Lincolnton or watauga at the moment. Don't care as much about regular season record if we win the 4a conference and have a high rpi. Unfortunately we traded West Caldwell for Foard as the rpi killer.

With this new conference…Foard leads the way with guaranteed matchups that are the same from last year. It could be more for each team; but, it won’t be less.

There has been an ongoing dispute between Catawba County and Lincoln County about borders and it will be settled February 2nd Catawba County will be taking part of Lincoln County.

Apparently you've missed the latest, as of today, Lincoln County, has offered to give Catawba County Large portions of the city of Lincolnton (The geographic center of Lincoln County). Among those areas are large tracts of wards 1 and 2, the north end of ward 3 and all of ward 4...A spokesperson, here, was quoted as saying "Today, we in Lincoln County are saying goodbye to some of our finest people. We know you in Catawba County will enjoy their uh, DEMOCRATic spirit.
Side Note: A Catawba County official speaking off the record supposedly said: Do they think we're bat$h!+ crazy ?

I'm just glad that Maiden and Bandys are now being forced to play Hickory, East and North. Three teams that each should have been playing in nonconference already (football). Those teams are way more of a measuring stick and true to conference play than Watauga, SS, and South Caldwell. Looks like a solid conference with 4-5 solid teams and 4-5 crappy teams. Maiden will have to get serious now on NIL deals to compete but I'm sure they have already "short-termed" that issue and good to go. lol....good luck.
Still not sure if nil sticks around yes the judge basically kind of approved it. But I still feel like state legislators may put the kibosh on it

NIL is gonna be issues. So many kids gonna be taken advantage of. People gonna line up to hand out NIL loans to kids where they get a little money up front in return for a bigger portion of their Future earnings. And if it doesn't materialize the kids and family will be on the hook for the loan balance.
Since a judge decided to overstep and play legislature, u got NIL legal with no guidelines. At least if the legislators would of been involved there would have been rules and guidance on it. Right now it's the wild West

From my understanding these are guidelines they presented the state but state hadn't took it up yet. And honestly at this point nchsaa guidelines are no more than toothless recommendations. I don't think the state would allow the nchsaa to hand out punishment. That's really the reason they are in the position they are in. Yeah bandy's may reach critical mass with this. The school really can't handle any more students. Lincoln charter if they aren't lying about admissions 😂 has a waiting list pretty long. Plus they has always benefitted from having a 25 mile radius from either of their campus's.
Yes and being an advocate against Charter Schools I hate the fact they can recruit and draw athletes from different areas such as Say....Corvian who won the 1A West and went to the state championship and yes these Charter Schools can and will lie about admissions truth to that for sure!!
Had a map posted at one time it's been a while so don't know where it's at anymore. But 25 mi radius from both campuses cover a huge area. It went to Shelby into South Carolina a little bit. Over to outskirts of Charlotte and I believe Mooresville also. And North almost to Burke county

I never trash any schools. I'm a Catawba County homer and love all the schools in that area. However, I don't agree with Catawba County Schools being required to play one another in nonconference. I remember when I was in school (100 years ago) playing Foard, SS in nonconference, which back then they were way better. Point is, the better teams (Maiden) should have the ability and desire to play better competition than Foard and SS in football. As far as Charters, everyone thinks or assumes a lot when it comes to them and most of the time it is wrong.
That is wrong information and really don't care who shared it. The radius is from Denver as you can't have two places for sports purposes.
And yes, the Bandys area is growing too much, and I think may need a new school in that area. I've heard it would go up around the Slanting Bridge area off of 150 or the Terrell area. IDK, just what some important people of the area have said. Either way, they need to do something because like you mentioned, Lincoln Charter is at capacity as well and their waiting list for Elementary/Middle schools are in the 1,000's and HS is in the hundreds. I heard the new WestLake Prep/Charter school is taking the LC leftovers and now their numbers are crazy. Interesting to see what Catawba County in that area looks like in 3-5 years. Crazy how it has changed already in the past 5 years.
