn't even close.

Not sure how accurate those stats are for SC cause Spencer threw a TD against Whiteville aswell as against fairmont and a couple more through out the season but hey man like WingT said, it's all just stats it's any given Friday from here on and I know the Stallions will say their prayers if they manage to squeak out of Vinegar Hill with a win against this strong East Bladen squad nothing but respect for the Eagles from this former SC player.

I thought he had a couple passing TD's, just going by what was on Maxpreps. And hey it's all in good fun, we had a basketball game type score in our first round game versus Farmville (62-42). One thing is for certain, we'll all get to go to bed a bit early, because this one will be over in a flash with very little passing. As someone stated earlier, this game will most likely be decided by ball security. We had 3 fumbles (all recovered by SC) in the first matchup that we lost 29-22. Ethan Hines also only had 8 carries in the game, and our second leading rusher D. Wooten didn't play in that one.

We have nothing but respect for you guys as well (I'm an EB alum). These games always seem to be tight and thrilling to watch. I expect the same this Friday. I love the atmosphere Vinegar Hill presents, glad to see you guys back to your old ways. You've got a great HC in Dove, I knew he would get SC back on course. This matchup will be the marquee game for years to come (just as it has been historically), especially since we're going to be back in conference together next year.

I agree. Running game and ball security will decide this one. These two teams seem to be very even in my opinion. Who can come up with the big defensive plays and stops? I've also noticed the comments about Northeastern. It doesn't matter if it's SC or EB that plays them. Neither team will lay down without a fight. Hell, Northeastern has to win the next game first. I'm pulling for them to get that L!! NEVER underestimate any team at the end of the year in playoffs and what they're capable of.

Definitely not trying to down anyone by saying this, and I know stats mean very little when it comes to who will succeed deep in the playoffs. But if the NCHSAA wants to continue using Maxpreps ranking to determine tiebreaker's, which is totally idiotic, shouldn't they at least require teams to enter accurate stats? Most teams stats on the site are rarely reliable...

I agree. Stats are only as reliable as the person keeping them. Don't get me wrong. If you have a stud you just have a stud. But if an idiot is keeping stats then it's garbage in and garbage out. In my opinion if two teams have the same record it shouldn't come down to what a website ranks them. It should come down to a coin toss or straw picking during the brackets...not a website that is more than likely not accurate. Just my opinion. If you're on here and you Help with the stats for your team or a website, nothing against you I just think it's not right.

I couldn't agree more, well said WingT! Exactly my point. I don't do the stats for EB, but know the guy that does, and he does an excellent job.
