CVAC 2021 - Round 2 (11/12)

As long as the CVAC thread is around for the season I will be here.
CVAC still has 3
Bunker Hill, West Lincoln, Maiden

Southern Piedmont has 3
Burns, East Gaston, Shelby

Apple Valley😜 I forgot their real name!
CHASE, Hendersonville, Polk

If anything…..we’ll keep the CVAC thread going….so we can make fun of the other conferences!😜

FYI….Monroe Bypass conference…ain’t got a clue what that conference is called!😁..has 2 left.
Forest Hills, Monroe

Gotta feeling someone will chime in on what the conference names are!😉

Maiden Creek did you go to that Maiden-Monroe playoff game in the late 1980s? I went with my grandfather. That Monroe team featured Richard Huntley who later played for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Overall, that Monroe team wasn't good except for Huntley. He did it all for that team. He was the tailback, middle linebacker, and punter. I believe Maiden knocked him out for a bit or maybe it was the entire game and then the rout was on.

Of course!….Yes…I was there. Huntley was a mule.

My recollection was….Monroe led 13-0 at half…and the Boom Devils came back to win it 14-13.

You’re right though…..Huntley ran out of gas! Epic ballgame though.

CVAC pushing forward with 3 teams in the 2nd round. What an awesome year it has been.

#11 Bunker Hill at #6 Salisbury
The Bears (10-1 (6-1)) will have their hands full in Salisbury (10-0 (6-0)). BH has outscored opponents 29-13 and if you take away the night the Blue Devil went down to Claremont, they're way more impressive on defense. Salisbury hasn't had any competition all year, not their fault, they are just that good, outscoring opponents 56-3 with arguably the best offense and defense in the state. As I stated before, BH will not come out flat ever again this year, they'll put their best paw forward, I just don't know how well it will be against Salisbury's front 7. BH should fully expect a Maiden style attack but with a more mobile QB. I'm expecting a halftime score of 21-10 and Salisbury moving on after a 45-17 victory.

#14 West Lincoln at #3 Maiden
The Rebels will travel to the Valley of the Shadow of Death on Friday...but they won't be scared. The game earlier in the year was the worse refereed game I've seen all year and even though it was close I had no doubt we would walk out with a win. The Maiden team this year is built completely different than last year. WL (9-2 (5-2)) has outscored their opponents 20-13 with their most dominant performance being last week versus Surry Central 41-7. They have an excellent run blitz style defense and are as scrappy a team as I've seen. They are great at controlling the clock and have thrived as that type of team for several years now. They'll bring all they got Friday. Maiden (11-0 (7-0)) has outscored their opponents 40-7 this year with their starting defense only allowing 3.8 points per game. The best defense in the school's 66 year history. 7 of our 11 opponents had offenses that were held to zero points by our starting D. For the 1st time since the Bunker Hill game and for only the 5th time this year we will have all of our starters playing and out of street clothes. I'm expecting aggressiveness and a full court press like they haven't shown all year. It's playoff season and Maiden will show no mercy, this coaching staff has our boys over the playoff flop hump. The 20-14 victory earlier this year was with a wounded defense and an offense that was flat, not this week. Much like last week, Maiden will shut out the competition at half, leading 22-0. By the 4th it will be 38-0 and our second stringers will play - West Lincoln will score against our second string/JV defense. Final: Maiden 38 - West Lincoln 8.

Good luck to all the boys this Friday. Play violent through the whistle and keep your head on a swivel.

Good stuff right here! ….enjoyed all the others too ….Grizz.
Optimistically speaking…Bunker Hills’ strength is their defense….stout, scrappy, and fast …especially against the run. Who knows…they may hold their own!!….no need to worry about getting their ass beat…they’ll go for broke! Go BEARS!!!

Heard the Maiden - West Lincoln game will be on SFCnetwork.tv for those that are interested.
Audio too!….they really do a good job.

It's going to be great to have him back. He's built like Aaron Donald. I wish I could post a picture from his Twitter

Figured it out. Given that he posted this himself on Twitter I don't see it being a problem that I post it here. If this breaks any type of forum rules please let me know and I'll take it down.

Are they selling tickets at the gate at Maiden.
Yes, they haven't changed that. They only got as weird as "have exact change" but they don't require that anymore.

The concessions lines have gotten worse though, by a lot. The staff is cut in half and they just can't keep up...so get what you want as soon as you get there.

Ok thanks

Sometimes when I come to Maiden I will stop by Don’s grill or Brookwood restaurant. Both places have good food. I probably will stop in one of the two places before game time next week.

Beautiful drive. Beautiful throw to Culliver. 20ish yd pass. TD Maiden. 2 point good. 8-0 Maiden. 8:45 1st.
