23 consecutive trips to the second round. One game at a time. Last night wasn't pretty . Win and advance.

One of the best qbs in the state against the best defense in 3A. Cuthbertson doesn't have the horses besides the Oklahoma bound qb to make this a game. Crest wins 35-14.

Looking forward to seeing Kendall in person. For those that have seen Cuthbertson is it their pass defense or run defense that has been giving up points?

Well Erwin throws the ball mostly and they scored 33 points on cuthbertson last night. The other 7 points were off a pick 6

Cutty QB threw like 3 or 4 ints last night, and that was against a Erwin D, Erwin should have won that game, I don't think crest has much of a problem, cutty might keep it close the first half, but after that I don't see them keeping it close.

Kendall is massively overrated, will never start a game at Oklahoma imho

Was at the Erwin game last night and agree Erwin should have won. Cuthbertson's Qb looks the part but i wasn't impressed heck he was the second best qb in the game Erwin's qb out played him. He did throw three maybe four interceptions last night most of which was underthrown going to #5 which is there deep threat. I haven't seen crest since last season but if there defense resembles that one crest wins easy . Cuthbertson o-line isn't very good and there pass defense is awful. They do okay against the run up the middle but can't contain the edges real well .

If Erwin was supposed to win they would have. What really happen is Cutty didn't play well but won anyway. Oklahoma obviously thinks Kendall is better than the Erwin QB but what do they know.

Crest vs ACR the next week......but Crest needs to have a better game against Cutty. ACR is for for real!!!!

I'm more worried about AC Reynolds getting by Weddington next week to set up the Reynolds vs. Crest game the week after. Weddington has lost a step or two from last year, but they're still pretty dang good.

If we're lucky enough to see Reynolds vs. Crest in two weeks I'll pull for Reynolds just because they're in our MAC conference, but much, much respect to Crest. Either way, I see one of these two teams getting a ring this year.

Didn't say Erwin Qb is a better Qb than Kendall just played better last night. Kendall probably do great at Oklahoma he has good size and big arm his o-line did him know favors last night. They couldn't block Erwin then how in the world are they going to block Crest?

Not being funny but how the hell you score 49 and being able to block someone esp when you're average points per is 28. You score 21 more points than you average against someone yet you cant block??? Wt.......

A lot of screens and short passes. They only had two passings td's if my memory is correct rest where running td's . Erwin's run defense wasn't very good inside the twenty. They sacked Kendall atleast four times trying to throw deep.Reason score got so high neither side wanted to kick deep so alot of mid field or better starts for the offense's. Also turning point in game early four quarter #7 for Erwin got knocked out of game he had been killing Cuthbertson's defense all night. Just my take on the game i didn't have a dog in this fight. I went to watch a decent first round game and that's what i got. Cuthbertson Qb will do fine at Oklahoma was also impressed with Erwin's Qb, and #5 for Cuthbertson is a D1 talent to.

I agree, Crest seems to have gotten lazy, they need to wake up if they want a shot to repeat. ACR is going to punch Crest right in the mouth like Shelby did. Will Crest be ready? They better not get caught looking ahead, even though I am.

I agree they let Piedmont get in their heads a little, but being on the field, the refs let it get away from them for a stretch. Piedmont players were even talking to the Crest coaches. Another example was the call on Tre. Again, he didn't respond right on the tackle out of bounds, but he had 3 Piedmont players engaged in some extra curricular activity. 110 yards of penalties in second half is not good and it can hurt you vs good teams, but this is not something we have seen them do all year. Some nights you are forced to play through it and win.

I have to agree with some of the guys above. Crest was very undisciplined against Piedmont. A lot of useless penalties. #21 and #33 both slapped Piedmont players and only received 15 yard penalties. Both could have easily been ejected. I am beginning to question the control the new coach has over this team. Doubtful Mark Barnes would let his team become so undisciplined. New coach better get control before one of those kids cost the team a win.

Say what you will but if the refs would have called that a punch he would have been gone and they would have been no way anyone could have argued that it was anything differant.

We need Tre we need him bad and weather anyone wants to admit it our not because everyone likes to see long passes and Willie breaking records, but we better figure out how to be consistent in the run game or we will be dissapointed when football season is over!

I don't see laziness. Things are going to happen. We get holding calls just for stepping on the field. Piedmont did everything they had to do to make it a game including trying to get Crest to rough it up. I like when I see fire...Plus they just got out of a dog fight with Shelby, and maybe riding on laurels at little. They'll pick it up.. If not they'll go home. It is what it is..

The only problem I see is that it was the 12th game of the year, and we are still taking timeouts because we can't get the plays in. I see some new good things (passing attack) and I see a few things went to Sumter . But that's just me...

Go Chargers!

I agree. Im not complaining about the play calling but somebody needs to get the plays in sooner its happening too much. I think the players and the fans fully expected an easy win against a scrappy piedmont team and our play showed that. Even the fans that did come were very quiet for a playoff game.crest steps up when they need to but i hope they are more fired up for cuthbertson. And i feel like they will be.

Crest should be more fired up, and Crest should be traveling, the home fans suck. Always have unless its Shelby game. Some things did leave with Barnes, Clark is young with not a lot of head coach experience. He knows though how important this football team is to the community.

I will say this...I'm curious to see what the Crest football team looks like next year. Anyone can win with tons of talent and experience...What will they do with a young team?

Whether or not the Crest football team is "important" to the community is debatable. Some folks feel that a sense of entitlement crept in years ago with special parking, all the gear, etc... Yeah, there are a lot of diehards, and some bandwagons, and some who think that football shouldn't take over the school. The success breeds contempt from the outside, but also within. Football is very important to those who post on this board. Not everyone feels that way. And some don't care at all.

I promise you Crests fans don't suck as bad as ours. Go to even a 3rd round game and our fans are on their asses talking about coffee and birkenstocks or the band. They are oblivious to the fact that there is a football game going on.

Im more worried about 2 years than next years team. We will lose a lot but still have a huge amount of talent. The guys who will be seniors next year won the conference championship as sophmores last year. And that was without several 9th and 10th graders who were already moved up to varsity full time.

Your comment about "some who think football shouldn't take over the school" reminded me of my senior year (LONG TIME AGO HA).... We got a new principal that year, and if I am not mistaken it seems like the first assembly we had that year, he made a comment along the lines of this is no longer, or this is NOT only a football school.....he got an earful of Boo's after that, and he didn't last long if I recall...Maybe a couple years.... Hitman graduated with me, do you remember that???

Shelby is different because of the longer tradition. Shelby has also had winning and championship teams in multiple other sports over the years.

I agree lazy is the wrong word and does imply lack of work and I don't think that at all, how about "complacency" (sp) I think that displays more of what we seen Friday night!

I don't have a problem with administration saying that 'this is NOT only a football school', as long as they say, 'we desire to excel at all levels, especially in the classroom as that is our central purpose." When schools excel academically, athletically, in the practical areas of life as well as the creative areas as well, then they bring greater respect to all aspects of the school community.

Yea I remember him, he made the comment that prep rally's around here were going to be toned down from the previous regime. No more of this having prep rally's every Friday of the playoffs. He did allow us to have a prep rally before our State game that year but had to be pressured to do that. He was not a favorite there. Pushing academics was good but cutting out the school spirit was his demise imo.

Hard to argue the results this Crest team has had this year. I feel the coaches know they have to clean up some of the personal foul penalties and will address them this week in practice. Regarding the delay in getting play calls in recently, maybe Coach can explain at the next Horseshoe Club meeting Tuesday evening at the Bulldog Quik Snak in Boiling Springs 6:30pm.
